David Arnold in his Tomorrow Never Dies interview, did say the James Bond theme is a safety net....coz it's already there....and that whenever a Composer is in trouble, he can play a variation on it....and it will work for the score....If Newman used the Bond theme in different ways, we would have had better action tracks than 'Snow Plane', 'Tempus Fugit', 'Granborough Road' and a host of others. Funny enough, I've always thought Newman was the one composer who needed the use of the Bond theme more....considering he's not an action composer by default. Well, why am excited for Zimmer is, apart from using the iconic Bond theme....Zimmer might create an alternate Bond theme which will be played in and around the already existing Bond theme.

Why am I not surprised to see Arnold and Newman mentioned on this thread again, and again, back and forth. I understand comparing Newman (who did the latest 2 films) to Zimmer's past work, though.

Anyway, I think Zimmer genuinely cares about doing a great job (not just passable) for Bond. With him working with only one person, I think that makes sense and gives a concentrated effort with someone whose feedback he trusts. I'm hopeful for a good score. I did enjoy Zimmer's Inception score.

And Zimmer's inclusion of his top guitarist bodes well for the final product.

It really does. Can't wait to hear it. But this time, I'll really wait to hear it on the film, and not before.

The new spot first half sounds like something Zimmer would do. Reminds me of Man of Steel. Maybe it's a tiny little snippet.

Yeah, I think music from the first few seconds of the New TV spot is Zimmer's music....before it transits into music from the old trailers....Maybe we're getting an Electronic/Orchestral Bond score.

Meh, sounds like bog standard Zimmeresque trailer score music to me... ;)

Seems more like an alternate mix of the end action montage music from the first trailer to me.

Yeah, anything's possible....but listening to it deeply with a headset....the Zimmeresque Bond music ends once Safin starts shooting the ice....then we hear music from the old trailers...although, what furthered my suspicion of it being Zimmer's music was, I think there was news that we might be getting a hint of Zimmer's music in the coming trailers.

Yes, there was a comment from the Zimmer team that the upcoming trailers would feature Zimmer's score.

If that's part of the score - was expecting more - have to be honest! I know Zimmer has his fans - but that sounded very generic (going through the motions). Hopefully this isn't properly representative of the what the final score will be like...

Guys, it's just the same music from the first trailer played at a different pitch. And that clip that was posted on Billie Eilish's Instagram was NOT a sample of her Bond title.

I get it, we're very hungry to hear any musical elements that would be used in the film. Heck I remember the first behind the scenes footage featuring that one pop song everyone was over-analyzing it as if that music was going to determine the musical direction of the score.

Let just sit back and wait. We're likely not going to hear any of the score until very late in March, regardless of rumors are spread on twitter.

It might well not be Zimmer, but the opening part sounded a bit different to what we heard before (perhaps it's just remixed from the same track)? I can't say I really noticed/cared because - meh! Doesn't Zimmer sometimes share tracks early (I think he did with Dunkirk/Submarine if I recall)?

That's because for those films he finished the scores much earlier in the production process. For example, he's already been finished with WONDER WOMAN 1984 for awhile now and that's not coming out til June.

Yeah, He does that....Yeah, Zimmer shared Submarine from Dunkirk....and what an inventive war track!....got me really hyped for Dunkirk....and I wasn't disappointed.

Solid work from Hans and Matt Dunkley on the Bond theme.
They certainly got the vibe right, now i'm excited to see what they'll do with the movie.
I expect to hear the theme in the movie a lot.

If you listen closely from 2:20 onward, you can hear Hans' signature staccato violins in the Background, very TDK and Inception like.

So these are the first few seconds of the soundtrack that we get to hear, right?

I love the film-noirish trumpet Bond-theme at the end.

Gosh that sounds so zimmer and so bond.
I can't wait to hear it and see it accompanied by what's on screen in April. Even if the movie is a mess atleast it will flow with great music, like The Dark Knight rises.

Now that got me excited. The Bond theme at the ends sounds like vintage Bond. The beginning reminded me a bit of Casino Royale a little.

That's fun: I'm hoping Marr gives us a bit of Bond theme riff to kick off!

I was looking for the release date of the soundtrack and according to this page it's 03. April. Not sure if legit.

That would make sense. Records are usually released on a Friday.
  • They usually come out before the film's release though.

The world premiere is March 31. The films is then released in the UK and in a few other European countries on April 2. But a April 3 release for the soundtrack would still be one week in advance to the theatrical US release.
