Your opinion on the gap in quality between TLD and LTK is consistent with my own!
Ouch, you really don’t like QOS, out of interest how many times have you seen it?
I have QOS fairly low as well, though there is much that I love about it as I do all Bonds.
Craig is superb and looks great here, I love Olga, the running time reminds me of DN, I thought it had a few interesting set pieces as well, and a strong Arnold score.
However, it does seem far more influenced by contemporary content rather than Bond. I feel too many current films that attempt iconic characters tend to get it so WRONG.
QOS comes close to falling in that category as far as I'm concerned. Deliberately departing from so many traditions feels not like an attempt to try something new, but turning it's back on the past.
The camera work looks like something out of a current action drama for television. I almost feel once the title was settled upon, the writers went back and quickly scribbled the word "Quantum" in various sections of the script so that this organization could have a name, shoehorning in a Fleming title. Sloppy, IMO.
As I have clearly become a fan of the Bond universe I will watch it again of course. At least now I know what to expect.
You know, to see QoS after CR was just too much of a shock and disappointment not to say an imposition. I don't understand why EoN would produce such a film after CR, they should have kept the same production team and made it a proper sequel to CR not only in story but direction, style and class. At least there is the fantastic score!
And Camille really is beautiful and adorable!
Of course that is my opinion and please nobody should feel offended, I realize QoS may be high in people's Bond rankings lists.
I have always had CR above it. Not sure about OHMSS. I don't deny FRWL is an extremely good Bond film, but to me CR and OHMSS are simply stronger. FRWL does have Connery, but the Bond girls, action scenes, and stories of CR and OHMSS are tops IMO. But all 3 are absolutely Top 10 entries at the least.

Thunderball and QOS are exactly where they belong
For a most unorthodox rating? Would you put it in the 22-24 range then? And if so, in place of which of the other 3: Goldfinger, Casino Royale, or From Russia With Love?
No, I am just using the opportunity to stamp on it.

Thanks, SP is actually starting to move up my list with each viewing, although it still has a long way to go. I think Craig's films will probably only go up further for me once he leaves the role, I'm gonna miss him as Bond.
