Finally something official! Shame its 2015 but to be honest? I am glad we have something concrete at last regardless!

    Great to finally get confirmation!

Although it's a little while before 2015, that extra time will surely help Mendes and co to come up with a worthy successor to Skyfall!

I hope Quantum return? But seeing as Mendes is back? I am not sure if they will?

Had to sign back in as I said even though I was taking a break, I'd share my two cents if some big news came around.

I'm very happy Mendes is back and am honestly surprised. It's incredible that there hasn't been a back to back director since the 80's and I remember when Mendes was first announced for Skyfall "Well he's the most high profile director of the series so he obviously won't be doing a 2nd one" I'm glad I'm proved wrong!

Also I've seen some comments about just making another Skyfall. There is no way ANYBODY involved with this film is going to try to make "Skyfall 2". Especially Mendes and Craig.

The 2015 date is disappointing but it's nice to finally know. (Ill actually be 24 when it comes out, imagine that). Still think they could have gotten a March 2015 date if they wanted but oh well. Bring it on! I look forward to the next couple years with everybody.

Ironically I also was the same age when a bond film came out I turned 21 in 2007 and 22 in 2008 the 21st bond film came to dvd same year as 21 and Quantum of solace came out about a month before my bday.

Some quick maths done and it's 836 Days until the release of Bond 24! :D

Gah, it sounds even further away when you put it like that! But all around fantastic news, now if they just announce Deakins return it will be perfect, maybe even bring back Adele.

As much as I love seeing the final film, the two years leading up to it make for a great time here at MI6.

Good to have a firm date, although it will be hard to have to wait for over another two years. Worth it though to secure Mendes. Is it too early to start a countdown clock?!

What a great day for news, found I have a new job to go to after my redundancy in August, Pearl Jam have a new album out in October and now Bond 24 confirmed for UK October 2015.

I can wait, lets see what Mendes and Logan can do with what they set in motion at the end of Skyfall.

While I am upset that Bond 24 wont be out until 2015 rather than 2014 I am happy that Sam Mendus is coming back. I think this is a real challenge for him to do a 2nd film because he originally didn't want to do another one so I am really excited for this. I just hope for at least 1 thing PUT THE GUNBARREL BACK IN THE BEGINNING PLEASE!!!

@Ben, while 'Bond 24' coming out in November doesn't guarantee a 'worse film,' you are right in that the more time they have to work on it now that a guaranteed release date has been confirmed, the better.
I'll have myself a cigarette now to celebrate.

An October 2014 release date would be plenty of time.

"...an extraordinary follow up to Skyfall..."

It better be seeing we have to wait until the last quarter of 2015. ;)

I'm more interested to see what John Logan does with this without P & W's influence. Hopefully this will be a Bond film that is finally absent of cheesy dialogue. Well, it'll probably have one liners so maybe that's impossible anyway.

"The 2015 date is disappointing but it's nice to finally know. (Ill actually be 24 when it comes out, imagine that)."

I agree about the date. Craig isn't getting any younger either. I like Craig as Bond (although he doesn't have the suaveness of Connery or Moore) and it's possible that we may have got one extra film out of him before he finally leaves the role if we had two year gaps. Ah well. Mendes did a good job with Skyfall. It has a pretty good balance between action and everything else. Pity though that the scenes with Bond at the beach at the beginning were so short.

I'll be 38 when Bond 24 comes out!

    Great to see Mendes confirmed!

I'll be 27 when it comes out though... @-)

    /elderness anxiety

Funny, I will only be 45 when the movie comes out... Like, October 2015 is 2 years and 3 months away...

An after exploting Bond's past, will we now see him in Bochum-Wattenscheid (don't know why Fleming choose this as his birthplace)? Maybe watching a match of the local football club Wattenescheid 09 (they played in the Bundesliga for four years...), or maybe we get Bond purseu a baddy during STARLIGHT EXPRESS (as a nod to the Bregenz Opera Scene)? Why not, Bond pursuing a henchmen on rollerblades during a STARLIGHT EXPRESS show? That would be grand! :-bd :-bd :-bd :-\" :-\" :-\" :-h :-h :-h =D> =D> =D>

They say good things comes to those who wait (which is the folk version of the regression to the mean). They were right on SKYFALL, I hope it'll pay off with Bond 24.
The only thing I fear is Craig getting to old (and that Bond 24 might be his last).

Craig is contracted to do Bond 24 and 25 and if we have to wait until 2018 for Bond 25 then Craig will only be 50, which is still a credible age for Craig to be in the role.

Just wanted to say that my day began with the great news on Bond 24, and ended with watching Mudhoney perform a surprise set on top of (and I mean, on top of) the Space Needle here in Seattle.

    F*cking. Awesome. Day. :)

Craig will make 50 look good. No worries about his age here.

Craig's appearance in Skyfall was often a bit, intentionally, rough around the edges. Frequently he looks better when not playing Bond. The ultra short hair was a bit severe as well. I have a feeling they will have him looking his best in 24,

I think it's safe to conclude that we'll get the next 2 Bond movies within the next 5 years and that the 7th Bond actor will definitely be an 80s baby.

A longer gap between entries is in line with almost every other comparable film series. A regular 2 year cycle simply isn't the done thing in modern big-budget cinema, and hasn't been since the late 70s.
Well, off of the top of my head I can name Sherlock Holmes, Resident Evil, Thor, Transformers, Expendables, Fast and Furious, etc. There are more surely, and if some movies had been larger success we'd even had more 2 years sequel.

And I see now no one writing about the writers strike and its effect on QoS. Now it's only the "movie that was bad because it was done in 2 years" !

Yeah, that short hair did nothing for him. Didn't look good at all. I like it in those pictures of him with the English rugby team in Australia. It was alright in Casino Royale though.

I don't get why it had to be so short. It's strange too how Bond was depressed at the beginning and as a result didn't shave but he still made the effort to have his hair cut. Maybe because that was something he didn't have to do himself.

I think they just made him look rough and older- the shorter his hair the older he looks

He looked like Fleming's Bond to me. I wish Bond would wear stubble more often. Brosnan's 5:00 Shadow in GoldenEye was a good look for him.

He had such a baby face at that time that the stubble toughened him up a bit; Craig does not need that. I think it ages him seeing that there is a great deal of salt with that pepper.
