    Will the superhero trend ever stop? Am I the only one who is sick of all these Marvel movies? How are people not fed up with twenty superhero movies more or less the same in the space of seven years? Phase one, phase two, phase three - dear God how long will it go on for? And now trying to cash in on a cheap 'Part 1-Part 2' tactic for the Avengers that will inevitably make tonnes of moolah. Enough already!

    @IncompetentHenchman, why don´t you just ignore it then :-)?

    I´m not much interested in all these fancy costumes and superpowers from comic books, but I can imagine worse.

    I do try but it is somewhat difficult when everyone will not stop talking about them. I've told friends of mine that I really don't like most superhero movies and they seem to think there is something very wrong with me.

    I'm with you on this. These superhero films are getting a bit tiring. That said, I'm still very much looking forward to Batman v Superman, but that's kind of the anomaly. It would be one thing if the movies that Marvel were turning out were actually good, but they're not. Outside of Iron Man and to a lesser degree Iron Man 3, I can't say that I've cared for anything that Marvel has put out.

    I enjoy them a lot. After all we've had super boxers with Rocky, super agents with Bond
    even super adventurers with Indy. ;)

    One could argue that those are mere humans who deal with superhuman challenges, thus breaking through the boundaries of their original state, while people with superhuman powers tend to deal with very human problems, thus choking on their own superpowers.

    But I don´t care, as long as the film rocks.

    And I don´t get at all why there´s so little love for Iron Man 2. It´s so full of funny dialogue, Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke are outstanding, and the Monaco sequence is among the best action pieces I´ve ever seen.

    People talking about TDK trilogy in another thread made me wanna binge watch - I haven't seen them since that lovely night at BFI IMAX in London last August... :x I need to get my ass in gear and get that new telly, finally... I can keep it on the floor till the furniture arrives, right?

    No, you're not the only one. I'm very suspicious of BvS, and less so, but still somewhat of Suicide Squad, too - haven't decided what to do with former, but planning to see the latter. I tried with Marvel, I really did (7 movies, ugh - none in theatre, though), but eventually gave up. I mean I wanted to enjoy them, but mostly didn't. Unfortunately one of my favorite people in Hollywood is a Marvel fan... so I'll still have to watch Ant-Man, at least... :P ...and I fear he'll get involved with other stuff, too - they'd be stupid not to ask him.

    Now obviously as long as those movies make tons of money, they keep getting made. Just do your best to ignore them, there's nothing else one can do. If you get crap from friends, or feel excluded somehow, then that's obviously unfortunate.

    I'm very, very burnt out on these comicbook/superhero movies and haven't seen any of the new ones from the last couple of years, but yes, there is a huge fan base for these, so it's understandable why so many are pushed out year after year. Hell, didn't they go on to say that these movies will literally never end, that they will "make them forever"?

    Considering that comic books seem to be as popular as ever for the last 80 years or so, and that modern CGI offers the opportunity to make comic book adaptions in an unprecedented way, it seems only logic that more and more of those films will be made.
    Which is problematic insofar as similarly huge projects featuring "normal people" like Indy Jones or Riggs and Murtaugh won´t be made so often, or won´t get as much attention in the production.

    We'll see how far the Avengers series will go. They are planning a Phase IV but I doubt there will be much more after that as the various actors will all get too old and the audience probably has enough.

    Batman, Superman, Spider-Man will always be re-made, re-booted and continued. They are a part of pop-culture and it seems every new generation gets into them as well.
    My daughter, 6 this April, knows them all, merchandising is everywhere.
    She actually has watched some of the DC Animated stuff that I considered safe for her to watch.
    She's very fond of Batman The Brave And The Bold, and Teen Titans.

    Westerns dominated cinema screens for years, so did the romcoms of the 40s, 50s and 60s and of course all the sci-fi stuff we've been getting for decades. Like it ir not comic book movies are fulfiling life long dreams for so many people around the world and these movies aren't hoing anywhere anytime soon especially when we're getting stuff like this:

    I've personally had my fill of comic book films but I'm not the market they are going for it's feels like football to me, I have no interest I don't get the appeal but everybody else I practically know can't get enough of it.

    Blockbuster cinema in general leaves me cold for the most part, I've only been to the cinema once this year for Hateful Eight and the only blockbuster I can think of that I'm really excited about this year is Rogue One.

    I've enjoyed the last 2 Star Trek films and seen them both on the big screen but that recent trailer isn't urging me to see it. So not sure the summer season will be getting any of my money this year.

    Mel Gibson would have been my choice though admittedly Mel has played a similar role in Payback and Edge of Darkness.

    Going completely in another direction, George Clooney would be good in the role of a pacifist turned vigilante.

    Not a big fan of Clooney though one film he did Out of Sight was very good, I keep meaning to watch The American apparently he is very good in that, good call for Death Wish Clooney has that every man persona that would work.

    here's something interesting i stumbled across about the shitty Ghostbusters remake...... don't read any further without first taking down a grain of salt......

    apparently, someone who works in post production (not sure if it was on this film, or another - doesn't specify) saw an advanced screening of the film, and leaked out the entire plot of the film via reddit - and confirms most of our initial thoughts, that the movie is just stupid and bad beyond reproach... his comments were posted before the drop of the newest international trailer, which seems to contain some of the stuff he brought up in his rant, giving his words a bit of validity....

    again, this could all be made up nonsense...... but i'll entertain the idea that this is legit for now..... here is the link..

    If it's true, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Glimpsed through that plot, the injection of Youtube, Reddit, Amazon etc. in hopes of force-feeding how "current" this movie is sounds even worse than I thought. Inevitable trainwreck inbound.
