Kenneth Branagh on dual directing and acting duties as the villain. Will be interesting to see how this turns out. Branagh to direct a future Bond perhaps?

I can't get over how abysmal that title is. Film doesn't look too bad. Branagh looks fantastic.

I actually like the title. I also liked Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and would love Shadow or Ghost to be used in a James Bond title

Just saw the trailer for the new Jack Ryan movie and the action looks great. Another violent fight in a toilet. Yes!

Figured I would revive this thread with an interesting piece of news to hit the web today.

Tom Hardy is set to play Elton John in 'Rocketman':

Being a fan of EJ's music i will keep an eye on this with interest. Certainly did not see that match being made though?

Neither did I! Speaking of biopics, Ben Foster is now doing a Lance Armstrong film, and he looks exactly like him. Also, Sacha Baren Cohen was lined up to play Freddie Mercury in a film about his life (you couldn't get a better actor, looks and sound wise, to play that role), but something happened and now Whishaw is slated to play the Queen frontman.

EDIT: 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' trailer looks fantastic:

It's a shame that Sacha won't be playing Freddie. Many people find him to be an amateur level actor just because of his comedy work, but with that role he could've really shown off his talents in a more dramatic fashion.

It's because those people focus on Borat/Bruno, and don't notice his excellence in films like 'Les Miserables.' I never saw the entirety of 'Sweeney Todd,' but I hear he's great in that, too. Apply a little makeup, and not only can the man sing, but he'll like almost exactly like Mercury. It was perfect.

Some films that have now been delayed until 2014, some of which include the new Robocop and Jack Ryan films as well as Monuments Men:

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, we were talking about that in the 'Robocop' thread, I just didn't post it here because not that many post in this thread, and whatever I update it with tends to fall back into the pages.

I always read it if that makes you feel any better. It's just that sometimes I don't have anything to add and don't post a comment.

@RogueAgent, absolutely, but I think Cohen and some others had opposing visions of the film so he didn't stick around. It's a real shame.

Certainly is! I know he has clearly done some way out there roles in the past? But I really do think that given the opportunity that he would have seriously taken the role and played it straight from the word go!

@RogueAgent, I suppose 'Bruno' and 'Borat' are way out there. But, when it comes to a dramatic turn, the man really does shine.

Yep! A real shame we will not get the chance to see him do it for real? :((

I'm not impressed by Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. It only seems to be another reboot with more action and an acclaimed acton on the mentor archetype. It makes me want to rewatch Red October and both of Ford's movies. Am I too conservative?
Moreover, the absence of James Earl Jones is a low point in my regard.

Mel Gibson has a cameo in Mad Max 4 as a character called "Drifter". But I read today that it could be something more than that. This could be completely untrue so take it with a pinch of salt but I'm really excited over this.

Apparently Gibson is playing Mad Max and the film opens with him telling a story about the Road Warrior (himself). The whole film from then on is an extended flashback, with Hardy as Max, and this story is set before Mad Max 2 (explaining why he has his Interceptor back).

This sounds like a fantastic idea and I really hope it's true.

@0013 You're not alone mate. Just watched the trailer and it definitely didn't impress me, it doesn't seem like Jack Ryan at all. The title is stupid too and the fact that it's not even remotely based on a Clancy book worries me. Bring back Harrison Ford!

Why is what is thought to be the first film in a series, being released in January? That should kill it right there.

That's interesting. If it proves to be true, that would hopefully ease the worries of those who wanted a reference to the originals with Gibson.

What do you thing about this movie?

Seems very interesting to me, very much on the Scorsese style.

I think 'American Hustle' could be good, but I haven't seen enough of David O. Russell to judge his track record, and 'The Counselor' just came out with a great cast and terrible reviews. I'm sure 'American Hustle' will get some Oscar noms and be critically hailed, though.

I love David O. Russell´s last two films, Fighter, and Silver Linings, so I´m curious to see if this seeming slight inspiration by Scorsese does him any good.

Why am I not surprised that The Counselor got bad reviews?

3rd director now for Highlander this one looks a bit more promising however I will believe it when I see pictures or a trailer.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' trailer has been revealed online today:

    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=110712

After the stunning 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' trailer, this one didn't really do anything for me. I'm sure the next trailer will be better - they usually are - but it just didn't do much in the way of exciting or intriguing me.

It's just setting the scene I think. Letting us know what the film is about. It looks alright and having both casts involved means it should be the most successful X-Men film yet.

@Samuel001, it is, hence the heavy character focus in the trailer. I don't need it to be balls-to-the-wall action, it's just that the trailer didn't really do anything for me. It's nice to have a combination of the older 'X-Men' films cast with that from 'First Class.' Should make for a pretty entertaining film.
