A letter from Roger Moore...

edited August 2014 in Actors Posts: 654
In October 2013 I wrote a fan letter to Sir Roger, wondering how he was, and asked for his autograph. I sent him the letter and then I waited. After two months I lost all hope about him reading my letter and about him sending me a signed picture... I stopped thinking about it and moved on to other Bond-projects. Three months later my girlfriend left me and I went into a small depression. I was in the need of something that could cheer me up. That´s when my mother called me and told me that there was a letter for me from England! I hurried home and opened it. It was from Sir Roger Moore, replying to me in a letter wich he had signed himself. That made me quiet happy as you can imagine. ;) My question is, am I the only one who actually got a reply that was signed by him, or does he do this with every fanletter he get´s?

There´s a pic of the letter at the top of my blog:

Congratulations on your reply. That must be the centre piece of your collection now, surely?

Yes it is, along with the complete collection of the Gilbert Figures. I actually kind of wish that he would have sent a picture along with the letter tho...

    Excellent!
Even Sir Roger signs the letters that are typed for him, and even if he says similar to others, it does not matter - because the effort was made to reply to you and if it is an original signature, then that would put me over the moon. So just enjoy it, @fromswedenwithlove. I think it's really great. :-bd

I think he does offer signed photos on his website; the proceeds go to UNICEF, if I remember rightly. He may prefer to do that, for that cause. I cannot find the info on his website now, but I read that a few years ago.

Might have something to do with the restraining order Draggers. ;-)

Sir Roger is such a class guy. They don't make 'em like him nowadays.

Yes, the threat of a court injunction scared me away. :D

You know, I love Roger. And I have enjoyed his work for years. I cannot believe I have not tried to write to him before. Well, I shall rectify that this weekend. Why not? Let's make this a Write To Roger Week! He's a gentleman, and I do want to let him hear appreciation from me, too. And he won't be around forever. Glad to see he is still doing fine, though.

You have inspired us, fromswedenwithlove - thanks!

Any chances for a Connery, Lazenby, Dalton, Brosnan or Craig address??

Well I wrote to Daniel Craig and got an autograph back - but only a printed one.

    The address was:

    Daniel Craig

The letters to Roger, Sean, George and Timmy came back - wrong address. My letter to Pierce didn't come back yet. So there are hopes that it comes back some day. :)

I can only endorse what has been said here already. Though I will add Mr Moore writes a great email too (!).

Connery (he doesn't sign fanmail and back in the 60s his brother sgd his mail)

Dalton (prolly only gonna get pre-print , also he hates signing 007 stuff now , even on the street)

Brosnan (prolly also waste of time)

Lazenby (he charges so him sending freebie is very very slim)

Moore (he used to sign thru mail but has pretty much stopped now)

Interesting list there, @Tracy but what of Craig? The only one I ever got an autograph from was Roger Moore back in 2002. I believe he stopped signing a number of years ago as people were selling the autographed photos on ebay etc. A pity that people would do that and ruin things for genuine fans.
