That's as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs!(The Thread of Bad Bond music placement.)

  • The only serious ones IMHO are the slide whistle (i found it actually funny when I was 14 or 15) and the James Bond Theme roaring as Connery is just checking his room for hidden mics on FRWL

I'm glad somebody else mentioned the unnecessary use of the Bond theme in the hotel in FRWL. I'm afraid I must take issue with it. Calvin Dyson did a very humorous spoof of this scene in his FRWL review.

I took a look and, well, ROFLMAO. This Calvin Dyson guy is good, like James Rolfe or Doug Walker but Bond-themed. He just won a new fan here.

Do watch his Diamonds Are Forever review. You will never see Charles Gray in the same light again!

Before this goes off-topic, I have to say that Dyson's voice sounds a bit Jeremy Shada's (Finn the Human from the much celebrated cartoon Adventure Time. Yes, I'm a fan of AT).

And now that i think of it, the random electronic sounds on Dr.No were a bit annoying...

I see why you all hate the slide whistle, but to be fair, it makes me laugh each time.

That was the problem with the films from DAF thru AVTAK. Too many light hearted moments and not enough suspense.

That softcore porno music that plays when Bond is racing Xenia in GE.
I love Ladies First for some reason. I don't know why.

    1. California Girls playing during the AVTAK PTS. (Why John Glen?)
    2. The Slide whistle used during the car flip in TMWTGG. (Way to spoil a good stunt.)
    4. The Banjo cue from Goldfinger. (This one always takes me out of the movie as it is so badly out of place in a Bond movie.)
Those are my least favourites. I'm not keen on the sailors singing Nobody Does It Better at the end of Spy, but I can tolerate it.

I don't remember this one, Murdock. What scene was it again?

It's right after Bond and Anya escape from Jaws and the busted up van flops around then breaks down.

Oh yeah, that's another one I'd add to the list.
  • As a fan of The Clash, the use of 'London Calling' in Die Another Day deeply offends me. Granted, the song has its apocalyptic stanzas befitting the general quality of the film but still uncalled for, Eon.

People say Madonna's song is bad because people like to slag off Madonna...but her song is not that bad when you compare to Another Way to Die and GoldenEye.

That's right. GoldenEye. What kind of chorus is THIS: You never know how I watched you from the shadows as a child with a gun disguised as an umbrella blah blah blah....

Just jam in as much words as you can.
Even Bono can have a bomb every once in awhile.

In The Spy Who Loved Me after Bond and XXX have to ditch the van and walk through the desert to the boat, the tune from Laurence of Arabia plays and I always found it a bit silly.

I don't really mind that to be honest although the gag was repeated in MR with the theme from The Magnificent Seven.

When I watched Moonaker and Spy Who Loved Me, I was too young to get the gag about the music. I thought it was just part of the soundtrack.....

As I said before, the use of other film's music in Bond movies was pioneered by CR '67 : remember the theme from "Born Free" playing in Sir James Bond's estate, or the theme from "What's New Pussycat" playing in Berlin ?

I loved the Magnificent Seven theme in Moonraker. Sure it doesn't fit, but It's a really good version of that theme. Too bad there was never a full version done by John Barry.

I don't like the music being played during the MR boat chase. Totally conflicts with the scene in my view.

I agree, but when I watched it as a child I didn't know it was from Lawrence of Arabia and it did kind of work.

I would also add to the original list the misplaced Bond Themes in From Russia with love and especially the one at the end of OHMSS. I also don't like the music in the ski chase in FYEO and the Credit song from LTK. It does not fit to the gritty film.
