Airports, train stations, the metro are all places I love to read Fleming.
Furthermore, reading a bond book while on holiday is just fantastic.
One of the great strength in Fleming is the feel of every location Bond visits while in the novels. Reading that while on the move, for me, brings out the excitement even more.
Every time I go to Jamaica I finish up reading Dr.No and if I can ever persuade my wife to go on 'The Orient Express' be in no doubt I will be brandishing my leather bound copy of FRWL on the platform!
FRWL on The Orient Express
FYEO in Vermont (done that!)
DAF in Saratoga Springs (doing that soon!)
Goldfinger in Miami
OHMSS in Switzerland
CR in Montenegro or France
YOLT in Japan
LALD in NYC or New Orleans
Moonraker in London
DN in Jamaica
TB in Nassau or Sussex (Sussex most likely)
TSWLM in the Adirondacks (very possible)
TMWTGG in Jamaica
TLD in Berlin
QOS in Nassau
Risico in Rome
AVTAK in Paris
This is awesome. If I ever go to Jamaica I am bringing LALD, DN and Golden Gun.
I'm booking a flight to Nassau with those 3 in tow.
From what I understand, eastern Jamaica is not safe.
Correct it's just outside of Ochos Rios.
Today it's a luxury boutique hotel owned by Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records, location scout for Dr.No and son of Fleming's mistress, Blanche Blackwell.
You can stay in Fleming's original bungalow. It's a great location albeit I've never stayed there because I prefer Roundhills up the road at Montego Bay.
If you visit Goldeneye, make sure you go to Noel Coward's house in the hills behind. It is open to the public and Connery, Coward, Fleming and Princess Margeret all partied there. It was also a lookout point for Captain Morgan, the pirate, and has fabulous views of the bay.
Never actually read any of the Fleming books but I hear about some of the locations but why TB in Sussex is it because of the start of the book and why MR in London?
Could you do us a favor then and restrain yourself from commenting until you have read them? Just a thought.
Lets keep the personal attacks to a min. Pachazo I'm looking at you too.
Why not read DAF in C-C-C-C-Cario ;)
Here it is!

Shrublands (from Thunderball) was based on a spa in a small town of Washington in West Sussex, England. Not far from where my mother lives.
I've stayed at the Gideon Putnam hotel in Saratoga Springs, but have not done the spa baths. It's a great racing town and only a few hours from where I live in Vermont.
Of course, FYEO was set in Northern Vermont. Enosburg Falls appears in it.
Oh, I'd love to. How much is it to stay per night?

Thanks.
Wilco.
I'm headed to the Saratoga Springs racetrack end of July. I'll keep my copy of DAF handy for the overnight.
I am reading Casino Royale not read it in ages up to the bit just after he won the money I keep seeing it and feeling guilty I'll read it later when watching the film.
