Ok. Hands up who didn't see this one coming?! ;-)

At least we have our title I guess (presuming they do settle for Justice League).

No, this next film won't be a JLA film, the following one will. MoS2 will someway set up the adventure that we'll see in the actual JL film, whenever that comes. There's news that Snyder may be directing MoS2 and the projected JL film back-to-back, so maybe we'll see it sooner rather than later.

I'd say there will nearly always be three years between two films, so 2019 would be most likely.

If they were shooting back-to-back that would have been decided on and announced by now.

I completely bloody misread it! Thanks for pointing it out @0Brady. To be fair, with all the characters in the upcoming sequel, it may as well just be Justice League!

Zack Snyder is also directing the third film, Justice League, which will likely be out in 2019. That's what this says.

One film was bad enough but three?! I wish him all the luck in the world. I think he'll need it.

I'm quite disappointed in Zack Snyder, now. I loved the remake of Dawn of the Dead (for reasons not relating to the original, which I love more). I loved 300. I love Watchmen. Ever since Watchmen, his film quality has been dwindling, and Man of Steel is a very good example of just how far he's fallen.

Am I the only one here who liked MOS? Best Superman film ever, and I saw the Donner film in the cinema at the age of 12. Loved it, but now I find it charming, but goofy.

You're not the only one Thunderfinger- I loved it and Cavill is awesome. If the first movie tag line was "you'll believe a man can fly" then Man of Steels must be "you'll believe this man will punch you into orbit"

I liked it too. I'm going to revisit it very soon, in fact.

"Spend two-and-a-half hours watching a guy mope around, then put on a stupid outfit, after you watch his father kick ass for ten minutes."

Seriously, badass Jor-El was the best part of the movie.

It's not without its problems, don't get me wrong. But IMO the Superman outfit is a little stupid in any carnation.

MOS heeded the call of complaints received from Superman Returns, and that earned it a ton of brownie points from me right off the bat.

Thought it was great. Genuinely underrated. Good story, consistent, coherent, well told. Yeah, the finale was a little indulgent, but on the whole I thought it presented a decent vision of a character whose humanity is difficult to convey on screen.

Plus, the moment at the end when Superman is faced with either killing Zod or letting him live on and make earth the new Krypton is excellent. How Superman sacrifices any chance of a future Krypton by snapping Zod's neck and therefore killing the last remnant of his planet and choosing earth instead is poetic in epic proportions. I also love how Zod was born and bred to be a warrior, and his fight to create a new Krypton on earth is interesting, because you understand why he is doing what he is doing; it's what he was created for. Then you have Superman as the foil of him, who defies the laws of his planet and as Jor-El says, becomes something else other than what was envisioned for him. On top of that you have Superman with his two dads, one biological and the other a surrogate of sorts, and his fight to fit in on earth despite the fact that he feels like he is just pretending to be John's son and nothing more. I hope they continue this theme in MoS2, as Batman/Bruce has a similar situation. He also lost his biological parents but found guardianship with the same amount of love in Alfred, as Superman found in Martha and John Kent. I like MoS for these reasons alone, and appreciate the depth of storytelling.

However, Lois "Pulitzer Prize" Lane saying the word "tinkle" cannot be forgiven.

Justice League it is then! I agree that the next one will be more about Superman and Batman and obviously a joint threat that they both will have to deal with? The other charactors i reckon will be already known to Batman and something new will be set up for the third movie at the end which is no doubt where the League will be formed?

I'm actually really excited for these films. I love the Nolan Batman trilogy with a passion, but getting to see a big screen Batman adventure that has a truly comic book feel and doesn't have to rely so much on realism will be great. We'll get to see Batman and Superman in the same universe, saving the plant from enemies both domestic and up in space with the rest of the crew.

So, what JLA members do you all want to see on the big screen? Flash, Martian Manhunter, a Green Lantern, Hawkman, Hawkgirl?

I guess it would be nice to see Darkseid or Mongul come to Earth and threaten a tulip. It'd be refreshing.

If Justice League is indeed coming after Batman vs Superman (I'll always call it that, no matter what the title ends up being!!!) then I certainly hope Stephen Amell will be Green Arrow.

And as excited as I am for this movie, it's a shame they never did a 'Batman vs Superman' in the late 80's or early 90's

I never thought I'd say this but clearly DC needed someone else to show them how it's really done. And though my heart goes with Batman, I must praise Marvel's The Avengers for getting the impossible done. Whatever will come from this Batman/Superman thing, people will always look back and say that Marvel got there first.

Not sure that's fair. DC allowed Nolan to craft 'the' comic book trilogy of this generation. I think what Marvel have done is, on the whole, awesome. But in terms of relevance, longevity, impact - Nolan's Bat trilogy destroys Marvel. As for DC's impending JL universe, who knows? I'm imagining DC aren't too fussed given that Supes and Bats are the most famous comic characters of all time, period.

Nah, @DarthDimi is right. Marvel found a golden goose with Joss Whedon and he laid a golden egg with The Avengers. Crossover films, in general, are extremely tough. The Avengers could have fallen apart very easily, but it didn't. Batman Vs. Superman can fall apart very easily, judging not only by the style of its director, and the fan backlash at its stars (there are still thousands out there who don't like BatFleck). I don't want it to fall apart, but it could. And the strength of the eventual Justice League film lies in the strength of Batman Vs. Superman. If Batman Vs. Superman fails, with DC's two most popular characters (arguably the two most popular characters in all of comic books), then Justice League doesn't have a prayer of gaining the audience back.

And with the negative word of mouth and reviews of Man of Steel, half the audience will be skipping out on it's sequel. The people vs. Batman V Superman. :))

I don't think the public opinion is as drastic as you convey. I certainly enjoyed the film more than any other Superman film I've seen.

You'd be surprised. Most of my friends disliked it, myself included. But I'd say 75% of the online community disliked it.

I don't think it's that high at all, but I also don't expect anything less from the internet sect of the world. These are the same people that tweet about eating a sandwich or making coffee and expect others to give a flying crap, so I wouldn't be shocked if they couldn't wrap their heads around a thematic storyline about being an outcast in an unfamiliar land, and the struggles of finding identity.

    ^ LOL

Yeah I liked it, all my friends liked it- even my one friend who hated Superman likes him now after seeing it.
I can't wait to see him tango with Bats

The 1978 Richard Donner film did it waaaaaaaaaaay better. And MOS was the first ever Superman flick I saw.

I'm shocked Murdock! How in the hell did you not see the 1978 Superman till now?
I feel like I saw that movie in my CRIB, lol
