Apparently the link I just posted is older incomplete footage and supposedly will look even better. I think it looks damn good- the CGI has come a long way and only looks fake at certain parts (like when young Arnold turns his head to see old Arnold)

I'm fully expecting this movie to be better than T3 & 4, but to get my hopes up more than that would be foolish I think.
The face looks great, and I like how creepy his eyes look. But when he walks and gets shot his movements look like a generic muscle hero software.

BTW, the footage I´ve seen so far in several clips only shows naked young Arnie from the waist up, so I don´t quite get all that panic about his Wiener Schnitzel.

Even looking at that footage, my thoughts were in the next decade how far off are we really at having legendary CGI actors in movies that are totally convincing.

Whoah there, I say never, actually. It works with fantasy stuff like a 'terminator' and you can convincingly tweak features a bit, but no CGI will ever be 100% convincing as a real person. At least not to someone like me who was not raised on CGI...

Not saying its good or bad, though with the way technology is going would not surprise me that its something we will see soon.

I had a discussion with mates only the other week regard how long we'll have to wait until Connery returns in the role of Bond. I genuinely think it's inevitable it will get to that point. It may take 50 years, but it'll happen. I remember being a kid and saying, 'can you imagine playing GTA in 3D'. Kids now wouldn't ever believe that.

if they deage Connery's bond and have him return to the role I swear I will be excited and scared and confused all at the same time

Putting Dalton in GoldenEye would be a good use of the tech. ;)

Wow, the possibilities are endless, the more I think about it! Beyond Bond.... Keaton in Batman Forever, Sean Connery in LOTR....
And one day they'll even make new movies from scratch... What do you think-- aren't we due for a new John Wayne movie? Bruce Lee??? Lol current actors will one day be out of work!

Back to Terminator, though... Is Arnold still signed onto three movies? I thought I read that back in the beginning- I wonder if that still stands. If if is still true, it practically guarantees this new 'Guardian' Terminator will survive Genisys. My reasoning is that they came up with a great reason to include Arnold at his age (T-800 being around for years with Sarah, so Arnold's age literally doesn't matter) and it would be laughable to try it again with another machine. If Arnold's in the next movie, it MUST be the same Guardian character

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Connery in LOTR? That trilogy was perfectly cast, who would you replace with Connery?

I heard such things as early as 25 years ago. As we´ve already discussed in this or some other thread, hardly any moving tissue CGI doesn´t date immensely within a few years. The CG effects we wouldn´t have thought possible ten years ago and which we saw five years ago are now mostly obsolete already. The better the CG effects get, the smaller the details that start to bother us as unrealistic.

Perhaps the three movie deal is fulfilled by Arnold appearing in three varieties in this one ;-)?

In movies, if you sport a mohawk you are per definition a bad egg.

I honestly think this film is going to be bad (based on that clip of real Arnie vs. digital Arnie)......laughably bad......however, it is possible that it is actually so bad, that it's good.

It may compete with SPY for parody of the year, only it will be parodying itself.

Another more detailed video review-- long story short: Terminator fans should like it, everyone else will hate it.

    Sounds good to me!

Well I'm not sure I'm a Terminator fan, I think the 1st is Cameron's masterpiece, 2nd a great popcorn flick and the rest I never want to see again.

So I'll count myself in the crowd that will hate it, the trailer makes it look embarrassing and all this BTTF 2 style revision smacks of lack of imagination.

I smell a big stinking flop and chances of more after that are hopefully finished. They'll leave the property to fester for a bit and then reboot it without Arnie attached.

They don't seem to realise that they'll never progress if they keep casting him, he's the stone around their neck, they want a new audience they need to do a way with him, he looks ridiculous in the role anyway.

Could be a Major spoiler, just a theory though I think...
Matt Smith role in the film is Skynet, an embodiment of Skynet.

It gets mediocre reviews here. I will still go and see it. In fact I am picking this over Jurassic World.

I've read quite a few reviews that have stated it's the "best Terminator film since 'Judgment Day,'" which really isn't saying that much.

I do believe it is better than T3 and Salvation. Otherwise I wouldn t bother seeing it in the cinema. Not sure when I will go, maybe end of next week. Too busy these days.

That's an interesting thought. If the franchise is in another rut in another 20 years or so and they need to reboot it again, maybe instead of a new Bond actor they'll set it in the 60s and go with a mocap/CGI Connery.

CGI Craig has already made a cameo in Bond during the PTS of Skyfall ;)

True, and Walker's brother was CGI'd to look like him in FF7.
