A somewhat low key start to the Moore era that already has the hallmarks that would define it. Bond's increasing cheekiness. The satirical and inept allies. Fanatical villains (perhaps the best rogues gallery of his era). A spectacular yet grounded set piece with the boat chase. A witty script only let down by the lack of tension and some dragging moments. Still great fun.

The truth is I can't pick a worst film from that era since i love the 4 movies fpr very different reasons
I first said I didn't like much the romantic chemistry between Michelle and Pierce but this second time around i did.
If they didn't kiss or anything before is because they didn't the time hehe but its clear they liked each other and were mutually attracted you can notice so when they are getting cleaned after the bike chace.
They realized that they made a good team and enjoyed each other's company.
Another one with an iconic Sean Connery.
So do I and those are also the ones I bought asap on bluray.
@Szonana, I love TWINE and DAD as well! I even wrote an article for The James Bond Dossier website defending DAD!
Yes both were great at least in my opinion and so was Thunderball and now I have even more appreciatation for that one since I went to the designing 007 expo.
The white dress Domino was wearing in the casino where she met Bond looks so beautiful in person.
It looks so beautiful and timeless.
*gag*
Containing some of the most bizarre sequences committed to Bond cinema (Bond in a bath robe fighting a midget manservant throwing bottles of wine), TMWTGG is a mix of bad humor and poor taste. Aggressively bad tempered, even jolly old Roger looks uncomfortable in his surroundings. Christopher Lee's Scaramanga is the high point as a very interesting and well thought out villain, but cannot save the insanity surrounding him.

@Szonana, I actually have TWINE and Thunderball posters framed! That exhibition sounds great!
The best iteration of the "Bond saves the world" Roald Dahl story. The action is spectacular, the wit is top notch, and Moore is now very comfortable in the Bond role. Jaws is a memorable menace before being neutered in the subsequent installment. The opening ski chase set the standard for pre-title spectacles and you could see future films chase that high bar for years.

Well right now its here in Mexico but it has been touring all over the world, the name of this exbhition is called designing 007
Yes, it's silly. It's also stunningly shot and full of thrills. With Michael Lonsdale as the anchor, John Barry producing an underrated score, and Roger Moore being Roger Moore, MOONRAKER can be very entertaining. Just embrace the silliness and hold on.

The pacing feels a bit wonky, but it's not a problem. For me, this is a highly enjoyable 007 adventure! :D
to see it. :)
Awww! That is wonderful!
Sam Mendes is very sentimental about Live and Let Die, and you see the nods to it in both SKYFALL and SPECTRE. :)
Of my garage into my " Bond room" ( still very much in progress ) ;) so
Able to watch a Bond film with no distractions, on a large screen. Is brilliant.
You really do notice little things you may have missed, looking out your window
at the neighbours. :D
But I have to say, I enjoyed watching it. It may be a bad Bond film but it´s a great comedy! Wint and Kidd are just marvellous. It´s clear that DAF´s been made heavily tongue on cheek and it works very well in that sentence. It´s just sad it followed so great Bond film... but as a pure comedy I love it!
I´m going to see Spectre tonite for the first time, can´t wait!!
Fantastic one-liners. .......... " Named after your father, perhaps " :))
It sums it all :))
The script, dead pan Connery, Tiffany "Blow up your pants" Case, camp Blofeld and pure 70s cheese just make for a bizarre yet godamned entertaining film.
