Yeah but it's pretty much a fancy remake of the TOS episode "The Changeling".

PS. Reports are that the trailer hitting this Thursday is an online-only exclusive teaser that runs one minute long, while the trailer attached to The Hobbit will be a full trailer with a running time of over 2 minutes.
I'll see it though- it's like good fan fiction to me.
This new direction is the future of ST, and the BO seems to like it which has been different for the franchise earlier.
Cheers mate, one of my favourite episodes from season 1, the relationship that Kirk establishes with Charlie was brilliantly done, ended up being a true battle of wills. Think there is alot they could expand upon with Charlie X character and relationship with kirk.
Though i am 99 per cent sure it will be Gary Mitchell, taking age into consideration from the respective episodes. Assuming Benedict Cumberbatch is playing the lead villain. Which would not be a bad thing if a strong foundation is laid between kirk and Mitchell, and there friendship before Mitchells new found powers turn him into a almost unstoppable destructive force.
Excellent, thanks for letting us know. Looking forward to watching that on thursday. Gonna see the Hobbit soon once released. So can see the full trailer then! :-bd
That said, Star Trek: The Next Generation remains the most liked show of the bunch when people get polled, and it generally isn't close. I think a Next Gen movie could be made to work as well. Better still, love to see a time/dimension/reality plot that brings the new Kirk crew together with their Next Generation counterparts.
I believe a movie based upon based upon "Federation" would indeed be awesome, where Next gen meets the original bunch but do not really meet but Picard and Co and Kirk and Co both work their magic without really meeting face to face.
