    Watched DN last night, meant to update the list. Might do FRWL and GF today, but either way, DN is by far my favorite outing of Connery's and is probably Top 5 material.

    True. But that's because Hunt was filming 'the book' which came before YOLT. But yes odd never the less given that the title sequence emphasizes that it is the 'same Bond universe'.

    Had a double feature of TLD and LTK. TLD was mixed once again. I do like the first act but the attempts at humor just fall flat to me, it was a little more enjoyable this time but it went down a spot given TMWTGG was a much better viewing than last time. When Bond is drugged it falls flat for me and the rest of the movie is a chore. I've always enjoyed Licence to Kill more and there isn't a change there. Almost there just 8 more films to go.

    Last night I watched Diamonds are Forever. After the brilliant OHMSS, this is a poor follow up. Diamonds Are Forever is often described as a Roger Moore film starring Sean Connery, but it goes even farther than that. Whereas Moore ushered in ironic/silly codings, Diamonds contains the most overtly camp humour the series ever indulged in. Whilst Sean Connery is the best 007 generally, this is his worst film (including NSNA). He looks overweight and quite frankly 'scruffy' in some of the scenes (notably at Willard Whytes House). Live & Let Die is next......which I know will be an improvement. DAF question: Bar the pre-titles, Bonds seems not to care about the death of Tracy??? DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER is a turning point in the series; the gritty Flemingesque, class and pseudo-realism of the early films is gone in favor of camp comic book camp dross.

    Does Bond care about Tracy in the pre-titles? He seems determined to get Blofeld, but that could be just as easily attributed to Blofeld escaping in YOLT. I think OHMSS was being completely ignored here.

    As I mentioned in another thread, it was apparently intended as a soft reboot of the series originally, with more of an American tinge.

    DAF is an odd one. On paper the film looks like a huge pile of sh*t, but Barry's soundtrack and Connery visibly having the time of his life, it turns out to be a hugely entertaining film, despite very poor production values.

    Yes @Thunderfinger, DAF has the most colourful bunch of characters in the series.

    For me DAF is a bit of a turd. Everyone involved just bent over for King Connery and let him get away with being in terrible shape and basically looking a bit of a mess just because they were so desperate for him to star, the rest of the budget was used up also giving us some horrendous effects work and a pathetic oil tanker finale!

    DAF was certainly rushed. It helps if you can put OHMSS out of your mind. As a follow up to YOLT it becomes a lot more enjoyable.

    Connery is way out of shape in DAF, I agree, but I don't think anyone can claim he isn't visibly having a ton of fun, or that he didn't ace the one liners.

    I had a great time watching DAF in my latest Bondathon. In fact it has moved up from the bottom of my rankings, which it held for quite a few years.

    Connery is the man. Even in DAF, if one can look beyond his obvious physical deterioration compared to the earlier films, it's clear he's in control of the role like no other imho. Effortless.
