BJB006, yours is the most sensible post on this subject that I've seen in a long time! Spectre is not a bad movie, and it is not a failure. I understand most people here don't consider it a failure, but a lot of these same people are spending quite a lot of time believing it under performed and are now all ready for another reboot. Personally though, I don't think there's anything wrong with a movie that pays homage to the early Bond classics, a movie that a lot of long time Bond fans like. Even if it's not quite as critically acclaimed as the previous movie or Casino Royale, so what? That's what makes this series so unique. There are Bond films for everyone, many filled with different textures and takes on the subject, and that's why the series is as healthy as it is after all these years.
Perhaps Bond 25 does go back to a gritty type of film, even though Spectre still played to Daniel Craig's strengths despite the slightly lighter feel of this film. And maybe Bond 25 will be another critically acclaimed film that makes more money than anyone expected. But that does not mean Spectre hurt the recent momentum of the Bond series or damaged Craig's reputation as Bond. I'm glad to see this movie was made because now we know what a traditional Daniel Craig Bond movie feels like. A film with more humor but still with some of the grittiness that we have come to expect in the Craig era.
America is just a growing embarrassment at this point, not that it hasn't been that way before; we're just on fast-forward now. It's frustrating to see how stupid some of my people act, and how I am then generalized as thick in the head or arrogant because of them worldwide. We've become one big joke. How our people treat elections like sports events or circuses. How we perpetuate crimes against the beautiful English language with acronyms like LOL and ROFL or BS slang terms like "selfies." I can't say that last one out loud for fear of losing precious brain cells. Hell, when William and Kate were married, we gave more of a toss about it than their own people. On behalf of my country and its sizable population of dimwits, I apologize to the Brits and the rest of the world. If there was a way to stop it, I would, trust me.

Very good post - however still with one mistake.
You correctly mentioned that SP set records even surpassing SF in some markets (in some countries even in terms of tickets sold). Only the results in FRA and the USA of course are way behind the results of SF.
The fact that SP was (for whatever reasons) less well received as SF makes this performance even more impressive.
The strength of the USD taken into account, SP would have endet almost exactly as SF.
So there is really no sense in assuming that only the anniversary, Olympia etc. made SFs success possble! SP copied the success pretty much without any of that but instead with a film that many did not like as much as SF and with a song that many hated.
I do agree with your previous post though. I've met a lot of very ignorant Americans, even though many mean very well. I don't know what is tought there, but by gods I'd love it if the level of education would be a lot higher. Sadly though many in my country still think the US is a beacon of light, so our systems are getting worse as well.
This is all still acceptable in some way. But if Donald Trump is elected, I'll never ever take any American serious any more. And no, we'll not take you in as refugees.
The important thing to recognize are the exceptions to the rule. If the USA is overrun with brain sucking zombie bear hybrids/or Trump is elected, I want to know that I've got a place in the UK to rest my head. I think my anglophile credentials are pretty good, so what do you say? Don't make me beg, now.

Yes Trump is by far more charismatic than the Logan Mendes Waltz Blofeld ..I'm not commenting on his ethics or abilities just his charisma.
The world is scared ..the US government is not working or the people in it I should say. Anybody that values freedom and safety is seeking no longing for protection and leadership.
Putin is about as slimey as they come but he's got charisma.
America wants a "Putin" and Trump is feeding off that.

Well I can't speak for our Eu-leaving friends on that Island, but if you'd consider the low lands as your new homeland, I'd certainly put a good word in. I'm just afraid global warming will flood this area if the US really goes for Trump. And what a card he is.
I wish. But if he's a clown, why do so many take him seriously? I don't really know which is scarier: Putin in Russia or Trump in the US. At least Putin still has the good sense not to use nuclear bombs....
Exactly this is the question, we should ask. Have Americans become so dull by all the Kardashians and co, they feed with their attention, that they can't see beyond flaming speeches?
THIS is the scary part and sheds a real bad light on the US. They still live in times, where guns and attack are the answer obviously. And they are not even religiously misled.
