50 years James Bond, BUT also 100 years Aston Martin: The Aston Martin DBS/DB9 Zagato

Isn't this a beauty?

The retro-design reminds me of the Aston Martin DBS that was featured in the Bond films 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' and 'Diamonds Are Forever'. And a yellow DBS '69 made its appearance in 'The Persuaders':

Sadly, both cars are one-off's. Zagato designed them with two rich millionaires, who now also own these two very rare Zagato centennials :-).

That's an increadably beautiful car! AM should've made it a series of its own. Perhaps also some design ideas for the future?

I shall be honest here. I do like the Aston Martin DB5 (Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Skyfall), but my favourite Aston Martin IS the '69 Aston Martin DBS. I love the slick, edgy design of this car. Seeing the above DB9 Zagato based on that makes my mouth going wet 8-}.

I wonder why the Bond producers can not make a one-off from Zagato for agent 007?

It would be odd, a secret agent in a one-off car. but I wouldn't mind if this were the new design direction for AM. The coupe car is a DBS though the spider a DB9. here's a picture of the dbs in Kensington Gardens yesterday:

the green car on the left is the db9

The Coupé reminds me very much of the "Saint's" Volvo P1800, particularly the roof line at the rear side windows and the indicated tail fins. This car is clearly very much retro-infused, which is also clear from the front grill that cannot deny its DBS (69 model) heritage. The rear window is a bit too bubbly for my taste, but I am glad that Zagato is allowed so much freedom as to completely redesign the DB9 from a clean sheet. Maybe AM can be inspired by some of the elements, especially the front, which in future cars really could benefit from some fresh ideas.
