Haha Maybe one day Moonraker may take over Max, although I don't think anything can truly beat GoldenEye for me but you never know. As for Die Another Day: I've always loved that movie and I never got what the fuss was about, in fact I thought it was well liked until around 2015 or so when I saw people complain about it on the internet. Sure it has issues and I wont deny that but damn it's a fun movie to watch and is highly entertaining which is why it ranks number 4 for me

@Daniel316 I also have all four Brosnan's in my top 10 - like you I just think the films are a blast - just sit back and enjoy the ride. I'm sure our like-minded paths will cross again ... until then, like Dolly and Jaws, I'll raise a glass to you!

So recently I went through each bond film in order with a friend who I showed them too for the first time (he saw all of Brosnan, Dalton and Moore through FYEO a year prior) and during that my ranking changed, so here's my new ranking. The plus and minus signs and numbers represent how far a movie has gone up or down compared to my last ranking

    1. GoldenEye (+0)
    2. Moonraker (+2)
    3. From Russia With Love  (+3)
    4. Die Another Day (-2)
    5. The World Is Not Enough (+2)
    6. Tomorrow Never Dies (-3)
    7. Licence To Kill (-2)
    8. For Your Eyes Only (+1)
    9. The Spy Who Loved Me (+2)
    10. Goldfinger (+0)
    11. A View To A Kill (-3)
    12. The Man With The Golden  Gun (+0)
    13. Diamonds Are Forever (+2)
    14. Octopussy (+3)
    15. Live And Let Die (-2)
    16. Quantum Of Solace (+2)
    17. Casino Royale (+3)
    18. The Living Daylights (+1)
    19. Dr. No (-5)
    20. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (-1)
    21. You Only Live Twice (+2)
    22. Thunderball (-1)
    23. Never Say Never again (-1)
    24. Spectre (+0)
    25. Skyfall (+0)
Even though I disagree with a lot of these rankings, it's great to see a variety of opinions on Bond, and the fact that we have such different tastes but love at the same time shows the greatness of this series. And beside, any man who has TWINE in the top 5 can't be all bad!

Good ranking. Personally I still enjoy a lot of SP. I hope it won't replace DAD in your list. Still believe No Bond movie will ever sink that low!

Moonraker so close to that number 1 spot! Maybe I won’t be MR’s only number one fan for long after all! 🤞 Mind you, I do love GE so I can appreciate that! And I’m liking DAD at number 4 ... clearly this Daniel316 fellow is a man of consummate taste! 🍸

It's certainly watchable. Cringeworthy in places but watchable. Brosnan is fantastic. It's mainly the CGI that kills it and the awful dialogue that is in nail in the coffin. Having said that I have it about 18 in my ranking, above yolt, skyfall and spectre
  • @LeonardPine apologies if you've expressed this on another thread, but what is it about QOS that appeals to you so much? No.8 is quite high, and it is a film I really like. Just interested to see why you like it over generally better regarded films such as SF, TSWLM, and GE.

It usually ranks at 3 or 4 for me. I find it painfully underrated, a wonderful successor to CR with a great style and feel to it that goes beyond the editing - the entire film has a fast-paced, frenetic quickness to it (which makes it even more rewatchable) with Bond always on the move to stop Quantum (or at least Greene) while fighting his desire for revenge. The cinematography is great, the locales are used well, and it's really, really exciting and engaging to me, with lots of nefarious characters and a killer score from Arnold. I could wax poetic about it and praise it endlessly all day, I can't get enough of that film.

TB keeps dipping for me. I don't know what it is exactly but I don't love it like the other Connery films (sans DAF, which is rather hit or miss for the most part).

QOS is sitting pretty at #5 for me. Creasy said it best.
  • I personally love that QOS has a resurgence in popularity. It's becoming one of the most underrated movies in the series. I certainly don't think it is anywhere near as bad as what some people, especially casual film fans, think it is. More than anything it's one of the more interesting and unique films in the series, completely different to anything else that has been done before or since.

Perfectly said. There s nothing more to be said about QOS!

What QoS lacks for me is charm. For what that means, look at DN to GF. It's not a dealbreaker (I like LTK) but it lacks other things I value in my Bond films

I agree with your guy's sentiments with QOS, I feel it's highly overhated and is very engaging, quick, flows well and is very enjoyable to watch even with the awful editing. Hell I even like it more than Casino Royale.

I *really* like QoS's score - it probably beats later Barry's for variety, energy and richness

@2Wint2Kidd I think it's a lean mean Bond film that moves incredibly fast and has no flab so to speak.

It has so many great moments and Daniel Craig is just brilliant in it.

It also has a really good score.

Being a massive fan of the Bourne films this is very similar in style and execution. And it's the sort of Bond film I always wanted and to me it was the right direction to go.

I prefer CR, but QOS has DC's best performance so far imho.

This. It's very rewatchable, has decent action, great cinematography, great score and solid performances. The film is unfortunately undermined by poor editing and a cobbled-up narrative.

There's a lot to like in this film but I also feel that the reason it's starting to be seen in a different light is because many, including myself, have given it repeated viewings over the years, allowing us multiple opportunities to understand the plot and follow what's happening in the action sequences. But I recall that initial experience being incredibly frustrating. I'm sure the reason it hasn't been re-assessed outside the fandom is because most people never cared to give the film more chances beyond that initial viewing.

Oh, yeah, it also has one of the most forgettable villains in the series. Although I know many disagree, which is cool.

There’s a lot of positive rankings for QOS here and yet it was still well down the last league table.
