Whereas, apart from seeing the trailer, and seeing the new characters, and that H.Ford is in the movie, i know jack shit else about this film, and that's how i want it to be, so i can go and really enjoy the film.
What you might find more shocking is that I thought Empire Strikes Back a rather disappointing sequel to the original. I guess I wasn't sold on the way the story evolved and changed from Luke being in love with the Princess to now being a backseat passenger to Han. The brother/sister reveal thing didn't work for me either. Also, I can't say I wasn't too happy about the "I'm your father" revelation business at the end. It just felt too hokey to me. That's how I felt when I saw TESB in 1980 and before I saw TRotJ - boy oh boy, that movie was spectacularly awful. A terrible way to end the trilogy. It made me appreciate TESB that much more.
But to answer you question, the original SW was, and still is, the best.
Good, i'am definitely going to see this film.
Looks like SW will be a $2+ billion film. Can it reach Avatar, we will have to wait ans see!

'The Force Awakens' has blown those experiences out of the water and into Mars' orbit. I have never heard an audience cheer so loudly when the Main Titles started. The whole crowd (me included) gave a standing ovation at the end that lasted a couple of minutes.
SPECTRE, Rogue Nation, Fury Road... are nothing, and I mean friggen nothing next to this film.
For the rest of my life I will cherish these 2 hours with a crowd that was in absolute delight from the first to the very last second.
Everything was perfect. I can find no fault, I literally have tears coming out right now just thinking of the film.
So it's safe to say we're in for a GOOD trilogy, huh?
Great, everyone is seeing this film. It premiered here today as well, but I will be seeing it with my son next week during the holiday. In 3d, it looked good in the trailer I saw.
Great, honest post @Bondsum. I like the original Star Wars and think elements of it are great (namely the things I mentioned in my list), but I do think the performances are kind of ropey sometimes. Guiness is (perhaps predictably) the standout and gives the film a real gravitas, but I also enjoy the way Cushing hams up his lines (namely "evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you over-estimate their chances").
I saw the original 3 again over the last weekend and Empire just felt like the more meaty film to me. The performances seem better aswell.
I actually quite like Jedi. The first half hour or so is quite dull but a lot of the stuff in the last third of the film is very good I feel.
@Master_Dahark I won't comment on your question until everyone here has seen the movie. I am more knowledgable on James Bond than Star Wars so I will let the bigger fans say what they think about where this new trilogy is going.

On DVD, yes. Blu-Ray in the works, probably next year.
I like SW, but i'am not a SW fanatic, and i thought the second trilogy was too much concerned with the politics in the story, and there didn't seem to be much joy in these films.
However, as i'am getting on a bit now, i do remember the massive impact the original films had. I was a teenager when SW came out, and this film just blew everyone away.
The reason i will be seeing the film, is because i hope the new film captures the spirit of the original SW, and from what i've read on early reviews, this new film just does that.
Plus, seeing the return of the original characters, and watching the space battles in 3D, is a major plus point in wanting to see the film.

A nine year old neighbour was there with her father, and she got a little scared by the living, awfully breathing Darth Vader who was there also, but then he told her he was really good at baking cookies, haha, and she wasn t scared of him no more.

I seem to be the only one who has yet to notice it.
I don't care it cleaves to the OT so much as seems this is where criticism is most. It would have been far too ballsy and risky to give us something totally original with the first one out the gate.
The next episode I can see being where it will get more daring so it it is like the new New Hope so be it, as long as they don't continue down this path going forward.
We've got Rogue One this time next year and that certainly look interesting and in some ways even more intriguing than TFA, plus Mads is aboard.
I've tried to avoid reviews but what I did read suggested it was primarily original, with a measured tip of the hat to the past. "I have a good feeling about this". I'll also be seeing tomorrow. Hope you enjoy.
