I love this movie, flaws and all! I do think it gets picked on quite harshly, but there are undoubtedly problems.

I agree, @2Wint2Kidd! SP is currently being die-another-dayed into deep shame, but I predict that it's only a matter of time before people realise that while the film struggles in some places, it deserves some re-appraisal overall.

A rather modest showing from SP, but not too unexpected, alas.

    Die Another Day, 2002

    /10
    1. Direction – 6 (Apart from his bizarre CGI wave, and over reliance on sheer spectacle in the final half, Tamahori’s direction is efficient, muscular and brisk)
    2. Screenplay – 6
    3. Script – 4 (Like most of their work, the outlines to the plot are rather good, from Purvis and Wade, but their actual script is kind of lacking)
    4. Plot – 6
    5. Action – 8 (is it too much? Probably. Do I enjoy it? Most definitely)
    6. Main Villain – 7 (Stephens’ chews the stage in a parody of our man James)
    7. Main Bond Girl – 3
    8. Bond – 8 (It’s a shame that Brosnan’s best performance came in such a derided movie)

For me, MR scores much higher in this type of system than it would in my straight rankings, due to the fact that I find many of the various components (score, sets, models, stunt work, etc.) to be substantially stronger than the whole.

My thoughts exactly; and it looks like our rankings so far are quite similar with the exception of DAD and SP ;)

Same score as Spectre and i think that is fair on this moment. As my earlier comments about that movie feels a bit Moonraker to me and Oberhouser remember me a lot to drax. It was first time i vote on Sp and i give other movies a litle bit more then last time. Mabey after this game i can make finaly my top 24. Whyle i stil don't like Idea it be without a second view of Spectre and how it reflect with flaws of MR / DAD. Last time i official make top 23 was in May 2014. Since then i think i am a litle bit more positieve about Moonraker.

    Community Ratings 2021 -

    1. Dr No – 81.14%
    2. Moonraker – 70.75%
    3. Spectre – 61.70%
    4. Die Another Day – 55.08%

Moonraker takes second position, with quite a healthy gap to third. As @Birdleson said, Moonraker often has a better time with this type of categories system, than just a pure rankings. Which means that YOLT, Spy and GF should benefit from this system we’re currently running on. A greatest hits scoring type of thing, if you will.

    * By the by, if you could include your final totals for the film we’re dissecting, that would be great. E.G 127/150.

Look up! Look down! Look out! It is only......

    Thunderball, 1965

    /10
    1. Direction – 8 (Young’s direction is of course urbane and stylish, but struggles with keeping up the pace, somewhat)
    2. Screenplay – 7 (Not one of Fleming’s best novels, and that is translated in the screenplay)
    3. Script – 9
    4. Plot – 8 (and at that time, novel and scary)
    5. Action – 8
    6. Main Villain – 8
    7. Main Bond Girl – 8
    8. Bond – 10 (A perfect blend between Fleming’s 007 and the cinematic 007)
    9. Sets – 9
    10. Music – 10
    11. Cinematography – 10 (Beautiful photography by Ted Moore)
    12. Fleming – 8

    /5
    13. Supporting Cast – 4
    14. Main Titles – 4
    15. Plausibility - 3
    16. Pace - 3
    17. Editing – 3 (screen wipes, Peter? This isn’t Star Wars old boy!)
    18. Tilt – 5

    125/150 = 83.33%

    Royale's Ranking -
    1. Dr No – 84.66%
    2. Thunderball – 83.33%
    3. Moonraker – 76.66%
    4. Die Another Day – 64.66%
    5. Spectre – 60.66%

So close to beating Dr No! In my rankings, Dr No always triumphs over Thunderball. (DN is at #4 and TB at #7, I think.)
