FRWL & TMWTGG has a belly dancer

DN & TB does not announce the next film

FRWL & TB features Martine Beswick

FYEO, OP, AVTAK, TLD, LTK (all by John Glenn) contain trademark "animal scare"

TSWLM and MR uses theme music from another popular/iconic film (Lawrence of Arabia and Close Encounters of the third Kind respectively)

The only Japan reference I can think of in DAF is the very first scene in which a hood crashes through a Japanese-style door. If that's what you mean, is there any actual confirmation of the location?
It's set in Tokyo, according to Wikipedia:

I think the 'genuine fear' thing is far too subjective, one could argue the same about several other moments (e.g. being poisoned in CR, where he is also saved by the girl)

    True

I can't believe none of us spotted that before now :-)

    GF - Burt Kwok

TSWLM - A big vehicle 'swallows' smaller craft.

MR : The villain uses a south american animal to dispose of his enemies (piranhas in YOLT, Anaconda in MR)

    Very well seen!
  • Some more. Let's see...

MR- One of the villain's henchmen does a heel-face turn (Kuntze and Jaws) and apparently lives (George Pravda stated his character live. Personally, I take his word. However, I admit it's quite debatable an issue).

Unique connections for ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE and later films in the series...

    TSWLM - George Baker

George Baker has a cameo in You Only Live Twice, so he is actually a connection with the following film, in which he plays Bray.

I said it before in another thread, George Baker would have made an amazing M in the 80s-90s, for Dalton and Brosnan.

I wasn't aware of that cameo, but if he's in three films then it rules out a unique connection. Does anyone have any way to link OHMSS to any later Bond film? The only others I can think of...

LTK - Bond expresses his desire to resign from MI6
CR - Bond tells a woman he loves her
  • I have some reserves about this one, buy what the heck, this is like a game:

TLD: Bond apparently leans on the fourth wall ("this never happened to the other fella" and Dalton glancing at the camera while chatting with Saunders, as if he's looking for our complicity).

That said, these are more serious ones:

    FRWL: Scary ugly female villain
    TMWTGG: Bond meets a midget
    FYEO: Bobsleighs
FYEO: Bond gets help from gangsters
TWINE: The bad guys cause an avalanche
TWINE: "The World Is Not Enough"

Memory lapse time for me, despite having watched OHMSS a couple of weeks ago. When does Lazenby's Bond meet a midget?

He's cleaning Draco's HQ in Lisbon and whistling the Goldfinger song. It would be more accurate to say that he sees a midget. I just thought it was funny to say that he met a midget, but if it doesn't apply, you're the boss @Tokoloshe ;)

SF : Somebody quotes poetry (Tracy in OHMSS, M in SF)
  • This needs more material!

TMWTGG: A main character collects butterflies (M and Scaramanga)
    TWINE: It's Christmas time

OHMSS & FYEO: Does ice skating appear in any other film besides these two?

References to Tracy also occur in TSWLM and LTK.

I'll post an updated list shortly, but let's move on for now with connections between DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER and later films.

OP - Bond at the circus
LTK - Bond drives a vehicle on its side wheels.
DAD - Space-based diamond laser weapon
    SF - Openly homosexual villain(s)

    OP: Gorilla suit

But that's not actual ice skating appearing, just a brief reference to Tilly Masterson supposedly owning a pair of ice skates in her case (lovely shport), turning out to be a sniper rifle.

That wasn't what I was talking about. After the opening credits Felix is looking for Bond in a Miami hotel. As he's looking for them we see a group of ice skaters enjoying themselves in an in-door rink. It might only be for a few seconds but I suppose it counts.

Bond does so in OP aswell. During the car chase in Germany.
