I couldn't do ten right now, but some incidents right off the top of the head

#1 When Joe Pesci (and brother) (Nicky and Dominic Santoro) are killed near the end of Casino and beaten with bats and a bloody mess ensues

#2 The Alien out of John Hurts stomach. Movie of the same name

#3 One of the Boddicker thugs (Emil) and the toxic waste incident from Robocop

#4 The drowning of Vesper Lynd. Casino Royale

#5 Robert Shaw in Jaws (think the character name was Clint, or Quint ?)

#6 The killing of the warden in Midnight Express by William Hayes

#7 The John Travolta character (or was it the other one !) in Face Off. Spear gun incident

I don't have ten, but one of the biggest ones for me involves Man on Fire, when
Denzel Washington's John Creasy sacrifices himself to save Pita. Makes me cry every time.

#5 Robert Shaw in Jaws (think the character name was Clint, or Quint ?)

    Quint is epic.

Knew it was one or the other. Universal release (as in suitable for all ages) on release in theaters in 1975. Just watch the Quint (Shaw) death at sea when the Shark attacks and question it. Certainly wasn't 'a film for all ages' 8-|

More top movie deaths that maybe warrant a mention

Dead Calm - Nicole Kidman was in it, but can't quite remember the other names. It has a memorable death at the end, but won't give anything else away to those that haven't seen it. To those that have, it deserves a mention here

Gremlins - the old lady on the stair lift when those nasty creatures tamper with the control devices. Maybe more humorous than anything else

Die Hard - Hans Gruber falls out of the top floor of the Nakatomi building in Los Angeles. Happy trails -

Final Destination - take your pick, but the kid in the bathroom has a 'series of misfortunes' First one was the best

A Clockwork Orange - the Cat lady gets beaten to death with a, (if you've seen the movie no need to explain), but still a memorable moment in film history

The Hitcher - what was that girls name in it ? She was also in Single White Female, but she gets tied to two trucks by John Ryder, and it's best not to explain what happens next, although you don't actually see it

Not sure about a top 10 but my favourite death scene is still Tony in Scarface.

TV has had some good ones too. This is still one of the saddest things I've ever watched (1:36).

Looking back on what I posted in April, I have to say that most certainly stands as my favorite death scene in a film: so powerful and emotional, even as we watched the person change through the entirety of the film.

Yes but that's in the god awful remake with Sean Bean. In the far superior original with Rutger Haur, it is Jennifer Jason Leigh who is ripped in half.

I didn't know Hauer did the original, I'll have to check it out. I don't remember much of the remake, but if Sean Bean is in it, I'm watching it.

It really isn't any good, but you can't fault Bean, he's as awesome as ever! Quick fact! I was born in the same place as him! Near Handsworth in Sheffield!

@WillyGalore, I have not, but lately I've been trying to get to all of his work to see his different roles. Saw 'Ronin' a few weeks ago and thought it was fantastic, albeit lacking on his scenes. He wasn't in it too much.

I recommend you watch Accused. He is simply sensational in it.

@Murdock, your #9 is a great choice from a superb (and a little forgotten) movie, but your #10 is one of the things I particulary dislike from TND (which I like on the whole). I think it's very lame and slow the way the drill approaches and Carver doesn't even try to move...
