I know the Bond franchise did some promotional things with Disney, but I still don't know how they get away with this Special Agent Oso type stuff.

Swinging the pendulum back, Disney's Oso was preceded by Danger Mouse (1981-1992), 10 seasons of titles that played on well-known films and books. Nothing on Bond more maybe than a character named Penfold.

Then Danger Mouse returned in 2015 and went sort of Bond title crazy.

It's very worth it - I grew up watching the 80s version and I think I like the new one even more! Full of jokes that are obviously for the grown-ups, e.g. the one where DM and Penfold end up working in the IT Crowd office.

    16/02/2020 Gordon The Optom

Oh my god you guys! It’s a musical mashup of Legally Blonde and everyone’s favourite British super spy, James Bond!

We’re looking for actors, singers, dancers, lovers and fighters to audition for the UWA Pantomime Society’s first semester musical. This is a musical production, but there are plenty of non-singing parts available if you love being onstage but aren’t confident with smashing out the high notes.

You don’t need to be a UWA student to audition for this show, so if you want to see what Elle Woods gets up to when James Bond is in the mix, come on down to UWA on the 28th or 29th of Feb to show off your chops!

Production week is from the 11th to 16th of May, with performances on the 14th, 15th and 16th.

The Man from Z.O.M.B.I.E.: A Man from Z.O.M.B.I.E. Novel - Book One, Geoff Gillan
It is the early 1960s. A secret war is being waged within the Cold War between the agents of Z.O.M.B.I.E. (Zero Organic Members of the Bureau of International Enforcement) and its rival, P.U.R.I.T.A.N. (The Peoples Union for the Reclamation of International Terror, Anarchy and Nihilism). These opposing Deep States contend for global power by any means possible -- even weaponizing the newly dead. Z.O.M.B.I.E. wishes to preserve the autonomy of nations to decide their own destiny; P.U.R.I.T.A.N. wants to cause chaos and anarchy as a pretext to bringing about their own order at the cost of jackbooted tyranny.

Agent John Seven is one of Z.O.M.B.I.E.'s newest weapons: a “Zero agent,” a man brought back from the dead to serve his cause unquestioningly, without pain, without hesitation, without end. He is built to be a machine, but Seven is plagued by dreams and images of a life he once had. Weaponized corpse to some, zombie to others, his mission objectives also include suppressing an appetite for human flesh.

The Man from ZOMBIE: Book One

The first novel-length adventure of Agent John Seven, the Man from Z.O.M.B.I.E., undead 1960s superspy.

In a cinematically high octane pursuit that reaches from betrayal in Hungary, to zombie factories in Tajikistan, Seven learns that being already dead is no protection against the Cold War's wilderness of mirrors, intrigues and deceptions. In a world of zombie versus spy, it isn't just the opposition that is on the menu…

Zero in the Dolomites: A Man from Z.O.M.B.I.E. Short Story, Geoff Gillan, Dean Engelhardt (Illustrator)
An introduction to Agent John Seven and the zombie superspy world of the Man from Z.O.M.B.I.E.

Seven is in Switzerland and Italy, hunting stolen bodies carrying a secret chemical created by his own agency. With only a deeply conflicted Handler, a dubious local agent and the knowledge stolen from another man’s brain, Seven must recover or destroy the bodies before P.U.R.I.T.A.N. can claim them for their own nefarious ends…

The Black Paw (Spy Mice #1), Heather Vogel Frederick,
For Oz Levinson, life is always the same. No matter what school he goes to, it's always sharks -- bullies -- versus everyone else. What would Oz's hero, James Bond, aka 007, do? He would make mincemeat of the sharks. But Oz is no 007 -- more like double-o-lard.

Then Oz meets Glory Mouse, a skateboarding private eye trying to take down the evil rat leader, Roquefort Dupont, and Oz is swept into a exciting world of espionage. But this is no make-believe movie. It's real life: mice vs. rats, kids vs. bullies, good vs. evil.

And all the power lies in one paw.

    THE SPY MICE ARE BACK!

Just when Glory Mouse, private eye, and Oz Levinson, fifth-grade sleuth, think the evil rats have lost, it's time to get back to the race....

On a trip to New York City, Oz, Glory, and the spy gang discover that the Big Apple is swarming with rats...rats who can READ!

And if they don't think fast, Glory will be mousemeat pie just in time for the rat's feast.

Goldwhiskers (Spy Mice #3), Heather Vogel Frederick. Sally Wern Comport (Illustrator).
Winter break is off to an exciting start with Oz and D. B. jetting off to London for Oz¹s mom¹s opera premiere. And Glory Goldenleaf, private eye, comes along for a pleasure trip.

But this jolly holiday winds up being anything but when Goldwhiskers, the richest rat in the entire world, is discovered enslaving the orphan mice of Great Britain to do his thievery.

And when the Crown Jewels are stolen, Oz, D. B., and Glory are in store for a James-Bond-meets-Scotland-Yard kind of mission the likes of which the spy world has never seen!

Chapter 13 - A Whisper of Love, A Whisper of Hate
Bond softly exhaled a cloud of tobacco smoke. He still had a chance. Now he was really faced with the moment of truth. Le Chiffre slapped the shoe, slipped out a card, Bond's fate, and slowly turned it face up.

It was a nine, a wonderful nine of hearts, the card known in gipsy magic as 'a whisper of love, a whisper of hate', the card that meant almost certain victory for Bond.

    Description
A hilarious new addition to my mash up plays! Bonderella combines the stories of James Bond and Cinderella. In this silly, witty adaptation, Bonderella is pressed into service as a secret agent in order to unearth enough evidence to put her evil stepmother, Lady Tremalignant, behind bars. While spying, Bonderella discovers Lady Tremalignant’s plan to give Prince Charm-Your-Socks-Off a love potion at the ball in order to get him to fall in love with one of her daughters, and Bonderella is forced to go to the ball to stop her!

This play is a great drama tool as it parallels the Ontario Drama curriculum so nicely. This script allows students to engage in drama exploration and role play (B1.1), demonstrate an understanding of the element of role and establish its dramatic context (B1.2), communicating thoughts, feelings, and ideas using audio, visual, and/or technological aids (B1.4), as well as reflect, respond and analyze their dramatic experiences (B2.1, B2.2, B2.3). This play could be a unit in and of itself! It's also a great school performance idea, as all ages can enjoy this production!

I wrote this play with an older performing group in mind. As it is a long, and rather involved play, I imagine it would be best suited for grades 5 and up. There are 25 roles available, however, I have included some ideas for how those roles could be altered to allow for more or less students, as well as how to accommodate some less enthousiastic performers.

    Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella:_From_Fabletown_with_Love

Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love was an American comic book limited series published by Vertigo Comics in 2009 and 2010, and set in the world of Fables. The story portrays Cinderella as a secret agent, performing missions on behalf of Fabletown. Its title is an allusion to the James Bond novel From Russia, with Love.

The series was written by Chris Roberson with art by Shawn McManus and cover art by Chrissie Zullo; a compilation of the six issues was published in August 2010. From Fabletown with Love was followed up with the mini-series Cinderella: Fables Are Forever in 2011.

If that's from Page 1 of 2014 discussion I'm afraid there's not enough detail there to identify them any longer. They look like a good concept with beautiful execution, @Gerard.

Polar Bears are Forever (Supernatural Enforcers Agency #1). E.A. Price, 2015.
As part of the Supernatural Enforcers Agency, polar bear shifter Gunner Christiansen can handle just about anything thrown at him. He wasn’t thrilled to have a human foisted onto his team, but he could deal with it. What he couldn’t deal with was the fact that he couldn’t keep his paws off her.

Psychic Erin Jameson is thrilled to be promoted to the Agency’s Alpha team. She’s spent years as the oddball that nobody gave a second thought to – talking to ghosts that no one else can see isn’t exactly great for your reputation – but now it’s her chance to prove how useful she can be. There’s just one little problem – her smoking hot polar bear boss. Just a look from him has the power to turn her into a quivering mess.

Now, shifters are going missing, and one of the shifters has just turned up dead with his heart cut out. Can they keep their minds off each other long enough to catch the killer?

Caution! This does contain swearing (there’s a lot of use of the f word!), as well as scenes of a sexual nature with m/f interaction intended for mature readers.

For Your Paws Only (Supernatural Enforcers Agency #2), E.A. Price, 2015.
Life was pretty straightforward for Cutter, a wolf shifter and an agent for the Supernatural Enforcers Agency – solve cases, attend anger management classes and avoid the attentions of a cute but tenacious hedgehog shifter. That is until his old partner is murdered, and a witness from a former case goes missing. Now, Cutter finds himself the prime suspect and with nowhere else to turn but to the one person he knows won’t betray him.

Curvy hedgehog shifter Lucie has spent a year chasing the commitment phobic wolf, and is she downhearted that he still runs in the opposite direction when he sees her coming? You bet your sweet patootie she isn’t! He may be playing hard to get, but she’ll wear him down yet. But, before she can say nutty fudgkins, Lucie comes home to find her wolf, naked and bleeding all over her couch, and Lucie, in spite of his howling objections, is determined to help him solve his case.

While working shoulder to, uh, shoulder, can Lucie convince him that she’s the right hedgehog for him? And will Cutter finally give in and admit to the feelings that have been dogging him ever since the adorable hedgehog bounced into his life?

You Only Live Nine Times (Supernatural Enforcers Agency #3), E.A. Price, 2015.
Tiger shifter Isis Martin isn’t thrilled about being dragged out to a cemetery in the middle of the night, conveniently forgetting that she volunteered for it. But her annoyance at running around a creepy cemetery in the wet and the dark, even her fury at being pushed into an open grave disappears when she’s pulled from her early grave by the velvety voiced human Detective Rafael Silva.

While Isis and Raf try to figure who, or what, has been relieving graves of their corpses, Isis tries to come to terms with her inner tiger who is determined to make the human her mate, her oncoming heat and the ghost of her mom who just won’t stop haunting her!

Shifters’ corpses are being stolen, but can Isis keep her paws off her human detective long enough to solve the case?

That strip was reprised in a special in the seventies, and I bought it. Lost it since, though.

All the MAD Bond parodies are great. There is a thread here somewhere that collects many of them.

Yes I had that exact issue back in the 70s as well, @Gerard, and replaced it a few years ago. Really enjoyed those.

The last two were translated in french, back when they were trying to do a french edition of Mad. The magazine didn't last very long, IIRC. But some of Don Martin's strips found their way in the magazine Pilote.

I thought it was interesting how this title was applied.

The World Is Not Enough, Zoé Oldenbourg, 1946. Willard R. Trask (translator).

Everyone wants to be successful, but we often find it on news and infotainment shows that many successful people who have careers as entrepreneurs, artists, intellectuals, writers, and even wives of world princes actually have unhappy lives both in their homes and careers. Many of their life stories end with unhappy endings such as proven corruption, imprisonment, proven cheating, divorce, and suicide. The worldly success that we see or hear is not matched by heavenly success. Judging success by mere measures of material success which is not matched by spiritual success will trigger greed, envy, envy, frustration, stress, and spiritual uneasiness. All of that will trigger us to do things that are not praiseworthy in achieving our goals or living a life of success. Conversely, someone who has a balance between material and spiritual success will be a source of inspiration and radiate positive energy to his surroundings, making him more creative and productive. This balance will appear at any time because the person is grateful for what he gets (? To want what we have?) While pursuing a career or trying to get what he wants (? To have what we want?). In this book we will discuss how we find a balance between spiritual success that will lead us to material success. This is because the eyes of the soul are open to see universal truths according to conscience. Because we follow this supreme nature, we will be led to find "conscience", towards a stage of life, when we feel at the peak of happiness in doing or choosing something. If this soul's will continues to be carried out, it will not only be spiritually happy but will also result in worldly success. The book The World Is Not Enough is a book series Management Based on Conscience which was previously also written by Ir. Goenardjoadi Goenawan, MM and Ir. Steafanus Indrayana, MBA. A future title.
The World Is Not Enough: A Biography of Ian Fleming, Oliver Buckton, 2021.
The definitive history of the flamboyant life of Ian Fleming and his most famous creation, James Bond.
    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55993019-the-world-is-not-enough?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=bIhtr55txy&rank=14es

This new biography of Ian Fleming presents a fresh and illuminating portrayal of the iconic creator of James Bond. Oliver Buckton provides the first in-depth exploration of the entire process of Ian Fleming's writing--from initial conception, through composition, to his involvement in the innovative publication methods of his books. He also investigates the vital impact of Fleming's work in naval intelligence during World War Two on his later writings, especially the wartime operations he planned and executed and how they drove the plots of the James Bond novels. Buckton considers the vital role of wartime deception, disinformation, and propaganda in shaping Fleming's later techniques and imaginative creations. Offering a radically new view of Fleming's relationships with women, Buckton traces the role of strong, independent, and intelligent women such as Maud Russell, Phyllis Bottome, and his wife, Ann, on Fleming's portrayal of female characters. The book concludes with a thorough analysis of the James Bond films from Eon productions, and their influence in promoting, while also distorting, the public's recognition of Fleming's writing.
