Thunderball is such a great film... it’s the epitome of Bond films.. it-it’s so damn fun, it has Domino and Fiona and they’re gorgeous and and .... it’s just a really great movie and so many people hate on it! 🥺😢😭😰

Every time I put it in I'm like "Ok, this is it, this time I'm going to get it, it's finally going to drop" But it just doesn't.
First and foremost though, let me say: I, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Fiona. She's just so delightfully evil, flamboyant, sexy and just... "Do you like wild things Mr. Bond James Bond? " Heaven.
I love Tom Jones' score, the PTS is one of the better ones, and I really like seeing Nassau in that time period, it's probably one of the best scenes in the entire series in terms of making bond feel Exotic and high-class.
    But...
The film is overstuffed with characters that don't have any sort of depth whatsoever (Paula, Kutze, Pinder, Vargas), The Q scene is awful, The underwater battle drags, there are huge editing problems and the villain explaining the plot, which we then see put to action withóut Bond so we as an audience are forced to have Bond play catch-up with us while we already know every surprise is a worse movie decision than having Bond go over a CGI tsunami.

I actually like that Bond is doing catch-up!

Peter Hunt faced a lot of editing choices as a result of Terence Young’s method of shooting the film. Hunt didn’t get much material to work with.

So I just re watched QOS for the first time in a couple years. I really love that film. I know it’s not a classic “bond film” but what an interesting ride from start to finish. I loved the odd and rare camera angles and cuts from foster. The shots of tanner receiving information from bond during the opera, the chase and fight during the opera, the quick cuts during the chases. Marc foster truly took his own take on it.

Also the movie itself is probably one of the better paced bond films ever IMO. This is all opinion obviously but I really appreciate that film as the bond movie we never thought we needed but totally did for the development of Craig’s bond. Plus, he has the most badass and killer moments in his entire tenure in this film... bring the hate on!! ;)

    👏🏼👏🏼 +1

QOS does a few things better than any other modern Bond...
    - Color; not necessarily cinematography but it’s the most well balanced use of colors, lenses, filters, etc
    - Fashion; excellent choices throughout, highly stylish
    - Locales; I think Italy + London + Haiti + Austria + Bolivia + Russia is about as good as we’ll get
    - Music; best score since Barry, up there with CR
    - Physicality; Craig is BRUTAL here

Congratulations @Max_The_Parrot out of all the ranking since Spectre's release, you are one of 6 out of 687 who has FRWL in the bottom 3, and the only 1 (out of 687) who has MR in top position.

Well, thanks for the info - always knew my Bond tastes were a little against the grain, I suppose it’s nice to have my (bad?) taste officially recognised! The only person to have Moonraker at number one? I feel that deserves some kind of medal! I will dedicate it in honour of Sir Rog!

@w2bond , which entries have no one put as their number 1?

    @Birdleson

On MI6C....Die Another Day and A View To A Kill. Almost TMWTGG but DaltonCraig007
has it #1 (second highest for tmwtgg is 6th)

If you include rankings from all sources, only DAD. 2nd is its highest position

On the other hand, DN, FRWL, OHMSS, TSWLM, TLD, CR don't have a 24th place on MI6C.

Including all sources, amazingly, only TLD doesn't feature at 24th (unless barryt007 decides otherwise...)

    (all rankings are post-Spectre)

So recently I went through each bond film in order with a friend who I showed them too for the first time (he saw all of Brosnan, Dalton and Moore through FYEO a year prior) and during that my ranking changed, so here's my new ranking. The plus and minus signs and numbers represent how far a movie has gone up or down compared to my last ranking

    1. GoldenEye (+0)
    2. Moonraker (+2)
    3. From Russia With Love  (+3)
    4. Die Another Day (-2)
    5. The World Is Not Enough (+2)

You have two of my top three ranked #20 and #22 @Daniel316! :-O

…but we have the ranking of SF and SP at the bottom in common (although I've placed SP last).

Yeah Barry skyfall is at the bottom, I try to give it a chance but everytime I think I'm gonna like a scene either Newman's awful music ruins it or it's ruined by idiotic decision making. Spectre is the same in that regard although I at least can enjoy the 1st hour of spectre but once that brothers thing comes up, it's all downhill and it becomes downright awful though still not Skyfall bad. I don't think I exaggerate when I say I could probably write a Novel on everything I don't like about those 2 movies. As for OHMSS and Thunderball, well those 2 I also have issues with (mainly Thunderball) but I don't think they're bad, I actually like OHMSS a lot even with my big issues with it, but it's just a case of prefering so many others to it

Moonraker so close to that number 1 spot! Maybe I won’t be MR’s only number one fan for long after all! 🤞 Mind you, I do love GE so I can appreciate that! And I’m liking DAD at number 4 ... clearly this @Daniel316 fellow is a man of consummate taste! 🍸
