@doubleoego, @bondjames and other fans of the hit TV show 'Homeland'

It seems production on the action/thriller film 'American Assassin' is starting to pick up pace. It is directed by former 'Homeland' producer & director, Michael Cuesta, and features Michael Keaton.

Keaton in a major role in an action movie made by someone who had a big hand in creating 'Homeland'? Take my money now!

EDIT: Found some sort of synopsis:

The movie follows Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Keaton), who would be the most feared training officer in the CIA if more than a handful of people at the agency actually knew of his existence. As the story begins, Hurley’s deputy director tasks him with training a black ops recruit devastated by the loss of his fiancée to a terrorist attack. The pair is eventually dispatched on a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent to stop a mysterious operative from starting World War III in the Middle East.

I say again: take my money now!

Thanks for that @DaltonCraig007. American Assassin does indeed look like a sure fire win. Love the premise so far and can already feel the intensity that Keaton will bring to this role as a bad ass trainer.

Speaking of that, the recruit in 'American Assassin' will be played by Dylan O'Brien. Spotted an article on it yesterday, here's another:

    http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/685457-first-sleepless-photos-and-release-date-for-the-jamie-foxx-action-thriller#/slide/1

Open Road Films has announced a February 24, 2017 release date for their action thriller Sleepless, starring Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Django Unchained) and Golden Globe-nominee Michelle Monaghan (Source Code, “True Detective”).

Directed by Baran Bo Odar, Sleepless stars Foxx as undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs, who is caught in a high stakes web of corrupt cops and the mob-controlled casino underground. When a heist goes wrong, a crew of homicidal gangsters kidnaps Downs’ teenage son. In one sleepless night he will have to rescue his son, evade an internal affairs investigation and bring the kidnappers to justice.
The film also stars Gabrielle Union (Top Five, Bad Boys II), rapper T.I. (Ant-Man), Dermot Mulroney (The Grey, Mozart in the Jungle), Scoot McNairy (Batman Vs Superman, Argo) and David Harbour (Suicide Squad, End Of Watch).

The screenplay was written by Andrea Berloff (World Trade Center, Straight Outta Compton) and serves as a remake of the French film Nuit Blanche, directed by Frédéric Jardin, and written by Jardin, Olivier Fox and Nicolas Saada.

Hmm... The plot kind of reminds me of Jet Li's Cradle 2 The Grave.

    @doubleoego

    1. 'Nuit Blanche' is one of my favorite French films of the last decade or so. Non-stop intense action scenes in a confined area (a nightclub) for 90 minutes.

    2. Does Jamie Foxx age? He looks the same as he did in the brilliant film 'The Kingdom', and that was 9 years ago!

I definitely want to check out the original before seeing this remake. I saw the last pic of Foxx and MM first and first thought it was a Miami Vice seque as he looks virtually the same lol

Oh right, sorry @doubleoego, I forgot the Miami Vice film was from 2006.

We could post a screencap from Collateral, and he wouldn't look a day older today.

Colin, and even Vince Vaughan have held up nicely as well. This is from True Detective 2. Vaughan in particular looks like he did in 1997 almost.

If you ever want to shit on a trailer of any genre, just add Kanye West to it. Horrible trash, can't believe anyone can listen to that and enjoy it.

However, the action and CG looks stellar in that trailer. Doesn't seem like they really got the Animus/present day stuff down pat (though I suppose if it's original, that explains why there's so much seen that doesn't look familiar.) I'm in.

I had a 'District 13' (2004 french film) vibe with all that parkour stuff in the 'Assassin's Creed' trailer.

I didn't actually look at that Assassin's Creed trailer earlier. I just did. Wow, great to see Fassbender & Cotillard in the same film - but pity it's not a Bond one.

It looks great, apart from the yellow piss colouring in some CGI recreated scenes which reminds me of a certain film. This is a must see on day one for me just due to the actors.

I'm seeing this on opening day too, @bondjames. Between this and 'Star Wars: Rogue One', 2016 will finish off very nicely.

I like both actors, too, and the only reason I didn't see their Macbeth was that it never came to my neck of the woods. (Did you see that one?) The "video game adaptation" part makes me very suspicious, so I'm not sure. Gotta say that the Tom Hardy-Charlize Theron combo in an old franchise I had never cared for was a much easier sell to me, and there was no crap music, either. This I'd say is not a must for me, but I'll definitely consider just due to the actors. :)

Ang Lee is back! Very particular cast, Chris Tucker, Vin Diesel, Steve Martin and Kristen Stewart.

Damn, that looks pretty great, wasn't sure what to expect once the first trailer hit. Spotted quite a lot of blood in one scene for a green band trailer, too.

Agree. Assassin s Creed looks great, very much due to the actors involved.

Also agree that Kanye West totally ruins the whole trailer. Stop feeding his unwarranted megalomania.

@Creasy47 the cast is pretty interesting too. Chris Tucker, Vin Diesel, Steve Martin.

@bondjames check it out (the trailer I posted a few comments earlier), this is going to receive some big nomination later this year, given an Ang Lee film always gets rave reviews, and he is a 2 times Best Director winner at the Oscars.

@DaltonCraig007, didn't notice Chris Tucker was in it. Saw Martin's credits, but didn't catch him in the trailer, though I did see the snippet of Diesel. This has jumped up on my 'To See' list, along with 'Assassin's Creed.'
