The Game of Thrones connection

For the fans of the show, you must have noticed it: many actors in it once played in a Bond movie. There is Sean Bean of course, but also Julian Glover, Diana Rigg and Tobias Menzies. Jonathan Pryce will play a role in season 5. And the last actor to play The Mountain has been rumoured to be a henchman in Bond 24.

Do I miss any? And who, among the cast, could play in a Bond movie?

Charles Dance played Fleming in a biopic (can't remember the title). I agree, a lot of actors. I don't really like the series, I have read the books (finishing the last available one) and didn't really get into the adaptation.

Charles Dance was also a minor henchman in FYEO.

Of course, how could I have forgotten Charles Dance! Maybe my favourite villain in the show.
  • Oona Chaplin who is/was playing Robb's love interest was also part of Quantum of Solace.

I think we've got the lot of them... I watched FYEO a while ago, and it was funny to see Charles Dance in its first role, and see how far he's gone now !
They've beem summed up here :)

One of the reasons why I can see Natalie Dormer as a Bond girl.
  • The two of them do really work well in GoT. Great dialogues and complicity between them !

Amazing actresses, and they look like they are related. I guess it is only a question of time until an actress in GoT becomes a Bond girl. Minus all the porn actresses they cast of course.

Oh, and sometimes I wonder of Mark Addy wouldn't make a brilliant Blofeld. I'd never thought he could look menacing until I saw him as Robert Baratheon.

Is that how they cast all the naked women, or those in barely-dressed sexual roles?
I thought they might be regular actresses looking for a cheque.

Not all of them are former porn actresses, but some of them. Shae is played by a former porn actress for instance, although she was already a "proper" actress when she was cast as Shae.

sure is lots of work for actresses willing to take their clothes off on Cable TV.
Thrones, True Blood and the Spartacus series are all naked-paloozas, and those are just the series that I have been watching.

I think Ned Starks son (died in Season 3) would make a good Bond too?

Richard Madden has the right face, right age and is Scottish. The problem is, he may be too short.

I think Diana Rigg would have aged better, if she wasn't a life long smoker.
Oona Chaplin (QoS) looked real good in Thrones, until she was offed at the red wedding.

I wish Oona Chaplin had been a "proper" Bond girl sometimes, i.e. had been in bed with Bond and everything. But it was nice to see her in Game of Thrones. In, how shall I say, a different way.

Online it states his height is 180cm, the same as Craig. I would agree on the height issue until the casting of DC and this hasn't been a problem. Kit Harrington is out at just 173cm mind!!!

Not a bad actor, but one of the Bond series's most forgettable villans.

It says 5'9 1/2 on IMDB, 177CM, so shorter than Craig, if the numbers are correct. Since Craig's height was criticized at first, I fear he might be an issue for Madden. Anyway, his profile may go up with the new Cinderella movie, just enough to be on the producer's mind, so we shall see. If he matures enough, who knows.

I don't like TND much and thought Elliot Carver as written was a rather by the number villain, that said I enjoyed Pryce's acting. His role in GofT seems to be far more interesting.

Jonathan Pryce has been in it for two episodes now and I think he's amazing.

I am writing again as we have seen more of Pryce in episode 7. Funny as his High Sparrow is far more threatening than Elliot Carver ever was, but in such subdued, soft spoken way. And barefeet. Chilling.

    Anybody else following the series?

Very chilling. That's what I was thinking during the court scene last night. Funny, I've never participated in this thread before because I forgot that it existed, but I've brought up the GoT/James Bond universe connection before in other threads. Glad I'm not the only one!

I watched the first season a while back and didn't really enjoy it but we decided to try and watch carry on with it anyway (nearly finished season 2 now) and I've warmed to it, I was left feeling kinda lost and confused at first but I've gotten into it now. It took quite a few episodes but I think the show is starting to turn me into a fan.

I was hooked right away, mainly because of Sean Bean. He was amazing as Ned Stark. Funny how he spent a lot of his career playing villains, then in GoT he plays the ultimate goodie goodie.

I own the first four seasons on blu-ray (which I enjoy countless marathons of) and have been eagerly following the fifth season. Unfortunately, I'll move before the eighth episode and I'm not sure when I will get Internet again, so I may miss out on it for a while.

Got is such an awesome show. I kind of wish inform was just starting because there are so many amazing and shocking things to look forward to. Anyway, the talent involved in this show from day one is the best TV has to offer and for crying out loud, I really need for Cersi to suffer.

Another connection. Gemita Samara, who is Lea Seydoux's stunt double in SPECTRE, was in GoT.
