Connery tops the list of America's favourite British actors but the top 20 has other Bond alumni in it. Daniel Craig gets the 8th place, Judi Dench the 6th, TWINE's Robert Carlyle, and TND's Gerard Butler (why not?) gets the 18th place.

"Connery ranks among the the top 10 Hollywood actors of all time," said Henry Shafer of New York-based Q Scores. "Awareness of Sean Connery and his appeal was strong across the country and with all ages. He was not working so much but he had already transcended the normal run of actors in the way people felt about him. "

He would have got my vote, even though I am Canadian, but I think the Canadian movie market is pretty similar to the USA market.

Man From Uncle's,David McCallum in 4th place. Very nice. His more recent work in NCIS is probably helping too.

Keifer Sutherland I thought was Canadian. His dad certainly is. But he was born in London, so that's that, even if he is of very Canadian heritage.

Okay, @Samuel001, I won't go there. Even though I so wanted to.

For me: (not in any particular order) FAV BRITISH ACTORS
(who are still living, otherwise the list would be tripled) ...

    Sean Connery
    Peter O'Toole
    Michael Caine
    Pierce Brosnan
    Liam Neeson
    Judi Dench
    Hugh Laurie
    Philip Glenister
    Anthony Hopkins
    Daniel Craig
    Timothy Dalton
    Roger Moore
    Colin Firth
    Helen Mirren
    Hugh Grant
    Emma Thompson
    Kate Winslet
    Keeley Hawes
    Matthew MacFadyen
    Maggie Smith
    Robert Carlyle
    Miranda Richardson
    Idris Elba
    Robbie Coltrane
    James Nesbitt

Ok, stopping at 25. I do enjoy others, too, of course. And I probably left other favorites off, this was a quick list.

Past ones, I have plenty, for sure.

I also should add Bill Nighy to my list. :)

Certainly is some great names up there! Have to say that it does bring a smile to my face that Sean still pulls them in, even though he retired some years ago! :-bd

I find it funny how Sean Connery of all people topped a list of best British actors. Well deserved though, he's a good actor and a brilliant James Bond.

Question: How the hell does Michael Caine not make that list?

He doesn't have a choice! He's Scottish and therefore British.
