I mention it because Watchmen the graphic novel(my "Bible")is the reason I hated Malin in it. And it has everything to do with the movie. Except for a few major and minor changes they are one in the same. You will judge heavily on the film's acting choices if you read the graphic novel. You may still not though, as you may not be a humungous fanboy like I am. Rorschach is without a doubt one of the greatest comics characters ever, top 10. Jackie Earle Haley was great in the role. Anyway, to answer your other question, I have MR and all the other Fleming Bond novels except GF, and the FYEO and OP/TLD short story collections. I will tear through them once my school and personal reading(finishing up The Best of Sherlock Holmes now) is finished. I am hyped big time. I read CR before school began and can't wait to continue the novels. I've always wanted to read them and hold them but never got the chance until I went to a Pittsburgh Barnes and Noble this past summer. I hope to start a discussion thread when I finish them, If no one does till then.

The train scene and shower scene with Vesper in CR are the nadir of the franchise, IMO. Hated both scenes.

DC007 - I'm surprised that you found those two scenes the nadir of the series. Can you elaborate on why those two scenes in particular were the worst ones out of the whole almost 50 year history of Bond films? What is different about those two scenes that made them so mind-bogglingly awful?

To put it in context, what do you think were the third, fourth, and fifth worst scenes of the franchise?

Well, first off I can tell you you're going to enjoy reading them. Last I read was TMWTGG, just a couple of days ago. When it comes to writing, Fleming is in a legue of his own. However, the films and books often defer like day and night.

We've got the Watchmen book, my GF is a fan, so I'll look in to it. But no, I don't think it will irritate me. I loved the ' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' film, even though it's very different from the TV-series and books, but close enough to recognise the story.

Still, even Malin's interpretation might be off the mark, it doesn't say much about the role she would be playing in a Bond-film.

That's why I'm so excited to read the Fleming Bond novels. The book/movie plots differ so much I get twice the thrill and joy. And nobody will ever tell a spy story better than Fleming.

Christina Hendricks is gorgeous and I'd love to see her as a Bond girl.

Olivia Wilde is also stunning and she's great on House, but I'm not sure if she'd fit in a Bond film... I don't know, it just doesn't feel quite right... I have to see Cowboys & Aliens though, see how she is on screen with Craig, and I'll get back to you.

Summer Glau would be great I think. Very beautiful, good actress (I loved her as River in Firefly/Serenity) and she would look nice next to Craig. Plus, she's good with guns (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).

Megan Dodds is also a good suggestion. I've seen her in an episode of Lie To Me and a couple of years ago in the season 6 premiere of House. I was shocked when I saw in a previous post that she's 41 years old! She looks much younger.

I saw Captain America last night and I was very impressed by Hayley Atwell. She fits the Bond girl profile I think: British, very beautiful, elegant and a good actress.

So long as there's a level of chemistry between the actor/actress in question then that's one large piece of what people should hope for. Being attractive is always an advantage, but I don't see a need to have obligatory nice looking women in 007 movies, so long as they can actually act, get the film moving along at a nice pace and have some degree of intelligence if you will, you can usually expect an entertaining picture.

Worst example of this could be Roberts in AVTAK, all very well being a nice looking girl, but when all other things add up to a few screams, wooden acting and just filling in the background you're not left with much of a feature

A fine example would be Rigg from On Her Majestys Secret Service, not only a fine looking woman, but intelligent, sophisticated and brought some personality to the screen.

All I ask for is that they side with the latter in the next installment, they don't have to be centerfold models, just someone with charisma and and what could be described as a 'thinking man's woman'

@Baltimore_007 Yes, I think that's the most important thing, and one of the reasons why I find so few Bondgirls attractive.

Sienna Miller would work, in that respect. Her and Craig work very well onscreen, I think. Or Rachel Weisz, something I.ve been hoping for far longer then their relationship.

I don't know of any other work they have done together really.

That's a choice I could agree with. I've seen her in The Rite, I Am Legend and bits of Predators. I do find her attractive and I didn't have any problems with her acting, in the films i've seen her in.

In your opinion that may ne the case. To me and many others she's a talented enough actress and for a 47 year old she's more stunning than the majority of the so called leading ladies of hollywood. If I had a choice to pick her or let's say Colbie Smulders who isn't even hot but pretty at best; Smulders gets denied each and every time.

You shadow, put forward Smulders, who by and large isn't exactly a great actress and is merely pretty enough to look at, the reason I'm sure you even suggested her in the first place.

No, I suggested Smulders because Robin Scherbatsky - her character in "How I Met Your Mother" - is the epitome of awesomeness. She's also been cast in Joss Whedon's THE AVENGERS, and Whedon is a man who knows comic book lore better than anyone, so he's evidently seen something in her.
