If Bond didn't exist, there wouldn't be...?

Just a thought I had. Lets say that if Ian Fleming never wrote the Bond novels (which would lead to no films), what wouldn't exist today that is a consequence of James Bond.
For example, there would be no Austin Power films. Arguably, the British film industry would not be as strong as it is today. Post your own.

No The Man From UNCLE, no Len Deighton or John Le Carre to rail against Bond I'd wager, too.

Peter Fleming would be known as the author in the family.

What would Sean Connery's career have been?

No one would know who George Lazenby is.

Would Shirley Bassey be a dame without Bond or merely the Welsh Cilla Black?

Would Aston Martin be the English Ferrari as it is today or would they have gone the way of TVR?

Cubby and Harry would never have got together and probably would have ended up as unknown but moderately successful producers you have never heard of.

Would MGW just be a lawyer somewhere?

Pinewood probably would have struggled to stay open. Certainly without Bond showing big pictures could be made in England it's doubtful the likes of Star Wars and Indy would have come here (it's tempting to say there would be no Indy but while its correct to say Spielberg directed it because of his desire to do Bond, Lucas based the concept on the old serials of the thirties so there's no reason to think Indy would never have existed but for Bond).

The talentless parasites at IFP living off Fleming's back would have had to get a proper job.

We would all hopefully be doing something more productive with our lives rather than sitting on this website day after day.

Well said, and I'll keep my word on the last one of those after tonight, Ice.
