Yes, I'm surprised no one at Private Eye caught that howler.

They are satirising the recent news article on the government keeping the name secret of a MI5 agent who attacked his girlfriend with a machete

And one very big mistake in the title of the article ! No need to point it out, I can hear the people on this forum screaming bloody murder.

They also got Tracy's last name wrong.

No they didn't : Draco was her maiden name, remember ?

Yes, technically, but she's not referred to by that name in the film, only by di Vicenzo as Manuel the concierge at the hotel Bond is staying at informs him. Bond even refers to her as Contessa Teresa and doesn't even know she's Draco's daughter until Bond meets him.

One I learned yesterday : in one episode of the graphic novel series Ric Hochet, the titular hero, an investigative reporter, while on a trip in Amsterdam, is given "Room 007" in a hotel. His thought bubble reads : "They must think I'm somebody else".

Always wanted to give Ric Hochet a read, but I've yet to find a collection of the stories in either English or Norwegian.

Well, my dad always reckoned the best way to learn a language was to read comics in it :)

I know, and I've considered getting the Tempo releases featuring Ric Hochet, but preferably I'd want a collection with Ric Hochet only. Doesn't matter if it's paperback, hardcover or digital though – anything goes!

Wow The Queens Platinum Jubilee Pageant. the cars look amazing.
  • Yes, loved Clare Balding explaining the submarine aspect of the Lotus Esprit for the uninitiated. The Living Daylights Volante looked great, too.

I never expected Bond 26 to be on its way so soon. Once again, they take it in a new direction. I applaud that.

    Yup, here's a mini screenshot:

Wouldn't it be neat to see one of these in a future Bond film? After all, we haven't had many twin-rotor choppers thus far (maybe just in YOLT?). I trust Bond would need a little more power to bring one of these down though.
    A P99 should do it.

It really would. They've been around for a while now but they still don't quite look real.

    Pro-Prayut James Bond “008” posters
    mocked by opposition

A pro-government Facebook page, Priang News, (เปรี้ยง) which created several James Bond-type 008, No Time to Die posters, in support of Cabinet members during this week’s censure debate, has been mocked by the opposition.

Priang News created posters saying PM Prayut Chan-o-cha will not be “killed” stating the Bond movie No Time to Die and using the hashtag #FightEveryProblem.

Pheu Thai leader, Chonlanan Srikaew, reacted to the posters by commenting, “If they do not die in Parliament (survive the debate), they will die in the election,” while opposition chief whip Sutin Klungsang added the ministers will be “crushed into a pulp.”

The James Bond-type posters seem to be in reaction to a Pheu Thai Party video. The party launched the video on its official Facebook page on Saturday, July 16, to promote the censure debate, saying it was the “Ripping Head and Tear Stages Down Mission.” The party added, “3P and other eight ministers, please be prepared.”
The “3P” the Pheu Thai Party is referring to is PM Prayut, Deputy PM and Palang Pracharath Party Leader, Prawit Wongsuwan, and the Interior Minister, Anupong Paochinda.

Both the video and posters drew mixed reactions from Thai netizens. The government did get some support but others questioned whether those who created the posters had watched No Time to Die because James Bond died.

Today is day one of the four-day censure debate which will end on Friday, July 22. It is targeting PM Prayut and 10 other ministers. During the debate, the opposition party will have 11 hours daily to target the PM and his ministers, while the Cabinet and the ruling coalition party will have two hours daily to reply.

Five ministers are on today’s list but maybe only two will be grilled. They include: the Deputy PM and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchop, the Labour Minister Suchar Chomklin, the Deputy PM and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit, and the Social Development and Human Security Minister Juti Krairerk.

The other politicians on the censure debate list are Deputy Minister of Interior Nipon Bunyamanee, Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, and Deputy Minister of Finance Santi Promphat.

Today media reported that the meeting in Parliament was expected to start at 8am but failed to reach the quorum and they had to wait until 9.24am to begin the discussion. The last day of the censure debate will be dedicated to PM Prayut, Deputy PM Prawit, and Interior Minister Anopong.

Looks like there's also an Osprey helicopter in the Hammerhead comic, about halfway into the story.

OUR BOND IS BETTER THAN YOUR BOND
Meet Stella Strong, the Female James Bond
Who needs James Bond when you have Stella Strong? In this new comic strip by Marisa Acocella, she imagines a brand-new female spy who is not a poor imitation of 007, but her own chic international woman of mystery.
    by Marisa Acocella | 07.20.17

In the long-running saga to cast the next James Bond, there seem to be two camps, those who want to continue with same white straight guys who have played 007 for the past 45 years and those who want a radical departure from the past. Should a woman play pop culture’s most iconic spy, or should a brand new role be fashioned for a woman to be just as suave, smart and bold as Bond has been for 24 films, a character who can inspire her own kickass franchise. W contributor Marisa Acocella falls in the latter camp, and so when we asked her to imagine a spy hero for today, she came up with Stella Strong, chic international woman of mystery. “A woman should play James Bond, but why not change Bond and go beyond,” Acocella says. Taking inspiration from the kitsch and style of Roger Moore’s Bond films, this new comic strip opens as our heroine is vacationing in the Maldives with a super hot boy toy when, suddenly, she gets a distress call…
