I'm watching the Lep films at a rate of one per week. I finished Lep 3 just two days ago. So I'll be going into space and twice to the hood before I explore the little one's origins. ;-)

I'm sorry to hear you'll be exploring both of those films. ;)

That needs to be re-posted on Valentine's day. ;) I wonder what a female version would look like.

We can start our own Horror Romance business! :-)

  • If any horror aficionados are interested, I've been doing a horror film countdown to Halloween on my film blog. Just posted my thoughts on Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula: enjoythecrawl.wordpress.com/2014/10/19/13-for-halloween-bram-stokers-dracula-1992/

@Some_Kind_Of_Hero, thank you for that blog!
I like the movie to be honest. I like Oldman as Dracula, I like the little artistic tricks Coppola applies. And the score is indeed mesmerizing.

I found Oldman the only Dracula worth seeing after Lee, loved it when I watched it at the cinema!

That film is a work of art.

Nice blog, i'll make a note of checking your blog posts. As for Coppola's Dracula, that is one of my least favourite Dracula films. The best, imo, are still Dracula (1931), Dan Curtis's Dracula, Nosferatu The Vampyre, The Satanic Rites Of Dracula and Horror Of Dracula.
  • Thanks for checking out my post, guys. Yes, it's a wonderful score, @DarthDimi. It suits the film perfectly.

Coppola's isn't exactly my favorite either, but I do like how closely it follows the book. I find it a flawed but very interesting film.

Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre is probably my favorite take on Dracula.

As a lifelong horror fan, I feel really ashamed to admit this, but while I do have a copy of Dracula by Bram Stoker, I have not read it.
  • Do read it when you have a chance. It's one of my favorite works of horror (along with Richard Matheson's I Am Legend). It's written in the form of letters, telegrams, diary entries, etc. from all the principle characters, and while it is on the long side, it definitely keeps you engaged.

The Coppola film is indeed the closest to the book (of the ones I have seen at least). I must confess that I found the book a bit boring.
  • Parts of the book do go on. I think I just like the atmosphere so much that I don't mind staying in that world for longer.

A group of horror fans (and at one point, just one fan) binge watches/reviews/timelapse the Friday The 13th film series:

    http://bloody-disgusting.com/videos/3318947/5-friends-binge-watch-friday-13th-franchise-record/

For making it through part 5, they deserved a medal, each.

I think they were a bit unfair in calling TNB boring, but everything else they said about it sums up my own throughts on it, more or less.
And they were more positive towards JGTH than I was expecting. Jason X too, it's not bad like it's reputation makes it out to be.
  • oh god, I love the series, but couldn't imagine watching all of them in a row like that! Interesting read, thanks for sharing!

I'm not sure I'm interested in a TV series. The first episode may be fresh enough but how will they keep things that way? Either they keep it centred around Ash, in which case I wonder how predictable and repetitious things may have gotten by episode 5 or 6, or they bring in many central characters, in which case Ash may get degraded to a level unworthy of his royal badassness.

I definitely would prefer a feature length film Evil Dead 4 or AoD 2, whatever you want to call it. I won't get too picky though, as I never thought we'd see BC as Ash again.

I'd rather have a Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. The comic worked out very well!
  • Bruce Campbell back as Ash is fantastic news! I was just thinking when I revisited the Evil Dead remake last month how cool it would be for Campbell to return as Ash in a sequel. I too would prefer to see Ash in a feature film, but with the ever-rising standards of quality in television series, I'm just as excited for a 10-episode Evil Dead series. With Ash's dimension-traveling capabilities and their idea of exploring Ash's personal demons while he battles Evil Dead's literal demons there is plenty you could do over 10 episodes. Count me in!

Or Army Of Darkness vs Re-Animator.

I'll reserve my judgement until we know more. Starring could turn out to mean narrated by or even a supporting role.

Actually I have a Danger Girl - Army Of Darkness crossover. :D Now there's something we both might enjoy, @MajorDSmythe. ;-)
