Hmm, just as I thought. Despite some pretty hefty individual ratings, LALD remains in the mid-seventies %, wise. I have it at 75ish%, and ahead of AVTAK in my rankings, which is where it ended up in our provisional ratings. A worthy, but unremarkable entry in the Bondian cannon. Curiously, LALD was only a fraction behind SF....
Feel free to comment, and another Bond coming soon!!!
As for LALD, I see it differently every time I watch it, but definitely somewhere in the middle for me :)
We have yet to rate Connery's best film, and I guess that will change things. There are some other strong films that might get somewhere closer to the top runners I reckon, like Spy... and DAD could be a dark horse too...
No, Thunderball has already been done.
I meant NSNA of course...

Would you care to explain to us such a harsh evaluation of Quantum of Solace?
I gues somebody really does not like the movie, as is his prerogative.
Yeah, just wait till you get to my scores for DAD. 14% will seem relatively kind by then. ;-)
I'm not taking issue with his opinion. I'm just interested as to why it has received the lowest score ever given in this thread so far. I'm not a hardcore QOS fan, far from it, but I'm curious as to why 5 categories scored a big fat zilch, for example.
I don't mean to sound as though I'm avoiding giving you my agenda for my hatred of this particular Bourne, sorry Bond film, but there is just so much wrong with this film from a Bond standpoint and from a filmmaking standpoint. It really would take me too long to write it all on this forum, and it's getting late so most of my comments at this point are about 2 lines long. Perhaps another day. However though, I am proud of the fact that I have given QOS the lowest score ever recorded on this thread. I'm always treading new ground.
I didn't even know we were allowed to give "zilches"... But if so it is good to keep in mind for when DAD comes along, MOHAHAHAA! :ar! [..]
Is there such a thing as a minus percentage? :D
I wouldn't think so, but with DAD I guess we can always make an exception ;)
Okay, I was just curious. This thread does lead to some, erm, enlightening scores. I just thought, even as you said you don't take issue with Craig's performance and gave it a three, that you were "cutting your nose off to spite your face".
Well, I think the average for QOS will now be considerably low!
Regarding DAD. I'm sure we will have to take scores of <14% as the norm! Even though it's my least favourite, I'm not too sure whether it will be as low as that...who knows, only time will tell.
Oh, I fear you may have misunderstood, I should have made it a bit more specific, but I did mean I like his performance overall as Bond in CR and Skyfall, but in this film all the other aspects just drag down his performance and my view is that the film itself actually ruined his performance.
1. Direction - 5 (Thank goodness Marc Foster was not brought back)
2. Screenplay - 6
3. Script - 7
4. Plot - 5 (Could have held out for more than 60% of Bolivia's water supply. Better yet, I'm sure there was another country with more water)
5. Action - 8 (Plenty of it)
6. Main Villain - 6 (Greene was slimy enough to be passable. Outrageous that he wasn't shown meeting his maker.)
7. Main Bond Girl - 6 (Olga is an attractive enough girl, just not a good fit as a main Bond girl. Also reprehensible that she didn't get shagged).
8. Bond - 8 (Would have been better is Craig wasn't portrayed as a naughty boy who didn't mind mother.)
9. Sets - 7
10. Music - 5 (I give it a 10 for Tosca and a -5 for Jack White and Alicia Keys)
11. Cinematography - 6 (Would have been better if the camera stayed still during the pre-title sequence).
12. Fleming - 6 (Mostly in title only, but there were enough Fleming elements in QOS)
/5
13. Supporting Cast - 2 (Low for Mommy M and the worst henchman in the franchise's history).
14. Main Titles - 2 (The graphics were fine, but a cat coughing up a hairball would have sounded better).
15. Plausibility - 4 (Realistic enough that a South American dictator would have been dumb enough to sign over 60% of their water)
16. Pace - 2 (Waaaaaaaay too fast)
17. Editing - 4 (Not DAD horrible, but the CGI could have used a bit of fine tuning)
