Personally I could not care less what he looks like, I felt the episode and the great moments therein.

I liked the episode overall, too.

I'm willing to overlook CGI Luke for the same reason I'm willing to overlook CGI Tarkin or CGI Leia in Rogue One. They're all one actor's face pasted over another. He looks off, yes, but this is also a TV budget as opposed to a film budget, and for that, he looks relatively good. I suppose I would have rather had Sebastian Stan come in and play the character, maybe with Mark Hamill's voice applied to him, but for what we got for such a brief moment, it wasn't completely terrible.

Season 3, whatever it is, will be wild.

Saw the episode, liked it a lot!
Personally I think it would have been cool if we had a post-credits *last* episode of a cloaked figure on Tython coming out of the woods and approaching the seeing stone (after the events of The Tragedy) and then looking up to the stars to indicate that Grogu's call was heard. Would have given a bit more impact to the arrival of Luke, I think. Not surprised we saw Luke in this episode but I'm not a fan of the CGI face, and would have preferred them casting Sebastian Stan in the role. Would have been much more natural. I'm generally not a fan of desperately trying to keep these characters around in the same skins as the actors that played them before (maybe that's why I'm a Bond fan! Can you imagine if it were all CGI Connery's all the time?) I was also kind of expecting to hear Grogu's first words this episode ("Miss you, I will" or something like that) would have been neat. Having R2 show up was also an awesome surprise; that droid has now been everywhere and seen everything in the entire Star Wars saga! I also like that Grogu is still alive, but his blood was successfully harvested; now we don't need him to die for The Mandalorian to interfere with the sequels' canon, even though I wouldn't have minded if they just reset the entire post-ROTJ Star Wars world with The Mandalorian.
Great episode and high expectations for the future of The Mandalorian and, for the first time in awhile, Star Wars. Also very excited for Book of Boba! Hope it can match the high bar set by this show.

Do you think they should have ended the series then or do you want it to continue ?

I could see why this could be a good end to the series, but I'd be disappointed if it ended here because
there's no closure to the Bo-Katan Mandalore arc. I feel like the show will probably shift to that direction now that Grogu is gone; I don't think we'll see him or Luke CGIwalker anymore, and I kind of hope we don't have to see that CGI face anymore. Din has gone through a great transformation so far, but helping Bo-Katan take back Mandalore will be a great piece of closure for his Death-Watch-Fundamentalist-to-Progressive-Face-Revealing-Mando evolution.

I wonder who played Luke, like who was the body they pasted the CGI face over? I doubt it was Hamill. I assume it was like Leia where it was another actor with Fishers CGI face.

It says it was him in the credits. Who knows ?

Yeah, I noticed that as well.
Doesn't really seem possible though, like Hamill could still move like that, but maybe! I suppose he did a bit of that in TLJ.

Maybe they'll show a bit of that in the behind-the-scenes extras they seem to be doing.

One thing I was not that impressed with was the music over that part of the Finale, Mando episode scores are often very good. I thought perhaps the score they went with for that scene was an attempt to prolong the mystery.

John williams music is the best. Jaws,Star Wars,Raiders of the Lost Ark, Superman have the most amazing music.

Pretty sure it was just a credited double that stood in for Luke. Hamill did participate for the episode so his credit is legitimate.

You would think it's a double, he probably just did the voice.
  • I didn’t mind the CGI face at the end. I was just so caught up in the excitement of what was happening on screen, it was a perfect way to end Season 2 imo.

Very likely, still warrants a credit. Even Edward Furlong got a credit in TERMINATOR: DARK FATE just for his likeness.

Max Lloyd Jones was the on set body double. He's credited a little after the main cast.

Second half of season 2 soundtrack now out on Spotify, listen to Capture the Flag and Open the Door for some goodies
Unless you haven’t seen the season finale, then maybe avoid Open the Door

I don't mind the visuals not being perfect. It's a TV series, and the overall quality of this series is great.

Agreed. I’m disappointed the quality wasn’t better but it’s no negative mark on the series, which is continually brilliant.

I I saw The Last Jedi a couple of years ago. It was okay. The main reason I went to see it is that I really liked John Bogeda in Attack The Block and I thought I'd see what he was like it this film.

I watched TFA last night, and I feel that of the returning human characters, Han Solo was the only one who was done justice. Luke wasn’t himself, Carrie Fisher died, and Lando came in too late.

Lando wasn’t in TFA. Also didn’t Fisher finish all her work in TFA before she died?
Unless you said TFA when you meant the entire sequel trilogy, in which case, I agree with you. Lando also felt like an unnecessary addition.

I meant the entire trilogy, my bad I worked it wrong. That being said, I greatly enjoyed Rey’s arc, and I think we’ll see more of her in the future.
