I agree. Although a few model shots in GE are a bit obvious, for the most part it is seamless. I'll take model work over CGI effects any day.
To a degree but it's more of a problem of scale; shooting hat a higher frame rate adds an illusion of mass but the scale is still off. For instance drops of water move more slowly but they're too big.
There is actually a shot toward the end of TSWLM where Stromberg's base is on the surface and it is matted into a live-action, moving plate. It is a great shot.
My #1 Bond (TMWTGG) and one a find very, very entertaining (MR). Going on these adventures with Sir Roger never gets boring. Exotic locations (Thailand, Ka Long Bay, Venice, Rio, the Amazon), 2 fantastic soundtracks from Barry, great villains (Scaramanga, Drax, Jaws) and one of my favorite characters in the entire franchise (JW Pepper). And 1 Sir Rog. And what a total legend he is. I love how he lets nothing get under his skin, he seduces every women he stumbles upon, he has a hilarious one liner for every occasion, and looks super suave at all times. I am sure that in 20 years, when his tenure will have ended 50 years ago, I will continue getting a huge blast watching Sir Rog traveling around the world in these very entertaining adventures.
Nothing against it, it is perfect and I love the scene. I just can't fathom how anyone would say GE is cheap.
This is such a mastetful film where there are not enough words to aptly describe just how defenitive this film is.
Watching OHMSS filled me with the unshakable realisation that moving forward with Bond 25 and beyond will require a lot more work from EoN than even they perhaps realise, assuming they're interested in actually making great films instead of just trying to focus on being a box office beast.
A few points I realized if we count Diamonds Aren't forever and Never say Never Again Moore and Dalton are the only Actors who each films name is from Fleming and Moore is the only one who each title is from a novel or short story ( though I Say this in 2016 knowing full well technically they could hire Tom Hardy for example and his 5 films could be The Diamond Smugglers Risico The Property of a Lady 007 in New York and The Hildebrand Rarity but I kind of doubt it) and yes though it drops the From A View to a Kill is still a Fleming title. Anyways with that out of the way it's sort of a strange film and I don't know how I honestly feel about it...
One more sort of point I want to make that seemingly no one picks up on is that the plot of this movie causes Goldeneye to essentially be pointless. Before everyone screams hear me out Goldeneye is about An EMP blast destroying London However in A View to a Kill they built microchips that can stop emp blasts.... yeah unsure about that honestly.
Anyways with those two observations out of the way the film is ok not great not bad just ok. It used to be at the bottom of my list but there are some good points to the film. The opening ski/snowboard sequence is inventive so is the car chase and Walken is well fantastic but overall the film feels almost parody like at times. Tanya Roberts is a wet blanket and annoying as hell. And why is Leighter not even mentioned when Bond goes to San Francisco personally would of been a nice slot for James Brolin Grace Jones is odd and the rest of the cast is just I don't know... it beats out both unofficial Royale's Brolin's screen test Never say Never Again and Moonraker but it's still somewhat bad. Though the score is good.

I will say since I have finished most of the bond actors films I plan on doing a final ranking of actors as well as it stands right now but who knows seeing he final 3 films in my tenure might change that (possibly four depends on if I do watch a play through of Everything or Nothing) those three being The Living Daylights Casino Royale and Diamonds Aren't Forever

GoldenEye
This might have been what the series needed at the time, but I don't think GoldenEye has aged well, especially when compared to it's immediate successor. When the MI6 buidling showed up, I had to bury my head in my hands. A feminists dream the MI6 scenes of GE might be, but it was like watching a machine steadily running, then all of a sudden, there's a bang and the cogs fly off in different directions, followed by a plume of smoke. Samantha Bond is my least favourite Moneypenny, with GE being her worst appearance. It was bad enough to get all of that "sexist misogynist dinosaur" nonsense from M, but also this sass (for want of a better term) from Moneypenny. The Tank chase is by far and away the highlight of the film, and the only scene with the Bond theme in proper (so it isn't just the Craig films that have skimped on the Bond theme).
My 1996-2016 20th Anniversary Bondathon
1. Tomorrow Never Dies
2. The World Is Not Enough
3. Spectre
4. GoldenEye
5. Die Another Day
6. Casino Royale
7. Skyfall
8. Quantum Of Solace
1. Licence to Kill is from fleming's pen making it a Fleming title much like Goldeneye The World is not enough and Spectre
2. Lazenby was also James Bond in the episode of Alfred Hitchcock presents Diamonds Aren't forever and that is not a Fleming title
3. Should a future bond film use the title The Diamond Smugglers honestly I would consider it a Fleming title.
Agreed and Brosnan's only good turn as 007.
Here is Lazenby's actual last turn as 007 with a fan added gunbarrel
Of course it would be really cool if they used the return from the man with uncle scene as sort of a pts and then I don't know put in history repeating as the title song
It does grow on you!
