As mentioned above, I'd also prefer Aston not return, but there's no chance of that so I'll just have to live with it.

Cruise has BMW all locked up for the MI series, and has used them beautifully in the last two releases.

    And one big mistake :

(ahem) JAMES BOND NEVER USED A DB 9 !!!!!

    Sorry.

No problem, it's not your fault. ;-)

But indeed. This story has some glaring mistakes in it.

Not script-wise. But, the DB9 posed as the DBS during the stunt segment of rolling over the Aston in Casino Royale.

allright, I actually didn't know it, but apparently all the 'DBS's' in CR are DB9's in drag... http://www.evo.co.uk/aston-martin/db9/8373/aston-martin-dbs-how-james-bond-crashed-his-aston
Still, I think it's unfair to designate them by the underpinnings. A lot of film-cars are something else entirely and they never get called whatever is underneath.

It seem I read in Auto express that Aston Martin first Crossover will be electric. It likely to be released in 2019. I had studied the Vehicle. It will suit James Bond in mission when ever he goes in the country sides,Mountain, deserts or Jungles.

Imran, I do believe that DBS is from QOS? As their are bullet holes on the windscreen?
Yup, that's the one. Got to see both of them at "Bond in Motion". The one from CR '06 has the roof dented and no bullet holes whatsoever.

You're right.. My bad. Posted out of excitement and overlooked that its the DBS from QoS. The license plate is a giveaway as well. Will repost with the correct car.

A correction from my previous post where I wrongly posted the QoS DBS. Here is the correct DBS that rolled over in Casino Royale!

"Used 2008 Aston Martin DBS. Low miles. Minor scratches. Looks and drives great!"

I'd still drive the hell out of that car. Whenever I went somewhere with valet service I'd have to be sure to say, "Careful not to scratch it."

You know what? I'm tired of the Aston Martin. If writers Neal Purvis & Robert Wade are really too exhausted to get new creativity, they they need to start looking for different ways. So first let's get rid of that damned Aston Martin for one whole Bond movie. Shall we? Let Bond drive an ordinary Seat Ibiza and let him rag that car off like Steve McQueen did.

Steve McQeen driving an Ibiza? @Gustav_Graves , what have you been smoking?? ;-) First, the DB11 is a completely different car from the DBS and DB10 we saw in the previous films, and second, whenever Bond drives a normal car (Ford, CR) he's critisized for it....

And no, not an Ibiza, but an Alfa could do. The Giulia is 'normal' enough, and as I understand it the ultimaete driver's car. Something that is very much part of Bond.

No. No. NO. You don't get me. What I mean is Bond being seriously tested with his driving skills. Like Steve McQueen did in "Bullitt". But then with a tiny emergency, escape vehicle and not with the constant luxury of an Aston Martin. A Seat Ibiza would be perfect like that. And let's not forget, Jason Bourne once drove a Mini Cooper.

Fact is: The Aston Martin has been done to death since Mr -Pastiche- Brosnan became Bond. Stop it! So dear Purvis & Wade? You don't have the right to moan about the loss of creativity.

hahaha don't worry, I got it, no worries. Just had to defend Aston a bit. Love the cars too much. Anyway, I think it would be fair indeed if he was challenged in a not-exclusive car, fair enough. we haven't had a proper car chase since QoS, and that one isn't appreciated by everyone (which I find odd, but what can you do). But it should fit the story. Like it did in Bullitt, or Bourne in the mini. There it made sense. Or like Moore's Bond had to settle for the 2CV instead of the rather blown-up Lotus.

All in all, he could still drive an Aston company car, and have a chase in another type.

Agreed. They understood that very well during Cubby's time. Hence Moore driving the Lotus (rather than an Aston). Additionally, after they made such a massive impact in TSWLM with a gadget laden car, they smartly retired the trope until Dalton's time. The Citreon and Alfa chases in FYEO & OP are the way they should go next. Both are excellent.

Certainly. Really keen to see a unique non-Aston car chase.

Have always loved the Toyota in YOLT as well.

I don't think it does Aston any favours to be in every film frankly. I'm slightly sick of them. Especially when you get the DB5 shoehorned in as well.

    I suppose it's better than a BMW...

Well they should leave the DB5 out of it now, I'll agree to that!

I just read Auto express web, Aston Martin are planning their Ferrari Rival Supercar mid engine. Also they show their future new model in the pipeline. So don't always hope for James Bond to drive.

I also got yesterday autoart Scale1:18 Aston Martin Rapide S. hopefully the DB11 diecast/.

yes not a fan of these types of cars, but if they help keep AM solvent then that's fine.

The DB 11 is quite nice. It's grown on me.

I don't see how AM can stay independent though. I can't see it having a long term future outside of a major auto manufacturer.

Rare Aston Martin fetches £754,000 at Dorchester auction

    _96411581_mediaitem96411580.jpg

A rare Aston Martin car has sold at auction in Dorset for £754,000.

The convertible DB6 Vantage Volante was previously owned by the wife of media entrepreneur Sidney Bernstein.

Dukes Auctioneers said Sandra Bernstein who bought the car in 1968 "cherished it for the rest of her life before passing the car to her son".

It described the dark blue car, which has only covered 38,833 miles, and is one of just 29 produced as "in our view, the ultimate".

The Dorchester auction house said the car "one of the rarest post-war Aston Martins" was "so special due to its single family ownership and its remarkable originality."
