  • I have the same issues with the sequels that I do with the prequels; great concepts but poor execution. The only difference is that I revisit the Prequels much more.

Just don’t bring JJ Abrams back.

I agree. I think his direction on TFA was good, but after TROS, I find myself wishing we had gotten Colin Trevorrow’s Episode 9 instead.

I’m not convinced Colin Trevorrow would have delivered, but at least his drafts seemed promising in terms actually building on what TFA and TLJ had laid and pushing forward. The only problem with that version was Kylo Ren’s arc wasn’t strong enough. Ironically, I think Abrams actually delivered when it came to Kylo Ren’s story, it’s just everything around it that felt lazy. I still think TFA and TLJ make good entries, but TROS doesn’t stick the landing. It’s enjoyable as a film, but unsatisfying as the third part of a trilogy.

My biggest gripe though is having Ben Solo die at the end. There’s so many opportunities with the premise of Ben Solo staying alive and living the rest of his life trying to atone for something he can never make up for.

I really enjoyed Rey and the energy she brought to TFA. I thought her, Finn and Poe such great characters for the new trilogy. TLJ failed to deliver that same great energy but still gave Rey a number of really awesome moments.

I agree, they were great, charming and well-played characters in the first one. But that got a bit thrown away and Finn was pushed to the background way too much.

I liked Finn’s arc in TLJ because TFA never really addressed his allegiance, so him declaring himself “rebel scum” was nice character progression, especially since TFA seemed to show him only valuing Rey above all else.

But yeah, he’s essentially relegated in TROS. That’s frustrating, especially when learning that the original drafts for EP9 had him leading a revolt among stormtroopers in the city of Coruscant, which is like the most obvious direction to go for that character and JJ didn’t even go for it.

    Yeah everyone loves Rey!😂

I'm so glad they parted with their hard earned money to shout at the screen and ruin other people's evenings. Seems like the kind of opinion to value highly.

As if that happened at every screening.

    It’s just a movie people.
I have no idea why anyone would do that. What’s it going to achieve. Seriously.

Very sad, immature display. It's this kind of behavior that makes me apprehensive about going to the movie theater often - not specifically because I've experienced a lot of moments like this, but people just having no etiquette: talking over the movie, having their bright phone screens out, kicking the back of your chair and so on. I didn't care much for the Star Wars sequels, but I didn't throw a temper tantrum in public over it. I sat through all of Halloween Ends in the theater and hated most of it, but I didn't yell and make a spectacle of myself over it. FWIW I don't go crazy and yell and talk over movies that I enjoy in the theater, either.

It’s too bad that a lot of the great practical effects used in the prequels tend to be overshadowed by the narrative that much of it is CGI.

    Force | Ahsoka | Disney+

Not sure if I will bother watching this, I liked Rebels I bought all the seasons, unfortunately Disney+ has successfully made me apathetic when it comes to Star Wars much the same way I feel about Marvel.
A Hayden Christian cameo falls completely flat for me and it shouldn't.

Yep, I actually like the character of Ashoka and think Rosario Dawson is good casting as the live action version but like Andor, the nonsense coming out of the casts mouths while they are promoting it is really putting me off watching it in addition to the absolute train wreck the franchise has been turned into because of KK.

Obi wan Kenobi and Mando S3 pretty much eradicated any good will I had left for Disney Star Wars.

I am currently subscribed to Disney+ as there is one show I wanted to watch which will still be airing when Ashoka debuts so I may watch it we will see, Rosario Dawson is an actress I like.

Looks like Disney is dipping their toes back on physical media. Let’s see how it lasts.

Keeping all their SW and Marvel content to D+ was an insane thing to do.Completionist fans who don’t like the content will still buy physical media if they come in attractive packaging.

Paramount still put all their Current Star Trek on disc.Physical Media may be on the wane but it’s still an income stream.

Ahsoka E1S1 As a fan of Rebels so far Ahsoka is not translating well to live action for me, maybe that will change. The pacing was a bit slow, the episode does not start well as a character makes a very stupid decision, idiotic writing makes everything very predictable.

Viewers who have not seen Rebels maybe a bit lost, this show is basically Rebels season 5. There are too many fourth wall breaks making visual references to the cartoon, they have also made up some back story I don't recall happening.

Yeah I’m just gonna pass on that show. Haven’t watched the animated shows. THE MANDALORIAN is the only Star Wars show I have any mild interest in. Only other show I’ve watched was OBI-WAN (which I enjoyed).

On the plus side Clancy Brown is in the first episode, I was happy to see him. All the other actors are a bit flat in there performances.

Ahsoka E1S2 an irritating bad habit from Disney Star Wars happens yet again
A character has a light sabre run through them and they don't die
    8-|

Despite the above there was some good stuff in this episode that could be potentially great, if the future did not lead into the sequels I would be even more encouraged, I will try not to let this show be hamstrung by what follows in the sequels.

This show is better than Mando Season 3 and Obi Wan Kenobi, it has a better tone over all. The live action galaxy actually feels big again with a lot of fresh idea's, can Ahsoka save Star Wars? its the best bet for a long time.

I will rewatch the last half of Rebels S4 to refresh my memory a bit more.

This is what I was afraid of.Did they really think casual viewers would go to the trouble of watching a kid’s cartoon show just to be ready for Ashoka? A tv show or movie ( whether it’s a sequel it not ) has to stand on its own.

It’s the same reason I felt I was being punished for not watching Wandavision when I saw Doctor Strange 2

I enjoyed the second episode much more, you make a good point though alienating a large part of the audience from the off is a terrible strategy.

I watched the first and it seemed good fun to me; a bit more upbeat than the last couple of SW shows.
I don't mind it being a Rebels sequel: imagine if you watched that as a kid and it finished when you were 8- you'd be 13 now so this would actually be a nostalgia hit.

I gave up on Mando somewhere in season 3. I liked Obi-Wan well enough. Have no great interest in Ahsoka. Mando seasons 1 & 2 and Andor were both amazing to me. I just might have all the SW shows I need, unless Andor season 2 gets finished...
