Christopher Nolan seems to be a polarizing name on our forums. Some worship him (I for one), some consider him overrated to the max. But whatever your opinion on the man, we can agree that his last couple of films, Inception included, achieved huge theatrical success, both critically and financially. So let's buckle up for the next Nolan film: Interstellar.

I have actually been looking forward to this film since 2006 when Spielberg was said to direct. Kip Thorne, wormholes, ... yeah, that's like someone out there knows exactly where my interests peak. But not much happened since '06. Then Nolan got attached. And I have loved all of Nolan's films so far! Especially after Inception I'm convinced that Nolan can do a cerebral, well thought-out science fiction film, a hard science fiction film.

So this is me sharing my enthusiasm for this film with you all. My countdown had begun...

Besides Godzilla, this is my most anticipated film of 2014. Not only is it a cerebral sci-fi thriller, but it has my favorite director at the helm. Can't wait!
  • I can't wait for this one. I'm a bit of a space nut so this is right up my alley. Matthew McConaughey is a fine actor as well who was in another amazing movie 'Contact', Carl Sagan's other masterpiece aside from his Cosmos series.

This could well be one of the best films of the year. I'm eager to learn more about it.

Nolan could film a plant growing and I'd still go see the footage in theaters. I'm going to see this, obviously.

When I've seen the film, my first thought will no doubt be: what would Spielberg have done with this? ;-) You see I'm a fan of both.

I love Contact and Cosmos. I've watched the series and I've read the book. :-) Good call, @Coldfinger!

Not too many details about the plot have been released but I recently watched another trailer and the wormhole certainly looks very good!

@DarthDimi, I watched the second trailer when it was released and I am limiting myself to that. The film looks to be full of grand detail and tons of secrets within the plot, and whether anything is given away in the trailers or not, I'm restricting myself to a two-trailer limit with films I'm interested in now. By the time it's out, I'll recall a few scenes and the majority of the movie will be a surprise that I can't piece together because I watched the full trailer 6,000 times in a row. :D

I'm still not quite convinced about Nolan, but I'm looking forward to this for McConaughey more than anything. In recent years he has picked very interesting projects and varied roles and has been either very good or absolutely brilliant in them, so I'm basically interested in seeing whatever he's doing nowadays. Interesting cast otherwise, too.

@Tuulia, that's what I'm loving about McConaughey lately: he went from doing mostly romcoms or action-comedies, to winning an Oscar for 'Dallas Buyers Club' - which was fantastic - starring in 'True Detective' - also fantastic - and now a big Christopher Nolan film. I read some early review (which could've been made up, but if not...) that said that this film is going to rival all space films before it, and will be like nothing we've ever seen in cinema. That's a pretty big thing to live up to, given the praise and popularity of films such as '2001' and 'Gravity,' so I suppose time will tell. Either way, if McConaughey brings more of his talent to the table, this will surely be one amazing project.

    Sounds interesting...
Yes, I loved him in Dallas Buyers Club (and I love that movie), Mud, The Wolf Of Wall Street (a small but memorable role), and obviously True Detective (I may have mentioned that before...). I quite liked Lincoln Lawyer, I didn't particularly like Bernie, but it was interesting anyway, I didn't much care for Magic Mike, but he was by far the best thing in it. I've yet to see Killer Joe and The Paper Boy.

I knew there were a few roles I forgot about. He was incredible in 'Mud,' that film really surprised me. I was actually upset that he wasn't in 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' more, but given his role and the fact that Leo's character works his way up the ranks, it's completely understandable. Small role, yet managed to really impress me. I just hope he continues to keep up this amazing streak of work and doesn't return to do some awful project, much like Ben Affleck did with 'Runner Runner.' I'll admit, I saw 'Magic Mike' (compliments of my ex-girlfriend. What a time that was...), and I thought he was good in it. I rented 'The Paperboy' once and never got around to watching it, and I haven't seen 'Killer Joe' yet, either.

Yes, (in case it was unclear) I thought Matthew was very good in Magic Mike - I was sorta bored the rest of the time, when he wasn't on.
Mud was indeed a little gem. I didn't know what it was about at all when I started watching, which was a good thing. I like watching movies not knowing much or anything about them - I don't usually read dvd cover descriptions etc. before watching. Me and the friend who came over with the rented dvd both loved it.

Being a fan of Contact, I can't shake a certain feeling from my mind with MM involved. Both Contact and Interstellar are sophisticated science fiction films, brain food more than your typical fantasy.

Maybe so. I recently re-watched Contact - interesting stuff, and a good cast as well. (I like Jodie Foster, John Hurt and James Woods.)
