Oh I forgot I've been to Vegas. I remember landing in Vegas at midnight to 90 degree temps.

I've flown in UK airspace. Don't know whether that counts or not.

Only if you jumped out of the airplane with a Union Jack parashute like Gustaf Graves ;-)

Since my last post in this thread (page 1) I've been to Udaipur. Not on the floating palace (that was a bit too expensive) but on a boat tour around it and the 'other' island, where Bond disembarks. The monsoon palace was a bit too far away.

    Also finally visited Vienna.

And long before I've been to lake Como, but Bond hadn't been there yet so I'm not sure it counts.

The ones mentioned before: Vegas, Amsterdam, Bregenz,

and also have been to Key West/Hemmingway House, London Vauxhall cross, Collage of Arms, Paris (Eiffel Tower). I think that's it.

Oh, been to Rome several times as well, but again, before the film was made. @GoldenGun that's pretty cool! Did he drink as much as Bond?

@CommanderRoss He was Australian and had worked on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace too. Said that all Bond actors were pleasant people (although I don't think he ever met Lazenby).
I don't remember how much we drank but it was definitely enough, I had to help my Scottish friend to get home :)), luckily we were roommates.
Nevertheless I remember that he told me how silly he thought Belgium was (he worked on In Bruges as well), but I was "a good bloke" :))

Poor me. Only been to a few locations. Most of them are from DAF: Circus Circus, LAX, McCarron Airport. Plus Downtown Nassau (TB) and the Fountain Bleu (GF).

This October, I plan to stop in Palm Springs to get a look at the Elrod House.

Any trip is good :) ...I so need a vacation right now.

And that's pretty cool @GoldenGun ...in October I'll be closer to Belgium than I am now but I've never had the chance yet to visit.

    Hey where's @BondJasonBond006? Hasn't posted in awhile.

My brother visited Piz Gloria. He said to me, I was at this restaurant. I think it was in a Bond movie.
I said to him, you were at Piz Gloria for crying out frigging loud. Only , arguably the most famous of all standing Bond locales. Arghhh.
Wiz I'm sure will fully appreciate the experience.
    Must get there myself someday.

Went to London and visited the Bond in Motion exhibition. It was a wonderful experience and made me realize that even though I have my favourites I truly like all Bond films. For those of you who still have to go I would strongly advise you to do so.

For completist's sake here are the vehicles featured:

GF: Rolls-Royce Phantom III, Aston Martin DB5
    TB: scubagear
    YOLT: Little Nellie
    OHMSS: Mercury Cougar
DAF: Bath-O-Sub, Mustang Mach 1, Honda motorcycle
    LALD: speedboat
    TMWTGG: AMC Hornet
    TSWLM: Lotus Esprit Sub
    FYEO: Citroën 2CV
    OP: Acrostar Mini Jet
    AVTAK: Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 2
    TLD: Aston Martin V8 Vantage
    TND: BMW 750iL, BMW motorcycle
TWINE: BMW Z8 Roadster, Q Boat
DAD: Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, Jaguar XKR
    CR: Aston Martin DBS
    QOS: Aston Martin DBS
    SF: Land Rover Defender
SP: Aston Martin DB10, Jaguar C-X75

I might have missed some motorcycles here there. There were also smaller models from vehicles such as the Neptune sub from FYEO or the Lamborghini Diablo from DAD and some storyboards and miscellaneous items.

Two non-EON things I noticed as well; a storyboard from Never Say Never Again and a miniature car from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

You are also welcomed at the entrance by a wax statue from Sir Sean.

    Highly recommended.
  • TND - Oxford, Hamburg, live about 10 mins walk from Harmsworth Quays printers (where they filmed the warehouse scenes although ever been inside), Bangkok, Phang Nga Bay.

Wait a second, the printers where they filmed were called Harmsworth? And Elliot Carver was originally named Harmsway? Coincidence?

    DN - Just London.
FRWL - Sirkeci station, the cistern, Hagia Sofia, Venice canals.
    GF - London again.
TB - Well I've driven round Silverstone and been in Paris streets with a view of the Eiffel Tower but grasping at straws.
YOLT - Been to Hong Kong but as that's a studio can't count it.
OHMSS - Driven through the Swiss Alps but can't count that.
DAF - Amsterdam canals and the skinny bridge, flown to LAX numerous times, stayed at the Tropicana (most comfortable), been to Circus Circus (tacky).
LALD - Bourbon St, NYC, the Bayou.
TMWTGG - James Bond island, Peninsula hotel, hydrofoil between Macau and Hong Kong, Bangkok canals.
TSWLM - None. Well I've swam in the Med like Jaws at the end.
MR - LAX again, Venice, Tikal.
FYEO - Beckton, Cortina ski jump.
OP - Been past Sotheby's where Smithers parked, Taj Mahal (my sister stayed at the floating palace hotel on her honeymoon - bitch!), Checkpoint Charlie.
AVTAK - Ascot, Eiffel Tower, Seine embankment and bridges, City Hall, Fishermans Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge.
TLD - Rock of Gibraltar, Bratislava (even though they don't film there), Vienna, Tangier.
LTK - Key West and Hemingway House.
GE - Verzasca Dam (have done the jump), Monte Carlo casino, Hermitage and Palace Square.
TND - Oxford, Hamburg, live about 10 mins walk from Harmsworth Quays printers (where they filmed the warehouse scenes although ever been inside), Bangkok, Phang Nga Bay.
TWINE - Millenium Dome (and pretty sure my flat is in the background of the Thames chase), been past Maiden's Tower in a boat.
DAD - Hong Kong, Havana (although they didn't film there), Westminster bridge, Iceland.
CR - Various shooting locations in Karlovy Vary, Lake Como, Venice.
QOS - Floored it back and forth through the Malcesine tunnel for about half an hour, Siena, Barbican.
SF - Istanbul, Vauxhall bridge, Whitehall, Embankment station, Bond's lockup for the DB5 is about 15 mins walk from my flat, Glencoe and the Highlands.
SP - Museo Della Civilta Romana, Tiber embankment, Vatican, Ice Q restaurant, Soelden Bergbahn, Tangier, City Hall, Vauxhall, Embankment (while they were filming the finale).

Holy, you've travelled quite a bit!

Alfred Harmsworth was the founder of the Daily Mirror and the Daily Fail... ahem... Daily Mail and I suspect there is a family connection to the printers. This may have been the original idea behind TND's media mogul villain being called Harmsway - it would be interesting to know why they changed.

Well, I have been to Piz Gloria(it is actually called that) many years ago.

I have also been to the beach and falls in Ochoa Rios, where Dr.No was filmed.

Piz Gloria is only the name of the restaurant, the mountain is called Schilthorn.

@Roadphill, me too. Great experience. Must be the one place on earth where George is the most prominent Bond face.

Hope you enjoyed it as well.

...though when I visited, in 2008, the cable car kiosk was selling pin badges with what appeared to be a crudely drawn Pierce Brosnan.

(It gets worse: I tried to buy one on my return journey and they had SOLD OUT!)

I was there in 2015 and it had pictures of George all over the place. He even got a few statues outside the restaurant.

@GoldenGun I certainly did. It was a few years ago now but it was nice to see how proud they are of the Bond lineage
  • The dives in the Bahamas are nice. I did a night dive on the Vulcan frame which has over the years become a man-made reef. Another Dive from the movie TB is at a place called the Fish Bowl, which is the giant Elk Horn Coral where Bond first meets Domino skin diving. It’s a shallow SCUBA or an easy Skin Dive, around twenty feet or so, and the sea life there is spectacular. In the movie CR the place where Bond has his encounter with Solange and Alex Dimitrios gambling, was once a moderately priced hotel on my first visit that was later partially destroyed in a Hurricane. Now rebuilt and offered as Luxury Suits and Villas it is still a very pleasant place to stay, right on the beach. Back before it was severely damaged it was a great place to stay while diving at Stuart’s Cove, which was just walking distance from your room. It’s still nice today but not so moderately priced. Anyone diving with Stuart’s Cove should try to meet Stuart and his wife who own the dive shop on that side of the island. They have some great stories to tell about working on the Bond films and when I was there were very friendly and sat down to lunch and talk with my small group.

When I was at school, a friend showed me a postcard she'd received of Thailand's James Bond Island (from TMWTGG). I decided then and there that when I was an independent adult who could drive, I would do some Bond tourism of my own.

Most of my holidays over the last ten years have been motorcycle trips in Europe, and I’ve managed to take in a number of Bond locations - some on purpose, some by accident. (For instance, I’ve done the Furka Pass without thinking of Goldfinger, because if you’re motorcycling in Switzerland you must and shall do the Furka Pass.)

I finally got to visit Piz Gloria in 2008, about a decade after I learned that it was really a place and one could really go there. Suffice to say I was really excited. I wish I had bought more stuff and taken more photos, but I do have the happy memory of drinking a latte in the restaurant - plus a 007 shot glass, which I use often (because it’s bigger than standard).

On the same trip we rode into Italy, including the region around Lakes Garda and Como. This part of the country has a lot of long, dark road tunnels, one of which in particular I found quite scary to navigate and was glad to be out of. A few months later, QOS came out. Lo and behold, right in the opening scene, the very tunnel that had scared the heck out of me!

Czech Republic, 2014: visit Karlovy Vary, fail completely to work out which buildings appeared in Casino Royale (this was before I had a smartphone on which to summon such things). (Also visited and also a CR location, though I only found out when I looked it up just now: Loket.)

A confession: on the same trip I got super excited about going to Bratislava because of the TLD connection, even though I knew full well that no filming actually took place there. As in singing the theme song all the way down the motorway excited, although to be fair I do that quite often anyway.

Incidentally, Bratislava should be a Bond location! It’s got a revolving restaurant and everything!

And one from the novels, fairly close to home for me: the Sir Thomas Wyatt pub, near Maidstone in Kent, where Drax stops off in MR. It's now a Beefeater and I would not recommend going out of your way for it.

This summer’s trip is to the Pyrenees. Wish me luck persuading my travelling companions that they want to visit the airfield from TND...
  • @ Agent_ 99 The Furka Pass, in Switzerland, is one of the best drives I’ve ever been on. I had the pleasure of driving it in a Targa once, but I’d love to take that road on a GS 1200 some time.

@Legionnaire It was a wonderful ride! Though I found it a little scary that some small white bollards were the only thing to stop you plummeting over the edge...
