Sean Connery as Macbeth

I just saw this in class today while we were watching another video, but Sir Sean played the title role in the Scottish play in a BBC production the year before Dr. No was released. Check it out (I think you can watch some more of the play on youtube as well by searching 'Sean Connery Macbeth'):

    Interesting footage!

Funnily, at 1:16 I thought for a moment he was going to say, "Alright, Tanya, I´ll marry ya. But ya have to give me the Lektor!";-)

I misread the title of this thread as "Sean Connery Vs Macbeth", surely a missed oppurtunity for a clash of the titans?

Going to watch this clip when I get home. Going to see King Lear in less than a week, that is very fitting.

By the way, shouldn't you write The Scottish Play in the thread title?

The woman in particular is very good.

God Sean just can't shake that Scottish accent can he.

Well, he's playing the character of Macbeth. Maybe just Mackers? I don't know.

@BAIN123: We were actually watching the woman (Zoe Caldwell) in Euripedes' Medea and that was one of the suggested videos. She is indeed very good. Regarding Sir Sean, he's playing a Scottish character here, so it's not that bad.

Maybe it is the superstitious actor in me, but I thought the title could have been Sean Connery in The Scottish Play;-)

D'oh, I forgot Macbeth was Scottish :p Last time I read the play was well over 10 years ago at school.

Ok that makes sense. I've just shown up my ignorance regarding Shakespeare.

Still...I think the lady is the stand-out of the two.

He won an Oscar with it for portraying an Irish cop in The Untouchables, so why should he change it ;-P ?

Now that sounds like Scottish porn.

I myself have always seen Macduff as a Bondian figure in the play (I'm probably alone in this view) - he killed Macbeth after all. That's certainly how I saw him when I read the play at school and I did play Macduff in the school reading of the play! I doubt that I would have done my namesake David Dragonpol proud had he been listening though... :-@

    Not to an actor.

What a surprise he does it in a Scottish accent. Nothing ever changes!

Well, at least that time a Scottish accent is appropriate! A New York cop? Not so much.

It was an Irish American Chicago cop.
