Yes, but will he actually do it? He's still in negotiations. Of course he could end up backing away and they'd hire another director for Aladdin. Which I hope to be the case.

@ClarkDevlin, he could, but if he's discussing doing this now, then it's obvious that 'Sherlock Holmes 3' isn't the first thing on his plate currently.

And Holmes 3 goes in development hell.

The problem with a director like Ritchie and actor like Downey is that they're always tied up in one thing or another, so it'll be a mission to get them together for one shooting schedule to get Holmes 3 done. Apparently a script has gotten written, or is at least being written, so there's that.

Agreed. Lord knows how many drafts or separate scripts for a third Holmes film has been written over the course of five years.

    Looking forward to it!

Ang Lee Turned Down The New “Mulan”
By Garth Franklin Wednesday, October 12th 2016 4:59 pm

Acclaimed “Brokeback Mountain” and “Life of Pi” helmer Ang Lee was offered the job of directing Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of their 1998 animated hit “Mulan,” but decided to pass.

The reveal comes in a new THR article which indicates Disney is moving quickly to lock down a director, ideally an Asian one, to take the helm of the new film which is also conducting a global search to find a Chinese lead actress and love interest.

Disney began developing their version in early 2015 from Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin’s spec script. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were then brought onboard to re-write and their draft was so well received at the studio that they fast tracked it and set a November 2nd 2018 release date.

That means the film is now racing to head into production and so far no-one is yet locked. There’s a time issue here as well with Sony Pictures developing a rival project, a live-action adaptation of the original ancient Chinese ballad upon which the animated film is based. Jason Keller (“Mirror Mirror”) penned the script for that which is in a much earlier stage of development and won’t hit cinemas until long after Disney’s take.

Mabey there should consider Jennifer Yuh Nelson. She is directer of animated Kung Fu Panda 2 & 3. if there accepted 1973 born actres for the part of Mulan mabey Li Bingbing (Transformers 4) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0508356/ but as i said she is from 1973 (43 years old).

Nathanson To Pen Disney’s “Lion King” Remake
By Garth Franklin Thursday, October 13th 2016 1:24 pm

Scribe Jeff Nathanson (“Catch Me If You Can,” “The Terminal”) has been tapped to write the live-action remake of 1994’s animated classic “The Lion King” for Disney Pictures.

Jon Favreau is already attached to direct the film which follows the live-action the success of “Cinderella,” “Maleficent,” “Alice in Wonderland” and the like. Next film in that list is “Beauty and the Beast”.

The original remains one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time with a lifetime global box office of $968.8 million. Nathanson most recently worked on the script for Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”.

The boys are back in town! The sequel to We Still Kill The Old Way (2014), starring former Saint actor Ian Ogilvy...

You're welcome, mate! Check out the first one as soon as you can. It's, like the tagline of the film says, Harry Brown meets Reservoir Dogs. :D

Oh yes, looking forward to this. Anyone who likes their action thriller protagonists with a lot of mileage on their clocks, needs to see them, @DaltonCraig.

Ogilvy is more convincing playing it tough in these films, than he was as Simon Templar.

I'm definitely interested in this! I haven't seen the first film either, but am always game for anything Ogilvy is in. The man was an excellent Saint (2nd only to Moore). This reminds me that I have to revisit the entire series soon - I just love that show.

Anyone know what the first predictions say for Jack Reacher? I know it's kinda early but usually box office sites know their stuff.

I hope this movie ends up making like 200m+ worldwide

@dragonsky it's Tom Cruise we're talking about. ;) The guy is probably the most box office proof actor in the business today. When he makes a new action film, it's bound to be a success. I think he only has 8 or so films in the last 30 years that haven't crossed $100 million in the USA.

This doesn't sound too legit since look at his last 10 movies in USA :D

Edge of Tomorrow passed 100m after DVD/BluRay sales..

Jack Reacher didn't pass 100m and it was a success (much like Edge of Tomorrow) only barely cause of the rest of the world.

I'm having my doubts for this movie since it's facing some competition, that's why I hope this movie does well so maybe we can see even another Reacher movie

According to IMDB, ''In the past twenty years since his first hundred million dollar grosser (Top Gun (1986)), only six of his films have failed to reach that status.'', so if you add those films since 2007, that makes a total of 12 of his films since 1986 to not reach $100 million.

I'll forever be upset that we won't get a Freddie Mercury biopic starring him.
