Can quote ALL it's dialogue.
1995. Very upsetting. Put me off my food for ages.
And that was just watching GE.
The vomit bit I am just guessing about.
TND was only like being made to eat your own vomit by comparison.
And DAD was obviously like being made to eat someone else's vomit after that person had themselves been made to eat someone else's vomit.
Oh dear. This is all getting very human centipede.
Apologies for lowering the tone and then some.
I guess you understand why I don't tend to rewatch the Brosnan movies any way.
I thought I was fairly close to the mark on this one. Just guessing of course.
Totally agree,i honestly don't see the problem with him,i would watch a Brosnan Bond film over TLD and a nervous Dalton anyday of the week, and yes i include DAD - at least it's fun and has some excitement in it !!
No,once again that's TLD....GE is 100% better than that film !
Once again, sadly, I am only guessing.
Everyone knows TLD is way better than GE. The presence of Dalton and John Barry - literally on screen - guaranteed a superior movie.
It's boring and ,apart from the PTS not a lot happens...the Bond girl is thick as shit and one of most annoying ,Dalton is nervous, boring villains....
The PTS,the interrogation, and the score are the only things that are worth catching in this drab fest...i can never watch it when they reach Afghanistan, the acting is awful and its just plain boring...Necros was wasted.
Great Felix though ;)
But how can you ignore the whole opening act in the Eastern block - it's brilliantly done and one of the best Cold War espionage sequences in the whole series.
And a wonderful wonderful score. For me Bond is always in large part about the music and TLD is one of Barry's very best. The safe house, Vienna and assassination scenes are all very good.
I personally think the relationship between the two leads is one of the most convincing in Bond girl history.
Necros is brilliant as is all the action. Cargo net sequence anyone?
I'll grant you that Felix is a tad weak, and last time I watched it I did tune out briefly during the love in with the Mujahadeen, but... It's still eminently more watchable than GE.
Dalton is not my favourite Bond but he's definitley the most underrated amongst the wider public. Miles better than Brozza IMO.
Dalton has some awkward moments but overall I prefer his performance here to his "thesp acting edgy" performance in LTK.
I personally think the relationship between the two leads is one of the most convincing in Bond girl history
It's ok but not a patch on Laz/Rigg or Craig/Eva Green. As I said, a bit too soppily played on occasions.
There is nothing to appreciate about Skyfall except for cinematography.
And isn't it THE irony that GE has overtaken the Skyfall thread.
With hyperbole like that it doesn't sound like your being soft on Brosnan or GE at all. ;)
Not sure which I prefer. Probably still TLD becuase of some many classic scenes.
I'd still say TLD as it feels less generic.
I used to prefer Kill but now I keep thinking that the main story is poorly setup.
LTK is waaaaaay better, with a top villain in Sanchez, and henchmen(Dario,Milton Krest,Trueman-Lodge and Heller) and Carey Lowell..oh and the best Leiter back,Sharkey and Prof Joe.
And good old Q out on the field to boot.
Also the 'loyalty is more important to me than money'ethics and the way Bond frames people...exciting stufff..EXCITING !!
I know there are exceptions to this and some older fans like his films but as I said before, I was dissing Brosnan when some you were likely still in short trousers when most thought he was the second coming.
I think Brosnan is an aproximation of what the general public see's Bond as, Bond produced in a factory.
I actually think GE is the most radically different Bond of his era as much as I dislike it it's likely the only one I'd rewatch again.
The idea of watching TND, TWINE and especially DAD fills me with dread and they are likely to stay sat in my Bond 50 box and never come out.
A cheesy "tough chick".
I love Skyfall. It always reminds me that there are 24 better Bond films, it's almost heartwarming.
I did. Probably why i'm a big GoldenEye fan.
I can see its flaws more clearly now but both he and that film made me a fan...and yes I do remember him being very popular at the time. I loved him too.
A fair point but i was born in 1970,between Lazenby and Connery and i like his films compared to TLD....which i find a snoozefest, trying too hard to pull away from Moore too soon.
Brosnan is great. I feel sorry for people who can't see it. Must be sad to dislike a whole era, and such a successful one, must hurt I guess.
Brosnan's films haven't really aged very well though - and that does include GE to an extent. I say that as someone who grew up during his era and loved it.
Great trailer but Broz looks better in the film I think.
Not in the slightest.
Indeed. I've just had a NicNac go off on one saying I 'derailed' a thread for mentioning Niki Van Der Zyl once yet here we have a page of comments here without a mention of the topic of the thread? Anyway I'm sure he'll soon be here to tell you all off for such flagrant 'derailing' otherwise he might leave himself open to accusations of hypocrisy mightn't he?
Hopefully one of the mods will take out all the GE,Brosnan comments and move them to the other thread so this one will be back on track soon.
To be clear to @Getafix, I wasn't attacking you mate, or calling what you were saying bashing. I don't have a strong affection for Brosnan either, and don't view criticism of him as bashing. Calling it bashing is just rather whiny to me, and the people who sometimes complain about poor Brosnan getting stoned in threads here are themselves just as negative-if not more-about other areas of Bond. So I stand with you here, @Getafix.
I was just pointing out in the above post that the negativity that some view as being leveled against Brosnan is now almost drowned out by the anger many feel at EON, Mendes, etc.
So many threads now, like this one, are mewling quarters for the rather misplaced anger and frustration of members to come out in surprising ways, and not so surprising ones. I won't be part of it, though I would suggest getting back on topic to what this thread is actually meant for, a pro-Skyfall zone. Skyfall dissenters can pack their bags and head on out with the so-called "Brosnan bashers" (still don't get it).
