Any idea what happened to Sky? Having the rights for a year, what a joke on their part.

I get the impression Sky did it just to try and get a few extra subscribers by hitching themselves to the 50th and SF bandwagons.

Yes those were my thoughts too. ITV really f***ed up didn't they. Probably never crossed their minds that Sky wanted the rights.

With soon to be 23 films, one a week would fill almost half a year on the schedule. Why can't they do this every once in a while?

They do it on channel one in New Zealand.

I'm so glad Sky UK no longer have the rights to Bond. They have too many shows that one must pay for to see which are otherwise free in other countries.

This is exactly right. Sky's remit is to shift boxes, even above viewing figures. That's why there was such a targeted marketing drive, followed by... nothing.

Very cynical of them, but of course you are correct there, Ice.
  • Great news, lets hope ITV make sure we get a classic one on or around Chritmas day. It's traditional and gets me in the festive holiday mood.

Yeah it's always a good excuse to listen to "Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?"

Sky deserve everything they get then, if that's the case. Hopefully Skyfall is on next Christmas.

Agreed. That's why I always watch it Christmas Eve, the DVD though as its not on TV on Christmas Eve as it should by law surely? :-)

I like to watch OHMSS around Christmas time too. At least within 2 weeks of Christmas. Sometimes on Xmas day night and Xmas eve. One film I always watch on Xmas eve is 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation'. Hilarious film.

I watched it for the first time last year and I think its going to be a regular at Christmas! I must admit, though, my inner child yearns for the first Home Alone!

I always had Christmas Vacation on VHS and then I bought the DVD in England and the part where Clark (Chevy Chase) says "...Danny f*****g Kaye was cut and changed to "...Danny dancing Kaye, and to be frank, it's just not as funny without the "f" word there. He's freaking out again and swearing in front of his family as he does which is always funny. I was quite disappointed to hear that the curse was replaced with "dancing".

Haven't seen Home Alone in ages. Will have to check these two films out again.

I love Lampoons Christmas Vacation also and always watch it during the build up to Christmas.

My Christmas Eve tradition always remains the same. Polar Express early evening followed by OHMSS late evening whilst enjoying a fine single malt.

Coming back on topic, I hope ITV put on a good selection of Bond over the festive period.
