I had only 2 childhood heroes. Michael Schumacher and Pierce Brosnan. The latter is the one who is important in this review. I will never get tired of spending 2 hours watching Brosnan traveling to exotic locations, bedding the hottest women he comes across and taking part in insanely thrilling action sequences. Being a proper badass, basically. Are Jinx and Christmas Jones annoying? Yes. Are they stupid? Yes. But, by golly, they are smoking hot women and Brosnan is a friggin legend for bedding Rosamund Pike, Denise Richards, Halle Berry and Sophie Marceau in the span of 2 films. I get a bigger and bigger kick each time I hear Arnold's soundtracks. I love his bombastic cues during action scenes, and he never forgets to add the Bond theme when Brosnan does something badass (meaning, one every 3 minutes!!). The plot are simplistic and the movie quite linear, but the pace is very brisk, always something going on, and the movies are over before I realize it. Brosnan had very charismatic allies in his tenure - Tanner, Robinson, Valentin, Wade, Raoul. No matter who people say, I really love the boat chase, ski chase and caviar factory scene in TWINE, and the hovercraft chase, sword fight and ice car chase in DAD. Nothing like watching Brosnan doing insane stuff with Arnold's bombastic score in the background, as I noted earlier.

Nice to see some love for OP and FYEO. I have both in my Top10. I really enjoy the pacing in these films. I also like the darker tone of the 80s Moore films combined with some classic Roger Humor.
Timothy Dalton. The man. The legend. He's the most underrated action hero of all time! His 2 films are insanely rewatchable. Apart from the Afghanistan sequence where the pace dies down a bit (but we still have the lush score from Barry), his 2 outings really fly by. The first hour of TLD is one of my favorite in the entire franchise, pure Bond, and really classy. LTK is fantastic, 2 hours of badass Dalton on a path for revenge. Always shocked when I reach the truck chase, as it feels like the movie has barely started, and I could watch a few more hours of Dalton kicking some major butts. Kara is a major cutie, and Sanchez is one of my favorite villains. The Wave Krest sequence, ending with Dalton water-skiing behind the plane is off the charts. Just 100% Bondian awesomeness.

Still fantastic after all these years. Daniel Craig is a force to be reckoned with (especially in QOS where he delivers an insanely intense and magnetic performance). Martin Campbell took all his experience from GE and turned it up to 11. The parkour chase is in my top 3 action scenes of the last 10 years. Craig owns the role before the PTS in CR finishes (that gunbarrel is one of the most epic intros I have ever seen, still gives me chills). Eva Green as Vesper is one extremely sexy woman, and I will forever thank the film for making me discover the very awesome Mads Mikkelsen. QOS keeps impressing me more and more, the pacing is off the charts. Arnold was firing on all cylinders for these 2 films. Both films are breathtaking to look at, such gorgeous cinematography and lush locations.
Need a movie for tonight, torn between CR, SP and GF. I am watching one each night.

So it's actually been close to 5 years since I screened this one all the way thru. Giving some Bond films breather space makes them feel fresh again. This was one I had been disappointed in it's original release, but now have some nostalgia for that period in 007 history. One thing about the Brosnan films, they were fun to see with an audience. An event as it were.
TND is fairly big and bold, though not quite Lewis Gilbert in scale. I find it holds up well with an excellent Arnold debut score, Pierce in top form and Pryce is a reasonably classic villain in the old school mold. The climax, IMO is still more of a Die Hard/Terminator action style than Bond. Of course you can make the same Bourne comparisons to QoS. Typical of a second outing, really.
Still watching this now really takes me back to December 19, 1997 seeing it with a huge group of friends at a 7pm showing. Then seeing it the next night with another group- a Bond themed party. 2 of the funnest nights I had at the cinema.
I wouldn't mind future Bond films to include this element of fun. SP tried, but it seemed after three darker films, the audiences didn't quite embrace it as they had TND. Either that or SP was just poorly executed.

To think there was once a time that I really didn't enjoy this is crazy, as it's now one of my favorites, and a true classic at that. Everything from the action to the cast to the gorgeous cinematography and score makes this film really special.
From Russia With Love has been my favorite for some time. The plot, the music, the direction, Connery's performance, Robert Shaw as Red Grant, I could go on and on about how much I adore this one. I really could. I point to the scene on the train where Grant has Bond on his knees while telling him him death will be "slow and painful" to be one of the best Bond/Villain face-to-face scenes in the series, and it leads up to the greatest fist fight in the entire series.
I've always liked GoldenEye a lot as well. Maybe not top five but definitely in my top ten. Campbell brought a great look and modernised style in approach to the series through the editing and cinematography that may have been lacking in some of the Moore and Dalton films.
My first time watching both blu-rays on my projector...both prints looked absolutely incredible and can't wait to see how some of the other films look.

Never cared much for AWTAK's pre-title sequence, and didn't this time around either. I don't mind a bit of Beach Boys now and then (Pet Sounds is a really, really great album), but as a comedic effect, I rather they didn't.
Luckily it doesn't take long to improve. The title song is pure gold, and the following scenes are all very entertaining. The San Fransisco hall scene provide the film with some great drama, and the mine scenes really places Zorin with the most evil villains in the series. Didn't find Stacey Sutton to be all that bad Bond girl either.
If AWTAK will rank higher on my Bond list as an effect of enjoying it so much last night, I don't know, but it sure delivers on the entertainment value scale!
How come when I look at the Bond movie rankings on here, hardly anyone even includes NSNA on their lists?
I know it is non-EON, but it is still a Bond movie. I can understand if people hate it, but then it ought to be on the list near the bottom.
It's a Bond film, but it's not part of the series. It is never included in exhibitions or books about James Bond. Even if it is, it's always a side note.
Nevertheless it's definitely more of a Bond film than the first Casino Royale, which is just a comedy.
It's amazing how slow this movie is. We don't get to the Q scene until nearly half way through!
It almost feels too cheesy and contrived in places.
I do also think Craig himself seems a bit more one-note here.
Still fantastic. Just to put me in the mood, I re-read Flemings short story! They really captured that well in the opening sequence! Brilliant Bond movie, Dalton is superb! Havent watched it for a long while! It really holds up well.
He's weaker in the lighter scenes I think (the Q sequence).
Especially when he's about to do the wolf whistle!
That bit is ok but I think he still looks quite awkward.
