Interesting news regarding taking Luther to the big screen after the creator confirmed there will be no further television series.

Really? I just love Idris Elba. I hope this is true!
I've only seen the first 2 of the series, by the way.

I really hope this happens. Luther is a great show and Elba is a fantastic actor.

Why not combine this into one thread:

Hopefully the planned film actually happens. Cross said they should film it next year, it's a prequel, set before the series.

Really this series got more ludicrous and silly as it went on culminating in the recent one where logic and intelligence goes out the window and the characters are just a bunch of idiots.

I like Elba but more Luther no thanks it's dumber than a bag of hammers.
  • One of my favourite shows. Very stylish and entertaining, Idris Elba is brilliant.

Really looking forward to the film.

Must confess I have not seen any of them? :-\" But what I have seen of Elba? I like a lot and would not mind him appearing as a villain in a future Bond film? Ideally the next one! :D

I havent seen any of them either, but i was reading through a Bond forum earlier today, and the topic was 'Who should play the villain in Bond 24', and quite a few people said Idris Elba..

There were aspects of season 2 I thought rather stupid. But I just love Idris in the role so much! I hope they would have a really good script; this man can act, has charisma, and can do a lot more with this character, I think.

The problem is they don't have good scripts, the writing is woeful and the decisions of the characters isn't just plain dumb, take for instance the decision to take someone to a supposed safe place in the last episode of series 3, that's right an abandoned building away from anyone with loads of exits and opportunities for people to sneak up on them.

Luther the character could be good and maybe a film might be ok but the series has got generally poorer as it has gone on, I can't believe that people can suspend disbelief so much to think this series is any good anymore, it started out fine enough but it never was event TV from the beginning. Idris Elba's has made it watchable but I can't believe the U.S lapped this up, they can do this kind of thing so much better.
