Used to be a top ten entry for me, now it's in the lower half. I've become disinterested in the Brosnan era of late

Yes, I know what you mean - on my latest Bondathon I felt a strange disconnect with the Brosnan films. I've always been a fan of them, but...

Perhaps, as @Thunderfinger mentioned, I too, am becoming a man!

I'm not sure the last time I've done the rankings, but things have changed. For me, no such thing as a bad Bond film. This ranking is more of preference over quality of the film.

    1. GE
    2. CR (Actually, can I make this 1A and 1B?)
    3. SP
    4. SF
    5. MR
    6. FRWL
    7. DAF
    8. LALD
    9. OHMSS
    10. YOLT (It's shot way up my rankings in recent views, it used to be near the bottom)
    11. TSWLM
    12. TLD
    13. GF
    14. QOS
    15. TND
    16. OP
    17. TB
    18. TWINE
    19. DN
    20. TMWTGG
    21. DAD
    22. AVTAK
    23. LTK
    24. FYEO

A fan of both SP and SF. I thought we were a dying breed!

    Love them both, too.

Add me to that group. Though I rank SP a few places below SF, I really enjoy both. All of Craig's Bond films are very enjoyable for me.

    Count me in!

Thanks to the Spanish Bond fan club Archivo007 and Dolby Atmos cinema Phenomena, I just saw 'A View To A Kill' in phenomenal Ultra HD 4K quality. But I concluded that some Bond films really don't age very well. It's perhaps because of the great quality, that you are confronted more detailedly with the flaws of this 14th official Bond adventure.

My biggest disappointment were in fact the incredible flatness of the characters, James Bond included. Only Academy Award winner Christopher Walken could elevate his villain role by charismatic and psychopathic acting. And the main title sequence was perhaps my personal highlight. Despite those meager highlights, 'A View To A Kill' is perhaps destined to be forgotten and mothballed by general audiences 40 years from now.

During the film 'A View To A Kill' I was longing desperately to the quality of films like 'Casino Royale', 'Skyfall' and 'SPECTRE'. Next to Stacey Sutton...Madeleine Swan, Severine and Vesper Lynd could simply kill that irritating screamer solely by their brains

    My updated 2016 list;

    Perfection:
    From Russia with Love (1963)
    Casino Royale (2006)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
    Dr No (1962)
    Thunderball (1965)

    Excellent:
    Goldfinger (1964)
    Licence to Kill (1989)
    The Living Daylights (1987)
    Live and Let Die (1973)
    Skyfall (2012)
    Spectre (2015)

    Good:
    You Only Live Twice (1967)
    Quantum of Solace (2008)
    For Your Eyes Only (1981)
    GoldenEye (1995)
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
    Octopussy (1983)
    Never Say Never Again (1983)

    Average:
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) – Moores performance is great.
    A View to a Kill (1985)
    Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
    Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
    Moonraker (1979)
The World Is Not Enough (1999)
    Die Another Day (2002)

TSWLM is always difficult for me to judge and rate. If some of the overt humour (bordering on parody) were edited out, along with Jaws being more serious...it would be ranked much higher by me.

How many times have you watched Spectre?

@vzok, about 6 now. 3 times in the theatre and 3 times on blu ray. It's not my cup of tea overall, but I like the first half until Madeline shows up.

@bondjames - you've gone right off it recently though. I was just wondering after how many views you'd had enough of it.

@vzok, I never really liked it but I had it ranked higher because of the novelty factor. In a way, that was a 'placeholder ranking'. I knew it would decline eventually, but wanted to give it a chance.

Since I started watching it on blu ray, my impression has declined further, especially after watching it with the previous Craig efforts back to back. It just doesn't do much for me - I find it very disjointed and more in line with the Brosnan period (and not as good as some of those) than Craig's meatier prior films.

I just can't finish the film any more which is really shocking. Once it gets to London, I'm out. Newman's awful score, and all the other stuff that's been mentioned on here enough just gets me down. It sort of starts becoming difficult for me at Blofeld HQ, in the control room. Up to that point, I don't mind it at all, and it has some great moments earlier.

@ bondjames - That's a shame that you have a Bond movie that you can't complete. Maybe a long rest from it might ease the pain of the final third.

    Thanks @Birdleson.

I would have thought I'd have a bit too much Dalton love and not enough Moore appreciation in there for your taste. ;)

I see Spectre is relegated to dungeon duty @bondjames. Something about it landing below Moonraker is very telling, even more than the members who have it dead last.

One thing that really put me off the last time I saw it was the color grading, which originally did not sway me greatly (though it did cause me to miss some of the subtle details that I later noticed on Blu-Ray). It works in a few scenes, but the whole thing is not a very retro vibe when you take the plot into account and tone of the film. And actually, if you take into account the ending of the film where he drives off with his significant other, you would think there should have been more color and beauty throughout similar to OHMSS. I may have just talked the film down another rank or two by writing this post. :-?

I'm with you @Mansfield. That was the most annoying thing about my recent rewatch of the film last week. I have no idea what Hoyte was thinking but the yellow in particular is very distracting and annoying, and the film has a distinctly monotone pallete throughout which is incredibly dull. The Austrian snow scenes in particular are done no justice whatsoever. Such locales are extremely beautiful in real life (I've been near there). Not really my cup of tea - at all. The only part where I found it worked was in that boat ride to White's, which is very moody & foreboding.

It's very much like these CGI infested superhero films, which also have the same monotone look to them in places.

At least MR is colourful, vibrant and fun, and it's not trying to be anything else.

Honestly, I did not enjoy that much either except for in the PTS... the music kind of reflected that... as did the lame 'bro' concoction with Earnst.
So I hate it now you think?
Nah, Craig is the reason I love SP (well, AND the proper gunbarrel).

actually AVTAK was my No. 1 for a long time despite all its flaws. But as you see, I am big fan of the 80s Bond, most probably because I grew up in this time.

I'm afraid you'll have to blame your old friend Sheriff J.W. Pepper on LALD's low ranking @Birdleson!
