Awesome album. I’ve been listening to tons of Crimson myself lately. I like most of the albums, but Red is my favorite.
Red is also my favorite KC album and incidentally it’s the one I listened to just before this one 👍
Sweet!! They’re pretty hard to rank, but along with the incomparable debut album, my personal favorites are the 70s trilogy of Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black, and Red. I’d give fifth place to Discipline, then it gets a bit trickier after that. Islands and Beat were the two I most struggled getting into though. The rest I really enjoy.

Masterpiece, overrated or somewhere in between? What are your thoughts? Each time I listen to it I find something new to appreciate. It's jazzy and abstract and deep, but I don' t think it's pretentious at all. It certainly rewards the patient listener. An album full of deep cuts and atmospheric melodies. I can appreciate it for what it is.
Agree with everything you said. When it came out, it wasn t at all what I expected. It broke a new record in England: Biggest number of preordered copies ever.
