One come easily to my mind: Star Trek: Generations. I was a fan of TNG, borderline trekkie, I had loved, loved, loved the series, which I had discovered late (a year or so before the movie's release). I rank it far higher than any scifi franchise. I was very excited about the team coming on the big screen at last... I left sorely disappointed and I slowly stopped caring about Star Trek.

Walking out after Highlander was one of the highpoints in theatre-going for me. I was so elated. Walking out after Highlander 2 was about the lowest. I was almost in tears, but I was just a bit too angry to cry...

I love to this day the Lord of the Rings trilogy, all three films. Just great storytelling, superbly filmed, all around sublime. I didn't leave the theater hyper pumped, but I was thoroughly mesmerized (and became a huge Viggo Mortensen fan). I'm adding the final one to my list.

I also really loved the Harry Potter films, but it was more fun than total immersion for me, compared to Lord of the Rings. Great films, and I was happy with all of the cast. Read all the books., too. And - joy of joys for me! - Harry Potter World is opening this July here, in Osaka (part of Universal Studios Japan). I am going in the fall; I can't wait! It will such great fun, and I am longing to finally drink butterbeer. >:D<

I would add SF to this disappointment list, too. I guess I let the hype get to me and it just built up over four years, and it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be. That, or the three mojitos I drank pre-showing seriously altered my first time experience with it. Oh well, live and learn.

Seriously, Creasy47? Well, that is a shame.
I loved Skyfall, and I still do, it holds up amazingly well and is a Bond film with depth, great action scenes, and a superb cast all around. I definitely left the theater on a high.
Regarding spoilers: I avoided spoilers well, and that helped a good deal, I think. At least for me. Everything was fresh when I saw it. I may stick around for a few spoilers this time but I really don't want to know much about Bond 24 before seeing it.

And mojitos after a film may be best. Cheers! ~O)

I think I attribute it to many things: the flood of spoilers I read, watching all of the trailers and teasers way too many times, thinking it would be perfection after waiting four years, and all the alcohol I had before the showing. I most certainly didn't leave the theater feeling how I did when I first saw CR and QoS, that's for sure. Then my girlfriend was asking me what I thought and how much I loved it, so I had to feign crazed excitement because I knew I should be, but I wasn't as satisfied as I thought I would be. Having said that, I'm tackling it differently this time around: I'm avoiding most threads and all Bond-related comment sections on here and throughout the Internet, I'm going to try as hard as I can not to watch any footage (finally seeing it opening day without a clue as to what it'll look like should be something, but I don't think I have this type of restraint), and I'm going to have low expectations in general. I'll be pumped, but not having an idea of what to expect will help. Also, alcohol after the showing, not before. ;-)

The only footage I saw were the trailers (I remember fearing they would give away too much, but they didn't really), avoided all clapperboards, and I had to leave the forum in early October. :( But I had a very fresh and exciting first viewing of Skyfall and it was worth it. I really hope they do not give out clapperboard shots again.

Well I'm glad you got to enjoy it! They showed way too much, then of course we had trailer analysts here, and I eagerly read along with those, so it gave away certain scenes, leading me to guess a few things that ended up being correct, such as Severine's death during that whiskey-shot scene. I just think of how absolutely hyped I get with Bond movies, and I wonder what it would be like to go in having no idea what to expect in terms of any of it. Cast, title, singer, plot, and that's it. Imagine having no clue at all what the PTS is, or where the finale takes place. It'll be hard, but I'd love to try and do it.

Oh, it's delicious. A little bit like cream of soda, but more sickly sweet.

Add Skyfall to my disappointment list, too. Unfortunately, it just wasn't as good as I had expected from reviews etc etc., and it certainly wasn't the "best Bond ever!", although this can be attributed to every review of a Bond film around release time...

And if I go in November, it will be colder so maybe I can have hot butterbeer! Yeah!

For me, Skyfall will probably stay in my top ten. :D

I may try to stay on the forum a bit longer this time, but I'll have to be careful.
I can be patient. For example, I read all 7 Harry Potter books and did not sneak a peak at the ending on that huge final book; I read them all unspoiled ... and it was really great that way. Other books, I do flip to the back at times. For Bond, I want it to be a mostly fresh experience, yes. But talking about it is so fun, even beforehand; it is a tricky balance!

I stayed on the forum up until the very end. I think I only returned a few times after it was released in the UK, but I'm leaving a lot earlier this time, I'm sure.

When i walked out of Skyfall, i felt dazed i said to one of my mates, this is either the best Bond film or the worst. Once i had taken in what i had watched, the latter is how i feel about Skyfall unfortunately. Still think the first hundred minutes is ok, after that i usually switch the film off.

I was pleased from the start with Skyfall, I think, but I really ruined it for myself. This was the first Bond film I really paid attention to the production of because after I joined here in 2011 rumors slowly started creeping in about the film, and I got sucked in. I saw the clapperboards, photos of a burned Skyfall, pictures of Severine tied up and bloody and more, which I really wish I could un-see. I didn't ruin all the surprises for myself, sure, but biggies for me were Severine's death and the meaning of Skyfall, which I hated myself for spoiling, though sometimes I didn't even intend to see some of the stuff I did. I still wonder how much more I would have enjoyed the film if I hadn't gotten it spoiled. This time will be VERY different come Bond 24, however.

I love to know a little, but one quick glance at a headline on a thread can ruin things even. Fortunately for me, I did not know about Severine's death, the meaning of Skyfall, Eve as Moneypenny, none of that.

It is hard not to read something accidentally; that is what is so difficult. At least here, I don't have the constant advertising chat and pictures about Bond; my spoilers are mostly limited to the internet sites I visit. That helps obviously.

I'm sure I spoiled something here and there for actually looking - there's nobody to blame but me for that - but being on completely unrelated threads where some asshat says "Oh, M dies at the end," and then acts like it's a common fact because he/she found it out? Please. That really pissed me off the day that it happened. I'm completely disconnecting myself from B24 when filming starts.

Well I only disconnected myself from the forum about 2 months prior to the release of Skyfall in the theaters here. It will be a tough call. Idiots do come in and post major spoilers; I was probably very lucky last time around.

I didn't know that happened on here, about M's death. That is so stupid. Did that happen for anything else major?

I'll be taking a lot of steps to avoid such happenings again. Celebrating with you all is a momentary enjoyment that can leave good memories, but a film is permanent, and if I think that taking all attempts to avoid all spoilers and trying to avoid all footage will help, then I'm going to try it. If I do stick around, I'll tread very lightly and probably only engage in the off-topic threads, such as video games, elimination threads, etc.

It won't be easy as I think some actual thread titles could be spoilers. Ah well; you and I will be tiptoeing around next year at this time. X_X

When I watched Skyfall I had gone through a couple of years of fading Bond craze. I was preoccupied with other interests basically. So I knew nothing about the production before I suddenly realized a new Bond film was about to premiere. The enthusiasm of that realization and the rave reveiws that was pouring in, enlightened my interest again of course, but when I watched the movie... Damn! I don't think any other cinematic experience has left me so elated and hungry for more, and I came out of the theater a reborn Bond fanatic. I instantly started rereading all the novels and following all the news about the next film, and for me it was the best Bond flick to date. My evaluation has dropped slightly since then and I now consider Casino to be Craigs best, but it still holds a secure spot in my top 5. I would definetely not be chatting with you guys now if it wasn't for that film. Thank you Skyfall!

We could speak to the mods about some rules come Bond 24's filming, where they could urge the community to never spoil anything in the thread titles or ruin parts of the film in un-realted threads. How well people would listen, however, is another story entirely.

Maybe ... okay this won't fly, but still. ... closer to the release of Bond 24 the mods put a short delay for thread titles (must be reviewed by a mod first). Not practical, I guess, but we do have mods around the world maybe almost around the clock online. I'd like that to happen, though.

Will do the same nearer the time of Bond 24 release, I listen to alot of podcasts that are movie related, with films that i have not seen Captain America winter soldier for example, soon as i see a thread related to it i avert my eyes and avoid related podcasts like the plague, alas i have been watching Agents of Shield and that probably spoilt some of the movie gr!

I had low expectations and was still disappointed.
Add DAD to that also, except there I had SUPER-HIGH expectations.
    Oh well...

I doubt the mods will have much control over spoilers, as the damage will be already done once it happens. It only takes a few seconds for a certain spoiler to ruin it for other people, whether it gets deleted or not. I'll just be avoiding every single Bond thread, and I'll skim through each and every post in non-related threads as slowly as I can.

@chrisisall, that's not good! Usually when I have low expectations, a film pleasantly surprises me, but when I have high expectations for something and it doesn't deliver, then it seems to be an even worse blow than if I just watched something that was expectantly terrible.

Bond-wise, I left TND feeling hyped up- both times I saw it. I left QOS disappointed, partly due to it being so different, but more so due to the duration of the film. I remember looking at my watch thinking, "Is that it?" I've since grown to love QOS. I walked out of SF disappointed because of the hype, plus my blind decision to delve into the production so deeply. I knew almost everything about the film. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around, as my expectations were gone. :-bd

I enjoyed SF a bit more the second time, as well, now that I knew what to expect. I just went in focusing on my favorite scenes, so it wasn't as much of a let down as it was the first time I saw it.

I agree and was also disappointed. Had there been a bit of foresight, the script for the episode Yesterday's Enterprise could have been held back for a feature film. It could have been adapted to the original series crew and would have been an outstanding way to combine the two generations. :(

The biggest disappointment of all time to me would have to be The Phantom Menace. Although, to be fair, it would have been difficult for any film to have lived up to the enormous hype. Still, it could have and should have been much better.

Remember that well, after so many years of waiting for it hugely disappointed. Remembers having to que round the block, whilst waiting a girl i knew came out of the cinema from the previous showing and she said it was amazing, that made my disappointed even worse lol
