... You cast Keanu Reeves in a Bond film?

I'm sorry. Let me rephrase that.

YOU CAST KEANU REEVES IN A BOND FILM!?

I can't stand him either, but I've always been convinced that with a beard, he could become a good actor. Everything is possible in a Bond film. :-D
I can't help it, but it is this guy who show up in my imagination when I read the book and the part with Severan.

This is the person who came to mind when I first encountered Holt:

But with a beard, of course.

Yeah! Great Job! It looks more like 60s Bond. Fantastic Artwork, my friend.

who is the guy next to keanu? he looks like Craig

    Thanks for the comments!
The guy next to Keanu / Hydt is Michael Nyqvist as Naill Dunne. Danish Actor who did the first Millenium Movie (The girl with the Dragon Tatoo) as Mikael Blomkvist. A role that Daniel Craig is actually playing in the US version (no wonder if they look alike). Once again, I agree, a danish actor for an Irish character has no sense.

How about casting Chesca Miles for the policewoman role, Bheka Jordaan. Miles is the stunt-woman who appeared at the Carte Blanche premiere, designed as a Bond Girl.
  • Emma Watson as Felicity Willing, and Naveen Andrews as Severan Hydt and Matthew Goode as Naill Dunn. Also I see Gugu Mbatha-Raw as a good Bheka Jordaan.

Not that it matters, but Nyqvist is Swedish and not Danish.
I though he was quite good in Tattoo, but I was very disappointed by his acting in Mission Impossible IV.

He sadly wasn't given much to do in MI4.
  • I was really disappointed with Carte Blanche as it appeared Bond almost had a Sherlock Holmes ability to know everything that would happen and how everyone would think at every moment which was very distracting, almost annoying. Bond isn't perfect and can sometimes have the wool pulled over his eyes, it's his ability to recover from those moments that I love, not his ability to predict and avoid them.

Nice point, and I agree. Bond has brains and knows the spy game, but he isn't a cerebral force that outmatches his enemies time after time. If he never made mistakes, how boring would he be? Answer: Very.

Who wrote the Carte Blanche novel?

Feels that looks are deceiving. I thought that Carte Blanche was famous And good. But seems thats not everyone who likes it.

Jeffery Deaver wrote it. It is an okay novel, it is just that "Bond" in the book could be switched out with any other spy character and still work. The characteristics of Fleming's Bond simply aren't in place, and it is like Deaver didn't get the character down pat to know him well enough to write a continuation novel. Bond even passes up seducing a woman because she is already in a relationship. That really happened.

That's quite not Bondish. And it seems that the book isn't too. It's a pity that this book is not that great as the main others are, I guess.

Yeah. Like I said, bad Bond novel, but still a good book if you ignore the fact that it is supposed to be a Bond continuation novel.

Good point. Though it is not that good, i'd like to read it.
I'd like to read any Bond book, at all. I read the members posting that the Books are better than the movies, and i've realized that i'm losing a big time not reading them. It's a shame that they don't sell so famous Books in my country.

the problem with Carte Blanche I want a rebooted bond in our decade doing things Craig's Bond does in films and video games.... Deaver didn't deliver that at all which is a tragedy....

    Good call on Michael Nyqvist!

Emma Watson should make it into a Bond film one day. Reeves is more mis-cast than when Portobellow mushrooms filled in for burgers.

Here's the cast I would use if they were to adapt Carte Blanche:

    James Bond: Daniel Craig
    M: Ralph Fiennes
    Bill Tanner: Rory Kinnear
    Miss Moneypenny: Naomie Harris
    Philly Maidstone: Kelly Reilly
    Sanu Hirani: Tamer Hassan
    Felix Leiter: Jeffrey Wright
    Gregory Lamb: Brendan Gleeson
    Bheka Jordaan: Thandie Newton
    Felicity Willing: Malin Akerman
    Severan Hydt: Sebastian Koch
    Jessica Barnes: Joan Allen
    Niall Dunne: Norman Reedus

@Agent005 - Nice cast. Not familiar with Malin Akerman. This would be a key cast member.

I'd go for Vera Farmiga or Kristin Scott-Thomas. What about Cillian Murphy for Niall Dunne?

    Silk Spectre II in Watchmen.

Malin Akerman couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. She was easily the worst thing about Watchmen, which was all around a great adaption (and even better than the graphic novel in spots).

Really? I've always thought she was quite good. Hmm...

My alternate pick would be Keri Russell.
