A really good list @LeonardPine. I guess you and I are always going to disagree on LTK and TB though. I think they are both class and you don't.

    Thanks @suavejmf

That list was more difficult than I thought. Especially when you start moving down the films!

Your top six are all true classic Bond films though, which I totally agree with.

It seems like last time I posted a ranking was back in 2013, so there is time for an update:

    1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    2. Casino Royale
    3. Quantum of Solace
    4. Thunderball
    5. Goldfinger
    6. The Spy Who Loved Me
    7. Spectre
    8. The Man With The Golden Gun
    9. Dr. No
    10. Octopussy
    11. Licence To Kill
    12. Goldeneye
    13. Skyfall
    14. From Russia With Love
    15. You Only Live Twice
    16. Diamonds Are Forever
    17. Live And Let Die
    18. The Living Daylights
    19. Moonraker
    20. For Your Eyes Only
    21. Tomorrow Never Dies
    22. A View To A Kill
    23. Die Another Day
    24. The World Is Not Enough

The largest drop in quality is between 19 and 20, where the middle part of the list (11-19) are quite interchangeable in terms of enjoyment.

I don't think I've done a ranking since Spectre, so now it has had some time to settle in, here goes:

    1. Quantum of Solace
    2. Spectre
    3. Casino Royale
    4. Skyfall

It's rare enough seeing all of Craig's films at the top (first time I've seen it?) not to mention QoS being your fav!

Don't remember the last time I updated, but here is my current ranking:

    24. Moonraker
    23. A View to a Kill
    22. Die Another Day
    21. Diamonds Are Forever
    20. Octopussy
    19. The Man with the Golden Gun
    18. Tomorrow Never Dies
    17. You Only Live Twice
    16. The World Is Not Enough
    15. The Living Daylights
    14. Quantum of Solace
    13. Live and Let Die
    12. For Your Eyes Only
    11. Thunderball
    10. Spectre
    9. From Russia with Love
    8. Licence to Kill
    7. The Spy Who Loved Me
    6. Dr. No
    5. Skyfall
    4. GoldenEye
    3. Goldfinger
    2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    1. Casino Royale

I'm pretty confident in most of these positions. It's possible TMWTGG, TWINE, or SP could fall a bit, but for now, this is how I have them. It's the most satisfied I've been with my ranking so far.

That's one way to get DAD top of the list.
  • I've recently written a detailed ranking for my blog, I'd appreciate it if anyone wants to take a look and let me know what they think:

    6. Thunderball (1966)
    7. The Living Daylights (1987)

Great rankings @JawsIsAlive. We agree (given 4 places) on almost every title, bar Spectre, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World Is Not Enough. Looking at your summaries of those titles, I agree with your comments about Spectre, but think you are being generous with its number placement given the surrounding titles. For Tomorrow Never Dies, I think Brosnan makes a change from Goldeneye to personalize the role more (for better or worse). The production is on auto-pilot, probably to its detriment from being a classic because I feel like there are some concepts here that are not simply box checking. I can't complain with your The World Is Not Enough summary. It's definitely a title where we as fans either cherry pick the parts we like (I'm in this camp) or just give in to its trappings.

    Also, hi @FoxRox. :)

Yeah, I love SPECTRE more each time I watch it. I even enjoy the ending, which has a Escape From New York vibe about it. If anything the beginning is the weak bit for me now. Mainly because if the bad CGI/green screens and the yellow tint on everything. It looks cheap. But I love the film as a whole.

Slight adjustment to my rankings. I've moved up LALD,MR,AVTAK,DN and DAF!
And included NSNA. My top 10 is unlikely to change anytime soon! If I was stuck on an island with just those 10, I'd be still a happy man!

    1) OHMSS
    2) TLD
    3) CR
    4) LTK
    5) GF
    6) FRWL
    7) SP
    8) OP
    9) QOS
    10) LALD
    11) FYEO
    12) TB
    13) TMWTGG
    14) SF
    15) MR
    16) AVTAK
    17) YOLT
    18) DN
    19) DAF
    20) TSWLM
    21) NSNA
    22) TWINE

    24) TND

@Birdleson, I had to move OHMSS a little higher up on the list, and I swapped TND and SP; I've warmed to the former a good bit lately, didn't belong in the second-to-last spot.

Thanks, yes I am unashamedly a fan of Dalton's Bond. I thought it was going to be difficult to compose a list & while I'm not sure its 100% accurate, it became apparent my list was roughly going to be blocks of the different Bond eras.

@Scaramanga12, pretty solid Top 10; I'd move around GE, FYEO, TSWLM, and QoS would be nowhere near last place, but our two Mendes rankings are pretty close to one another.

Yeah I'm conflicted on GE. Sean Bean makes for a great villain but a bizarre score and a bad performance in general from Pierce drags it down a little. It could go up a place or two.

Everyone knows my GE bias by now, but yes, it's tough to save that score; it has its moments for sure (the graveyard scene, in particular), but 'Ladies First' playing over what was otherwise a well-shot, exciting car chase is disappointing.
