SF is the only film without a lot of things.
And Bond's mother was the main Bond girl by the way :P
Very true.
Not from where he was standing.

20-18 are all neck-and-neck (OP might surpass TMWTGG any viewing), 14-10 are all pretty close, and it's always difficult for me to rank my favorite 7.
24. Moonraker
23. A View to a Kill
22. Die Another Day
21. Diamonds Are Forever

TMWTGG continues to worsen with every watch for me. I remember it was close to my Top 10 at one point a long time ago. Not even close now. Christopher Lee's Scaramanga is truly the saving grace, who still remains one of my favorite Bond villains.

Wow, we share an almost identical bottom 5. Mine:
20. Skyfall
21. Die Another Day
22. Quantum Of Solace
23. The World Is Not Enough
24. Moonraker
I move mine around a lot, but those last 5 are pretty easy. Usually I have TND down there, but I've been kind of on a Brozzer nostalgia kick lately and appreciate that one a bit more.

24. Diamonds Are Forever
• On Her Majesty's Secret Service has become a fixture in my top five. It took some time to appreciate it because there are undoubtedly things I wish were done differently, but it is too much of a treasure to get caught up in those details.
• Dr. No has fallen to the edge of my top ten and sadly, it's likely to stay there. I wanted to place it a little bit higher, but I feel really good about the order after having tweaked it so many times. The things it does right are among the best in the franchise, but the narrative sags almost to the level of Thunderball. I remember I used to explain why it only bothered me for Thunderball previously, so I suppose I'm becoming more consistent in my appraisal of closely related Bond films.
• Quantum of Solace has fallen from grace. I don't know if I'm ahead of the curve or behind the curve on this one -- I guess it all depends on the perspective! For its moments of Bond brilliance, it's such a loosely held together film. My recent viewings were increasingly put off by the amount of action. It's all there for filler and that quite spoils some of the better workings of this title.
• The Man with the Golden Gun proved to me to be a proper Bond film that only occasionally goes awry. The quirkier aspects have played up better for me on recent viewings, which has made the truer parts of the film shine just a bit more.
• Never Say Never Again was a good Bond film and for the first time I would rank it ahead of Octopussy. It has the necessary ingredients for a great Bond film. It's kind of interesting to see some similarities to Casino Royale (heads up game against the villain) and Skyfall (an agent past his prime). It gets bogged down at times, but the main characteristics of the film are strong.
Since I am not likely to do this again for a long time, I will post a cumulative ranking that shows my Bond film rankings trends. This set of rankings is more in line with my long-term assessment of the franchise and really shows just how far I have shifted on some titles over the last two years. One thing I thought was interesting is that most of my rankings fall generally close to the aggregate of Bond fans, but I do always seem to have an outsider "guilty pleasure" ranked in the mix, whether its Diamonds Are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun, or Octopussy.

I disregard CR 54 due to the bastardization of the character of Bond to an American. Which isn't Bond.

True. SP belongs somewhere at the top. SF at the bottom. :P
And TB is great if only because of Connery & Paluzzi.
Agreed.

The PTS and train fight are still excellent though.
Yes and SP won the poll by a large margin. Naturally (imho).
SF is the only Bond that I would say of that I don't love it. All other 24 outings (incl. NSNA) get my love.
SF I like, it's Bond (still), but it's the only Bond I would give a rating below 7.0 (out of 10.0).
Too much is wrong with it.
