@saunders thanks for all of the wonderful pictures! They're wonderful.

Nice try on the OHMSS re-creation. ;)

Yes the lamp post photo wasn't all I hoped it would be, I think the problem may of been that I asked a couple of Norwegian tourists to take my picture and their English wasn't good enough to be able to tell me that I looked like a prick standing like that! :)

Awesome pics. Great to see some familiar locations. Brings back great memories I have of visiting those places with friends from this forum years ago during Bondcamp 1.0. :)

I hope people from here have still continued to meet in person and do a bit of Bondcamp every now and then.

Some more fantastic pictures there saunders! Thanks for sharing them as they are a real treat for all of us to see!
  • @Saunders Just seen your pictures of Gibraltar from 1 September. I'm from Gib! It's a running joke amongst us Gibraltarians that Bond falls of one side of the Rock and ends up on the other! Hope you enjoyed your visit here :)

Thanks for all your supportive comments chaps, I know some of you probably think I'm a bit of a sad anorak visiting all these locations but I just find it immensely exciting to walk in the celluloid James Bond's footsteps, hopefully I'll be visiting more locations in the near future and will keep you posted.

I really enjoyed Gib, thanks @steven88, my brother in law's family live out there (you might even know them, you all seem to know each other over there!), it's a great place to visit with so much history, though I didn't have enough time to visit all the locations used for TLD, maybe you could share your Gibraltar location info and experiences, it would be very much appreciated.

@saunders I probably do know them we are a pretty small place! Glad you enjoyed the visit. I'd definitely be interested in sharing all the local TLD info I have, I'm quite busy with work at the moment, but when I have a spare moment I think I'll take a day off to go take pictures and share the information I have :)
  • Well, following on from my previous post, I wasn't actually born when the film came out :( (I was a year too late on that front!) However, my dad has quite a few interesting memories:

Turns out he met Timothy Dalton when he worked for immigration at the airport. Says he was quiet, but polite. He also got a card from one of the assistant produces, but can't remember who it was or where it is!

Also, my family saw some of the filming of the scenes up the Rock, as well as the scene where Bond goes flying over the edge with the villain. He also knows the guy who threw a dummy, who is meant to be the villain falling out of the car, out of a helicopter.

Yep, I was born a couple of years too late.

Never been anywhere specifically because of the Bond connection but...

    Royal Ascot
    Played Golf at Stoke poges
Lots of places in London - I cycle past mi6 every day and work right by Leake street tunnels, used in Skyfall as the underground new mi6
    Paris
    The national gallery
    Taj Mahal
    Shanghai
    Probably more...

Just finished reading FYEO. Fleming did his research and knew Northern Vermont. He used to visit his friend Ivar Bryce at Black Hole Hollow Farm (quite the name!) I think in Cambridge, NY.

In the book the action centers around Echo Lake in Vermont, Enosburg Falls and Frelighsburg.

I just got back from a quick jaunt down to Cambridge in New York and got to see the famous farmhouse owned by Ivar Bryce. Ian Fleming would summer there and often found inspiration for his novels, none more so than 'For Your Eyes Only, which is set there.

Later, friend to the Bryces (and the Kennedy's) Solange Batsell Herter owned the house.

It was quite something to see the house and surroundings and soak up the setting that Fleming enjoyed so much. It's down a dirt road and the last house before a dead end. How the hell did Bryce find it?!

AVTAK, San Francisco. Been there, been across the golden gate bridge a few times in my life. Really takes you into the movie you can even imagine Zorin plummeting to his death. Sadly, in reality there are many poor souls who decide to take their own lives by jumping off. They've tried to install a safety net but I guess the city doesn't care and doesn't want to foot the bill (left wing really doesn';t care for human life). But of course, it still looks exactly the same as it appears in A View to a Kill. Underrated film in my opinion. Love to get out there to Crab Key someday.

Off the top of my head, I've been to the Thames, the Eiffel Tower, the Millennium Dome, Buckingham Palace, Venice (and St. Marks Square), Times Square, Vienna, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco, and the north Sardinian Coast, which I believe is driven along by Bond in TSWLM (or is at least visible).

I've also been to Hong Kong, Tokyo and James Bond Island in Thailand.

I wish I could've gone to Piz Gloria or one of the locations featured in FYEO.

oh i am so happy i found this threat, i am a certified bond location junkie :). i am searching specifically for Bond movie locations all around the world for the last 2 years . I have been in London, Bilbao, Rome, Hamburg (my current home), Berlin, Vienna. This year i am planning Paris, Istanbul, Amsterdam... we'll see how much i can manage. Also i was in Panama city 2 years ago and i had no idea that Quantum of Solace was shot there, so i walked down some of the sets without even knowing it, and i took a picture of Greenes Party location totally by accident, i only found out half a year later it was used for the Party scene... crazy coincidence. can i upload pictures here?

Nothing special. Paris and NYC. I stood in the exact spot Roger Moore stood 30 years before at the Eiffel Tower.

TB - Well I've driven round Silverstone and been in Paris streets with a view of the Eiffel Tower but grasping at straws.
YOLT - Been to Hong Kong but as that's a studio can't count it.
OHMSS - Driven through the Swiss Alps but can't count that.
DAF - Amsterdam canals and the skinny bridge, flown to LAX numerous times, stayed at the Tropicana (most comfortable), been to Circus Circus (tacky).
LALD - Bourbon St, NYC, the Bayou.
TMWTGG - James Bond island, Peninsula hotel, hydrofoil between Macau and Hong Kong, Bangkok canals.
TSWLM - None. Well I've swam in the Med like Jaws at the end.
MR - LAX again, Venice, Tikal.
FYEO - Beckton, Cortina ski jump.
OP - Been past Sotheby's where Smithers parked, Taj Mahal (my sister stayed at the floating palace hotel on her honeymoon - bitch!), Checkpoint Charlie.
AVTAK - Ascot, Eiffel Tower, Seine embankment and bridges, City Hall, Fishermans Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge.
TLD - Rock of Gibraltar, Bratislava (even though they don't film there), Vienna, Tangier.

TND - Oxford, Hamburg, live about 10 mins walk from Harmsworth Quays printers (where they filmed the warehouse scenes although ever been inside), Bangkok, Phang Nga Bay.
TWINE - Millenium Dome (and pretty sure my flat is in the background of the Thames chase), been past Maiden's Tower in a boat.
DAD - Hong Kong, Havana (although they didn't film there), Westminster bridge, Iceland.
CR - Various shooting locations in Karlovy Vary, Lake Como, Venice.
QOS - Floored it back and forth through the Malcesine tunnel for about half an hour, Siena, Barbican.
SF - Istanbul, Vauxhall bridge, Whitehall, Embankment station, Bond's lockup for the DB5 is about 15 mins walk from my flat, Glencoe and the Highlands.

@00Agent , I don't know if you listen to the James Bond Radio podcast, or watch their Youtube channel, but those guys are really into that, as well. They also ask for listener/viewer stories and photos. You may want to connect with them They also have a Facebook page.

Thanks for the tip, i will! i watched one or two of their podcasts before but didn't know about this

I guess the most iconic place I've been is the Piz Gloria, in fact I have been there several times, but then I'm Swiss...

I've been to Iceland, Montenegro, Lake Como, Venice, Rome, Siena, Paris and the Eiffel Tower and so many Bond locations more.

If there was a location that I really would like to see it's Macau.

Been all over Pinewood Studios in 1991 at the James Bond convention! Including the 007 stage and the gardens where Grant stalks the fake Bond in FRWL.

As an added bonus was also allowed on the Batman set from the 1989 film which was still standing!

    DAF - Amsterdam
    OP - Berlin
    AVTAK - Paris
    TLD - Vienna, Austrian/Slovak borderland
GE - St Petersburg. Am I the only from MI6 Community having walked there?
    CR - Prague.

Sadly, I haven't visited Britain yet, as well as Bond hasn't visited Lithuania.

Current tensions with Russia in Eastern Europe would provide a great plot for a Bond film.

I'm afraid not, I had no Willy Bogner to back me up.
