    I haven't been there in a while.

Hey @Murdock, you must own TMP, but do you have the DE, or the theatrical Blu Ray? Or both?

@chrisisall, I have the Director's Edition DVD but I don't have any TOS Trek films on Bluray yet.

Oh my, you simply *MUST* see TMP on Blu Ray! It's intoxicatingly pretty. You're too young to have seen it on the big screen, but let me assure you, the DE is fairly pale compared with that, and the BR...

Wrath of Khan would be my most anticipated Blu Ray watch. With all the vibrant colors of Regula I and the Mutara Nebula. :D

Purchased Star Trek The animated series, had a vague memory of this from watching it decades ago. The episode Yesteryear written by D.C. Fontana is a standout its superb and would fit well into the original series. For anyone who has not watched Yesteryear I highly recommend it.

Wrath looks fantastic on Bluray, Wish they would give the special edition a full remaster. If only for the scene when Spock remarks on the definition of ego and the camera zooms in on Kirk.

Surprised no one here has brought this up yet:

Idris Elba is quite a familiar face around these parts, no?

It'd be interesting to see that, but Paramount probably doesn't remember him.

Over a year ago now (wow) I finished marathoning all of the Star Trek films. My old list from September 2013:

    1. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) - 8.5/10
    2. Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) - 8/10
    3. Star Trek (2009) - 7.5/10
    4. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) - 7.5/10
    5. Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Director's Edition (1979) - 7.5/10
    6. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) - 7/10
    7. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1982) - 6/10
    8. Star Trek: First Contact (1996) - 6/10
    9. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) - 5/10
    10. Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) - 5/10
    11. Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) - 5/10
    12. Star Trek: Generations (1994) - 4/10

After some re-watching and reconsidering, I've made some adjustments. My new list:

    1. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) - 8.5/10 (even)
    2. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) 7.5/10 (+.5 score / +4 spaces)
    3. Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) - 7.5/10 (-.5 score / -1 space)
    4. Star Trek (2009) - 7.5/10 (even score / -1 space)
    5. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) - 7.5/10 (even score / -1 space)
    6. Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Director's Edition (1979) - 6.5/10 (-.5 score / -1 space)
    7. Star Trek: First Contact (1996) - 6/10 (even score / +1 space)
    8. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1982) - 6/10 (even score / -1 space)
    9. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) - 5/10 (even)
    10. Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) - 5/10 (even)
    11. Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) - 5/10 (even)
    12. Star Trek: Generations (1994) - 4/10 (even)

Really enjoyed part IV this time, much more than I was expecting. You'll see that one was my biggest shake up. TMP was a little clunkier than I first remembered, though I did still appreciate its scope. I also don't care very much for any of the Next Gen films, but liked First Contact just a hair more than I remembered.

It's official. Yesterday filming of the 13th Trek-movie "Star Trek Beyond" has begun. Actors Zoe Zaldana and Zachary Quinto were tweeting extensively about it yesterday:
    http://www.treknews.net/2015/06/24/star-trek-beyond-filming-begun/

The nicest news about "Star Trek Beyond" is perhaps the fact that it will be much more space-exploration exploration-oriented. The film will deal entirely about the crew's five year mission towards strange new civilizations. It will truly go body where no one has gone before....

That will mark a change for this upcoming film, as it's immediate two predecessors were mostly set around Earth and a typical villain that had to be fought.

"Star Trek Beyond" will also mark the franchise's 50th anniversary. So it will most likely build up huge momentum when it premieres next year.

More Space Exploration. That's what I've been wanting. Too much SAVE THE EARTH surrounding the last three movies.

Yup, fully agree. It's one of the reasons why I still prefer the TV-Series over many movies.

The first "Star Trek" motion picture really had a nice Kubrick-esque space exploration vibe to it, which was almost instantly sacrificed when with "The Wrath Of Khan" a more Bond-esque villain's plot was used.
