I love it too, how can you not love Christopher Lloyd as a Klingon?

I love the original 6 though TMP is dull and too slow for me.
It's great Sci Fi though, and looks beautiful- lots of ship porn.

Yeah but it's pretty much a fancy remake of the TOS episode "The Changeling".

I have a good idea who that is in the middle of the poster, Karl urban let it slip out earlier in the year and it fits.
Didn't he say something about it being Gary Mitchell?

He did mate at a promotional interview for Dredd.
  • I know a lot of people are hoping Kahn shows back up, but I'm hoping the adversary here is Gary Mitchell.

Agreed. I'd much rather the new Trek delve a little deeper into their treasure trove and try an alternative adversary such as Gary Mitchell or Harry Mudd.

Oh, I would so enjoy seeing Harry Mudd show up in these new movies.

First trailer for Into Darkness will be hitting the interwebs this coming Thursday!!

PS. Reports are that the trailer hitting this Thursday is an online-only exclusive teaser that runs one minute long, while the trailer attached to The Hobbit will be a full trailer with a running time of over 2 minutes.

My 13 year old son who loves STTOS & ST:Voyager says after seeing the worthless garbage that was ST 2009, he wants nothing to do with this new movie.
I'll see it though- it's like good fan fiction to me.

Well with Shatner & Nimoy still around but almost ancient I am glad they have returned to the Kirk years instead of trying to do a movie with one of the later series because that would really suck the life out of the franchise.

This new direction is the future of ST, and the BO seems to like it which has been different for the franchise earlier.
  • I think there is a good chance it could be Gary Mitchell though maybe Karl Urban was throwing us a curve ball, Charlie X could be a possibility also, and one i would welcome. Plus all the damage that was done could be undone, following what happened in the original episode Charlie X.

Yeah, this was the best way to go, I just wish Abrams had been a fan of the original series is all.

Cheers mate, one of my favourite episodes from season 1, the relationship that Kirk establishes with Charlie was brilliantly done, ended up being a true battle of wills. Think there is alot they could expand upon with Charlie X character and relationship with kirk.

Though i am 99 per cent sure it will be Gary Mitchell, taking age into consideration from the respective episodes. Assuming Benedict Cumberbatch is playing the lead villain. Which would not be a bad thing if a strong foundation is laid between kirk and Mitchell, and there friendship before Mitchells new found powers turn him into a almost unstoppable destructive force.

I'll preface by saying I loved the last movie and thought the way they reset the series was wonderful. I'm much looking forward to the next film.

That said, Star Trek: The Next Generation remains the most liked show of the bunch when people get polled, and it generally isn't close. I think a Next Gen movie could be made to work as well. Better still, love to see a time/dimension/reality plot that brings the new Kirk crew together with their Next Generation counterparts.

I believe a movie based upon based upon "Federation" would indeed be awesome, where Next gen meets the original bunch but do not really meet but Picard and Co and Kirk and Co both work their magic without really meeting face to face.
